August 20, 2005 - L.A. to Port Canaveral - Eastbound Repo Cruise - The SHIP OF FOOLS Part 2

Sounds like a nice tradition! Wish I could be included in that. :)

However, I doubt that even the ships godparents would be granted passage whenever they wanted. DCL is a business and one in which making money is the primary goal.

I've even heard tell that when Eisner makes his annual visit to WDW he pays his way from start to finish. Just like all the other guests.

Not like he shouldn't or something. Disney too. He is quite wealthy with his Shamrock Investment company and quite able to pay. About the only one I would agree with letting on the ship for free would be Walt himself. And, of course, that can't happen.

Ah, good ole Ceder Grove!! Have some friends still live there!!!

Born and raised in Pequannock Township! (small town next to Wayne Township) 10 mins from you!!

Went to Willowbrook/West Belt Mall for shopping??? i used to hang out there!!
Rollerskated there every week at the rink too!!!

Yes, spent a lot of time at Willowbrook and in Wayne where a good friend of my lived. My family used to go to Sam's Maple Grove for special dinners...I think that was in Pequannock.

My parents and siblings are still in CG.

don't know about them cruising "whenever" but they are the Magic's godparents:

The Disney Magic's first ever arrival at Port Canaveral was a huge event. Carrying crew and their families on the trans-Atlantic voyage, the Disney Magic made a grand entrance into Florida. People lined the shores to watch the ship sail in, and a flotilla of small ships escorted the Disney Magic into port.

The ship's inaugural was attended by thousands of Disney fans. Patty Disney, wife of Roy Disney, christened the ship and, along with her husband, were named the ship's godparents.

They actually have a picture of the Magic being christened by the two on the ship. If memory serves me correctly, it's on the Starboard side, Deck 4, located to the right of Studio Sea as you face Forward.

I love the Magic! Can you tell? :sunny:

I don't know anything about the Godparents rule but if it is true that they can sail I can't imagine Disney having any unoccupied cabins for them! I can't imagine Disney (the company) would want Roy to sail. Maybe they'd say "sure you can sail be all that's left is a Cat. 12!" Roy's just not happy with Disney so I can't imagine him being on the ship. I guess we'll see though!

Since Roy Disney left the board of directors, he has to pay to get into any of the Disney theme parks that were previously a perk for being a board member. Therefore, I am guessing that if Roy Disney booked the East bound Repo cruise, he probably paid for it himself. On a personal note, my cousin was in the Rose Parade the year Roy Disney was Grand Marshall. She was right behind his escort car and she said he was very humble and walked around taking pictures of everyone ~ just a really nice guy!

I wanna be first in line to christen the new Disney ship so I can be one of it's godparents!! :wizard:

Even if they have to pay their own way - the perk might be that they can pick the category/room they want before the sailing is released to the general public - thus, if they wanted the Walt or Roy suite, they just ask for it before anyone else can reserve it - Disney Co (well, Eisner/Iger) might not like Roy, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE at the parent company or subsidiaries are going to snub Roy (considering a lot of them don't like Eisner either).

That too. Maybe it'll be a family reunion and it will be Roy O. AND Walt!
Except Walt wouldn't be able to stay in his namesake suite as one of our very own DISers is booked into the Walt Suite on our sailing.

Ok people, looks like lots of us has Budget car rentals and dropping off on the 20th......would someone like to volunteer to check into shuttles and keep a list???

Now, just to make sure, we are talking one and same location...

BUDGET: (LG2) 249 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach..

Same location for me, too.

When the Magic left Italy and sailed to Florida they had Disney execs on it, didn't it? I thought I read that somewhere.

:goodvibes I had a dream the other night that Ewan McGregor was on our cruise! He is soooo cute. After all, he does play Obi Wan Kanobi! And since he is married to a French woman, and Johnny Depp pirate: is married to a French woman -- maybe they'll be travelling together  [Hey -- a girl can dream, can't she?]

A warm welcome to Bonnie (Dudette #1) Glad you made it over here. I believe that Jeanne has the 3 of you booked for the meets.

A group lunch would be nice, but not to pay for.

Never been to New Jersey.

Hi all of you "fools". :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I am traveling on the westbound PC cruise. Would like to order 8 of your repositioning pins. Thanks!

Could those folks who have requested bus service to MCO after the cruise PM me their departing airline and departure times. The airline info is to see which side of the airport you'll need to be dropped off at and the time is to coordinate the bus leaving the port and to make sure that those with earlier departures leave as early as possible.

Those intending to continue their already long vacation plans might want to take the bus to MCO for a car rental. The rates to pick-up and return to MCO is about 1/2 the cost of rentals from the port and dropping off at MCO.

Possible Bus To MCO after cruise-Update

Are there any more people interested yet?? Our total so far is 80, and there is room for 55 per bus or 110 passengers in total.

If we use Mears Transportation and manage to fill the bus (capacity 55) the final cost will be $7.29 per person. If bus leaves the Port by 10:00am or so, it should put us at Orlando Airport by 11:00am. Cost for bus is 401.25 and tip is included as per my contact. Departing Airline is needed to make sure you are dropped off at correct side of terminal.

Some people have mentioned the bus times seem a little late. We can make our pick up time anytime we want and if we have 2 buses they can have different pick up times.
