Are there legitimate online jobs?

I normally agree with the upfront fee bit, but arise.com is one place that does require you to pay for your own background check and training upfront and is still legitimate.

Arise is legit. You work as an independent contractor so the pay isn't great, but the job is actually lots of fun and very flexible with your time. The same course will pop up at different prices at different times of year, so if you can bide your time you can catch at a discount.

I used to do similar work for Sykes Enterprises for a large tech company...it paid better but your hours were not flexible.

I have a job grading SAT's online. It is with ETS.org and it pays $15/hr. I had to pass a certification to qualify to grade the SAT's though.

Did you have to have a BA to do this? I am also looking for online work and only have my associates.

I'm also wondering about ets.org, what is the job title that you search under and under location does it specify online?

ive heard of apple support being done from home... im not sure how that goes but it does sound interesting...

a friend of mine is a web designer, he works from home as well, gets paid well for it.

I am not sure about the degree requirement. I have a BA and BS, but I don't know if the job description required it. Check out their website and apply. Worst case they come back saying you needed one.

Perfect timing for this thread. Going to have to check all this info out. Thanks for all the tips!

Wow! I did not expect so much helpful information!! Thank you!! To answer a few questions:
1) I do have a Bachelors Degree in education. I am not a teacher anymore. It wasn't my calling.
2) I am a CNA & I work in Home Health Care, so working from home is not really an option.

I LOVE what I do. The problem is the money SSSUUUUUUCCCCKKKKSSSSS! So I wanted something I could do from home on my off days. While I have a flow of steady clients, if they end up in the hospital or have an appointment, I lose out on those hours and it can be very detrimental in my ability to pay rent and living expenses. I do live with my DBF, so I'm not alone in that aspect. I tired to apply for assistance and he makes too much to qualify, but not enough to be the lone support. We are in that dreaded low-middle, paycheck to payday loan to paycheck cycle.

Hopefully, some of the tips you all have will pan out. Thanks again!
My ears perked up a bit when you mentioned Home Health Care. I know your background may be more clinical than financial, but I do billing and AR for 2 LTC facilities and 85% of my work week is done from my home office. I work in facility about 2 times a week actually commuting to work (44 miles away) for meetings and just to make sure I stay in the loop with things, but for the most part I can essentially do my job from anywhere as long as I have computer and internet access. All of our software we use is internet based so this allows me to work this way. I know a lot of long term care facilities often times outsource their billing so it's definitely a possibility. Maybe not an immediate answer but since you already know this world a bit you could maybe learn the trade and make a position for yourself if you are really good at it? It has been a blessing for me.
