Andrea & Kory's 6/11/11 Wishes Wedding--WP&GF Ballroom**Updated 8/15 Ann. Pics Last!

So I kind of feel like my PJ is boring since there are only a couple of people reading it (but thank you so much for those who do! )

Oh well...

So we had our planning session on Feb 2. It lasted from 10-6:30 and was great! We started off with a tasting session at the GF kitchen. My parents and DF came along. Immediately upon walking in, I was impressed. The table was set up so nice! There was a waiter with a tux on and the chef was cooking right there. I love the show Top Chef and have always said that I want to be a guest to eat on the show and at the tasting, I felt like I was! The chef did such a wonderful job with the presentation and explaining everything!

I thought we would have one plate and everyone would taste from that one dish. Nope! So wrong! We each got a full size serving of EVERYTHING! I was soooo full! Here's what we tried:

**Cocktail Hour(I don't really remember their correct names, sorry)--we each had two pieces of these:
~Bacon wrapped scallops--my MOH got married at Disney 9 years ago and had this at her wedding and said it was the hit of the night. We hadn't originally planned on this but she made us try it and I'm so glad she did! It was definitely the best appetizer!
~Chicken empanada--this was sort of plain so we decided to change it to bacon wrapped beef with blue cheese (I know it will be another bacon appetizer but my mom really wanted it)
~Cold blue cheese mushroom tart thingy--I didn't pay attention to the fact that it was cold so I didn't like it too much. We are changing it to a warm cheese mushroom tarlet.
~We are also having a cheese and fruit station but we didn't sample this.

**We will be having a Caesar salad and they will be making me a cheese crisp thing like they have a Flying Fish Cafe. I asked for this especially because it was sooo good there. But we didn't bother sampling the salad.

**Appetizer:
~Crab cakes with a mango chutney: I love crab cakes but when the chef said he was serving it on the chutney I thought "eww". I hate chutney. But oh my, this was so good! The crab cakes had a little cajun seasoning and the chutney was more like teeny fruit pieces. MMM
~Mushroom ravioli: This was really good too, but we decided we like the crab cakes more. So everyone will get the crabcakes unless they are vegetarian, in which they will get this ravioli.

**Entree--these servings were HUGE and we each got a whole one!
~ Filet of steak with scalloped potatoes, carrots, and asparagus: I have to be honest. The steak was not good. My family, DF and I all like our steaks medium rare. These were well, well, done. So very dry. There was no flavor at all. When we mentioned this to the chef, he apologized and said that he always starts cooking when the guest enters the kitchen and he had gotten to talking and cooked the steaks too much (he and my parents had a bunch in common so they got to talking about random things). We said that we would like all of the steaks to be cooked medium rare. I hope that's okay with the guests and I am hoping they turn out well. It's so expensive for this and I know my parents are going to have a fit if the steaks turn out to be bad! But the scallopped potatoes were so yummy!!!
~Chicken breast with orange glaze, fingerling potatoes, carrots, and asparagus: The sauce on the chicken was sooo good! We decided to swap out the fingerling potatoes with some kind of cheesy mashed potatoes (I am getting the steak dinner but I am also adding these mashed potatoes to it, along with the scalloped ones for myself!)
~ White bean ravioli--this was a new dish and let me say. EWW! The sauce tasted like pure peanuts. Now I hate nuts in the first place so I couldn't get past that to try the ravioli, but my parents and DF didn't like it. Even our wedding planner tried this and didn't like it. We switched to some kind of artichoke pasta.

I had so much fun at this. I am so glad that we got to do it, and it made me feel special. I want to go do it again!

I know what you mean. I just started a running program from my iPhone. I hate running but I am determined to lose a few pounds and tone up!

I love the Flower girl dresses! So cute!!

Can't wait to hear more about your plans:goodvibes

Thanks! I just saw my flower girls 2 weeks ago and one of them is sooo tall now! I hope the dress doesn't look too babyish one her!

I'm reading along!!!

I am still here!! popcorn::

Thanks! And side note--I love popcorn! I'm thinking of having it at the end of my reception!

All the food sounds super yummy!

It was soo good!

I'm reading along. :goodvibes

As for your present question, I think it's ok to go on ahead and open the presents you get before the wedding and send the Thank you out right away. At least that way, you have one less thank you to write after you get back home and you won't have that guest asking you if you got the gift they sent you.

I love your engagement pictures so much. It must have been fun to have World Showcase all to yourselves to take pictures in. It's nice that you were able to go to so many countries!!

I'm a Seasonal CM as well but recently moved out of state. I still come back down to work though. I don't want to give up being a Cast Member. :goodvibes

Congratulations on the wedding! The time is going to fly by so quickly.

So after we had our tasting session, we had about an hour til the planning session. We tried to look at a suite at GF because we were thinking of renting one to get ready in but they didn't have any available.

The planning session was such fun! I brought my binder full of pictures of things that I want. The biggest thing is the carriage. That is my top priority. And then Elizabeth came in to talk about floral (it turns out that she used to live on the street we live on now and currently lives in a neighboorhood right across the street!) Elizabeth was great. If my parents and I were disagreeing on something, you could see her listening to what I was saying and then making an arguement on my behalf. She really cared about what the bride wanted. My mom even picked up on it. She later said that she like Elizabeth so much because she completely went for what I wanted. I'll make another post later of the things I picked out.

To be honest, the cake tasting was a little bit of a let down for me. Our choices of cake flavor was chocolate, yellow, almond, and marble. They were kind of dry and borin. I am hoping that it will be better at the actual wedding.

All in all, I had a blast! It's a little sad to me to think that my major planning is all done! I'd looked forward to planning everything for years and that part is gone. But I can't wait to see what it will all turn out like!

We already got our floral BEO back and oh boy! It was slightly less than what my mom expected (since we went over the top at the beginning knowing we could scale back) but it was waaaaaaaaaaaaay more (like 3 timees more) than what I was expecting. We hoping to cut it almost in half but I'm not sure it's going to happen.

I love your engagement pictures they are gorgeous!!! I have to say I love your dress of course I may be partial since I am getting the same one. Thanks for posting about the netting I wouldn't have even thought about that. So I will definitely check it out when it comes in!!!

Can't wait to see what you pick out!!

so here are some of the things I'll be using flower wise

Here is what my bouquet will look like with the stems wrapped in silver (the roses are a little more lavendar in color than this)

flowers7.jpg

although I'm not sure about that many crystals. Question for you ladies...how much were your crystals? When we were at the PS, I thought Elizabeth said the mickey crystals were the same price as the regular, but on my BEO, the mickey's are $3 and each regular is $10. Is that right?

I was debating on whether or not to keep this bouquet which I love or if I should add in some of these white star-looking flowers so it'll look like this

flowers4.jpg

What do you think?

My bridesmaids bouquets will look like this

flowers6.jpg

The flower girls will have the DFTW basket with the carriage on it and the Ring Bearer will have a matching pillow

My DF will have a lavendar rose with silver ribbon a hidden mickey and the groomsmen will have white roses with silver ribbon, the fathers and grandfathers will have white roses with lavendar ribbon and the moms and grandmoms will have orchids.

Here is our unity candle which we are doing during the ceremony

and the sand ceremony that will be doing during the reception but we will be using 2 of the mini heart glasses to fill it. We will be using sand from SandSantional which matches the colors to different bridal salons colors. Here's victorian lilac and charcoal

Our aisle runner is similar to this but with just the words in purple

aisle.jpg

We will be having the purple petals down the side like this

aisle2.jpg

And then there will be white swag going from row to row with these every couple of rows

aisle1.jpg

Our staged exit will be purple rose petals.

Here are our centerpieces for the reception (they will be used at the ceremony then moved to the reception). Funny thing--I saw this at the Hilton booth at a recent bridal show and took a picture. I showed it to Elizabeth and she said that she had actually created it for them...perfect! (we're not having the roses in the small glasses around it thought)

I fell in love with this table setting and right now we are planning on using the place setting at the right, including the menu style (but the chargers are $11 each so I will probably be changing that!)

table.jpg

I really love the carraige with the purple flowers! That will be on our sweetheart table

pumpkincoach.jpg

Here is for the cards we get at the reception

cardholder.jpg

These are going to be our place card holders and favors. We will be having a photobooth so the guest can put the pictures in these and take them home.

favors.jpg

Our tables are going to be favorite Disney couples. Our escort card will be cute! They will have the guests name on the front and then on the back it will say something like "Please join us at Ariel's Grotto at the Ariel & Eric table", "Get Tangled up in love at the Rapunzel & (dont' remember his name)'s table", "It's a whole new world at the Jasmine & Aladdin table", etc.

Whew! Long post! What do you guys think?
