thanks for letting me relive the dessert party through you because I am a LONG way from there in my own TR :lmao:

I agree, it was a fun special treat. I'm not sure I would have paid for my entire family to go but it was worth it for me only for the experience!

We pretty much left the Terrace as soon as the fireworks were over. We might have missed out on seeing the fireworks with the castle bang in the middle; but we had experienced this view at WDW and DLR before….

    (Picture taken June 2005)

The kids wanted to hit BuzzLightyear’s Space Ranger Spin again. And DS was keen to get on it with us.

Needless to say, I whooped everyone again.

By this time the extended family had pretty much had enough and said their goodbyes. We agreed to meet in DHS in the morning – the only theme park we hadn’t yet visited this trip.

It was nearly 10 pm and DH and I still had 9 snack credits to spend before midnight. We contemplated making our way to DTD and Goofy’s Candy store. On the way out, we stopped by Main Street and the bakery – just in case there were items there that we were happy to swap our snacks for.

And it was in there, whilst I was queuing that I overheard some other people talking. I realized that I had forgotten a key fact. Today was Sunday and MK was opened to resort guests for another 3 hours! When I told DH and DS, they were both up for the experience.

We had never stayed on site before and this was officially our first experience of a Disney perk for the ‘locals’. And what a perk it turned out to be for us!!

On top of finding out that we had 3 bonus hours, we also found a number of snacks at the Main Street Bakery that we were happy to trade for our snack credits.

I know we saw a number of turtles in the Everglades, but this is my all-time favourite turtle – macadamia flavour.

We also picked up some cinnamon rolls, that we had for breakfast on one of the mornings at BCV. Even though it was a couple of days later, we warmed them up in the microwave and they were AMAZING!

We then headed to Guest Relations and left our package there for us to pick up on the way out.

After a quick family conference, we decided on the rules for the night. We were going to get on any rides all 3 of us wanted to get on. We also decided on a “no photograph” policy for the rest of the night….so, apologies for the lack of pictures (but I’ve obviously cheated and substituted with ones that I found from 5 years ago).

We headed for Adventureland and hit Pirates of the Caribbean. In our visits to date and because there were a heap more people at the parks than anticipated, we hadn’t quite made our way to POC. On this night, all we had to do was flash our local i.d. card and we were able to walk straight on.
We were pleased to find that DS enjoyed the ride. He has previously been on the ride 5 years ago and also at DL; but this was the first time he has enjoyed it without being scared.

DH and I contemplated doing the Jungle Cruise – but DS was keen on a bigger thrill.

So, it was on to Frontierland. We had all decided to avoid the nearby waterfall as we didn’t want to walk around with wet clothes for the rest of the night.

    (Picture taken June 2005)

So, we headed out to the local scenic railway instead. We flashed our local card i.d. and were allowed to walk straight on again!

    (Picture taken June 2005)

DS really loved this ride. So we did the ride again….and again…..and again. Yes, we did this ride 4 times in a row and every single time, we walked straight on. You really gotta love EMH when it works like this!

We walked through Liberty Square, where I was keen to go to the creepy looking grand mansion. Sadly, neither DH nor DS were brave enough to step in the Haunted Mansion. So, we kept going to Fantasyland.

It was also walk straight on to It’s a Small World and we almost had a boat to ourselves; except for two very quick people that jumped on at the last minute. I still think it's full of American Girl Dolls but no one would sell me one!

We then made a beeline for the elephant ride. It might have been past 11.00 pm; but there were still heaps of people (and kids) queuing for Dumbo. We had to wait 20 minutes to get on – but it is one of DS (and my) favourite rides. We just love riding it together and fighting over who gets to move the switch!

(Picture taken June 2005. DS is not happy because I won the switch fight that time!)

We looked at Peter Pan and the stand-by wait time was 50 minutes. We got in line and queued for about 10 minutes before I realized that I had picked up some fast passes earlier and still had them on me. We immediately jumped out of stand-by and into the fast pass line. We managed to get on the ride within 10 minutes. I know it’s not one of the big rollercoaster rides and it is a little bit dated; but I just love looking down on London and seeing Big Ben and the Thames.

DS and I wanted to go on the Tea Cups again but DH wasn’t keen on being spun round; so we moved on.

We broke the ‘no photography’ rule walking through the castle.

It was really nice to have the place to ourselves without the crowds that were there this week.

Then it was time for Tomorrowland where we got on the Speedway (twice).

We also went on BLSRS again (I still whooped the boys and for the record I’ve averaged somewhere between 400,000 and 450,000 this trip for this ride. Not stellar by any stretch of the imagination; but enough for the boys and the extended family to know who is the family queen of this ride) and by this stage, it was near closing time for the locals.

We contemplated doing Space Mountain before leaving – DS had never been on this ride before and he wasn’t sure that he wanted to go on it, so we didn’t push it and decided it was time to go.

We had pretty much hit all our favourites at MK today and thanks to Pixie Dust Wishes and Extra Magic Hours, it ended up being a GREAT day afterall.

I love turtles! They are the freaking best! We stayed at DL till suppppper late last year. It didn't rain and it was really nice. I kind of regreated it though because we were so tired the next morning I had to let DH sleep until noon. He was done. So I think I would take advantage of the EMH more...

I love your food porn! Haha!

Did you get the cook book? I did...I still haven't made anything out of there yet but I'm working on it. :) I want to make Lemon Grass Risotto maybe I should blog about the trials of making Disney Food haha!

I got one of those macadamia clusters too. I would have liked the nuts to have been salted but they were delicious!

Sounds like you had a great night, we got so much done on our EMH night!

What a great night! You guys got so much done. I love BTMRR at night, it seems faster or something, I know it's not, but it feels like it is! Next trip I'm determined to close down the MK on an EMHs night with my boys, I think it would be so much fun to be in the park so late.

I looked at the cook books and couldn't decide which one I wanted :sad2:! And then I didn't think I had room in my bag to carry it back....we ended up having to buy bags in San Marcos so that we could carry all the shopping back to Oz. I might be adding the cook book to DH's shopping list for October....I'm still "might not be returning" at this stage :rotfl2:.

Yes, you're right!! Those macadamia clusters just need a pinch of salt to really lift the taste!

I'm waiting for the next installment of your TR. I figure you're up to EMH night at MK as well...

Yup, I think the turns and corners at BTMRR are tighter than the other rides; which makes it seem faster. And for some reason, I think BTMRR is better at WDW than DLR. (But I prefer POC at DLR - there is at least one more drop at DLR than at WDW.)

Wow! You got a ton of stuff done during EMH! It's fun to be at the MK so late at night. The Wishes dessert party sounds sooo good. Maybe on a future trip...

    This always interests me :goodvibes
POC at DLR wins hands down because it is longer, containing more scenes than the WDW version.
(Of course being stuck in a boat jam for 20mins in the one scene spoils it a little  )

As for BTMRR - night is awesome!!!:thumbsup2:woohoo:
The Paris one is my favourite but I think WDW followed by DLR would be 2nd and 3rd.

Sigh....I'm really missing the Magic Kingdom after reading this :sad1:
thankfully I'm munching on a BC Gingerbread Shingle as I read so I'm not drooling :rotfl2:

When I was originally planning this trip, I had booked a “just us” character breakfast at Cape May. However, after our EMH night at MK, we all found it pretty difficult to wake up in the morning. (What was I thinking??? I must have obviously not thought about attending pm EMH at all!!)

We ended up being only about 15 minutes later than our original ADR time. We were all a little bit slow this morning and so I forgot to take food pictures.

I enjoyed my breakfast at Cape May – it was less crowded than Tusker House and there was a very leisurely feel to the whole morning. For the record – I thought that the breakfast at Tusker House was better from a food selection and diversity perspective; but there was nothing wrong with Cape May’s.

It must have been a slow morning all round because the CM told us that there were only 3 characters in their Beach outfits for the day.

Goofy kept patting me on the back for some reason.

Donald kept playing patty-cake with DS.

And this one was the highlight for me. I had missed Minnie all of last week! And I just love her beachwear. This picture with Minnie meant that my collection with the Fab 5 was complete for this trip.

Totally agree with this! POTC in DL not only has an extra drop, it is quite a bit longer as well. I used to love the Pirates ride at WDW, and I still enjoy it, it just pales in compairson to it's counterpart on the west coast, as does Space Mtn.......

I don't know where DS keeps his EverReady Battery - but he just seems to go and go and go and go and go....
I might have been fine in the morning; but the afternoon was a different story!

DH and DS never ride with me anymore :sad2:. But I'm totally abysmal at TSM!

And yes, you're right. I'm going to spend some time this weekend getting a "might not return" ticker organised and updating my profile with the ticker and thread.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who thinks this!

We love Character Breakfasts for this reason....hate standing in line waiting forever too. You got real lucky with all those princesses!!

A benefit of staying in an Epcot resort is the proximity to not just Epcot but DHS. After breakfast at Cape May, we chose to take the Friendship boat to DHS instead of walking or driving.

We were through the gates at 9.45 am, which was late for us. We didn’t linger around Hollywood Blvd; my two boys are really into the Guitar Hero rock music. So, it was only natural that our first stop was here.

I wanted to head off for TSM fastpasses but with standby time of 10 minutes, we got in line.

We were all nervous about going upside down. Afterall, if humans were meant to defy gravity, we would all have self-inflatable balloons instead of lungs. And we would be breathing helium; not an oxygen/nitrogen mix. But I figured that the Disney magic would keep us in the right place, like this car.

And I was right! RnRC is a now family favourite. When we came out, standby was still 10 minutes so we rode it again.

And DS scored big with a new t-shirt. Is it just me; or did anyone else notice that tie-dye was back in fashion at the World?

The boys rode RnRC a third time – I declined because that headache was starting up again and my cough was so bad that I barely heard any of the Aerosmith music during my second ride. Perhaps the pm EMH was also catching up on me.

Whilst the boys were doing RnRC for the third time, I looked over at ToT and contemplated the stand-by queue of 10 minutes. Anyone who has read my PTR will know that I had my own real life experience of ToT in an office building. I was in a lift that free-fell about 6 floors before the emergency brakes took hold. I had been determined to experience ToT this time.
    Just call me chicken!

Instead I rushed off to get fastpasses for TSM and by the time I got there, the return time was out to 1.55 pm!! Not a good sign – this probably meant that there were a lot of people in the park already!

The boys got sidetracked at another character spot.

Sometime real soon, DS will work out whether he loves or hates Lotso. For the moment, he played it safe!

I managed to weave some teleportation magic and got there in time for this memory. For me, this is my all time favourite Mickey’s costume.

By this time, the extended family called us to say that they had arrived. We met them near the hat, where we saw some favourite friends.

    I think someone’s been on a diet…

And I defy anyone to be miserable on a day like today!

We headed to the Beauty and the Beast stage, as it was close on show time. We didn’t catch this show 5 years ago because it clashed with Indiana Jones and the timings didn’t ever work out for us. So, I’m really glad to have been able to see this today. I love the music and I think that Beauty and the Beast is one of the two cartoon musicals that revived the Disney brand in the 90’s (the other being The Little Mermaid).

We headed back to RnRC after the show – DH, DS, DB and my niece wanted to do the ride and the rest of us waited for them. Stand-by time was 20 minutes; so my fears of a crowded park were unfounded (so far).

I then headed back to TSM to see if I could pick up another set of fast passes for the entire family. Stand-by was 75 minutes; and return time was 3.30 pm!

The rest of the family decided it was time for lunch! Despite the fact that today was the first day that we were no longer on the Quick Service Dining Plan, we ended up at yet another Counter Service eatery –Rosie’s All American Café.

    I got the double Cheeseburger.

I won’t be rushing back here.

DS got the Chicken Breast nuggets.

DH got the Green Salad; probably the pick of the lot.

We then all ran towards the Streets of America – there was only one performance of Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt show left for the day. And this was the one show that I was determined to make!

5 years ago, we got fast passes for the 4.30 pm show. But it was a very hot day and DS decided to have a rare meltdown that day. We ended up having to give the fast passes away and leave the park early.

We managed to find great seats and video taped the entire show! Sorry – no photos! I’m so glad I saw LMA this time round – we just loved all the stunts; and I now really wish that we had made this show 5 years ago as well.

The extended family wanted to linger down the Streets of America and our fast pass window was up; so we headed to do TSM.

I definitely think that this park is defying gravity somehow!

I might be queen of BLSRS; but I’m beyond pathetic on TSM. Both DH and DS beat me hollow on this ride (everytime here and in DLR)! I feel a little guilty now that we didn’t offer our fast passes to the nephew and niece then; but I really love TSM and we got to the park earlier to pick these up.

We arranged to meet up with the rest of the family in Streets of America. All that to-ing and fro-ing from one end of the park to the other was not good for my headache and I decided to call it a day. The BCV resort and bed beckoned!

I also knew from experience that the afternoon at DHS was going to be spent in search of lycra – specifically multicoloured lycra.

The 3 kids had indeed spotted the rainbow materials and were starting to chase photographs and autographs. I only had one question in mind - I wonder how much Body Glide these 5 go through in a week?

When the boys headed back to BCV later in the day, I gather from the boys that the rest of day panned out as expected.

Some of the extended family ended up catching the Indiana Jones afternoon show.

The family also redeemed their TSM fast passes at the appropriate time. Check out the 90-minute stand-by time! I figured that the park was busy; and everyone was standing in line here!

We got a full set of the lycra colours photographs and autographs, which pretty much took up all the rest of the afternoon.

Pink and yellow are missing from the above set because they contain all 3 kids and I don’t have permission to post pictures of my nephew and niece.

And DS looked like he had a great day.

I just have one other thing to include about our DHS day. On my way out, I remembered to stop at Starring Rolls and drooled over all the cupcakes, particularly the Chocolate Butterfinger cupcake and the Marble cupcake. I ended up buying a Chocolate Butterfinger cupcake, taking it back to BCV and storing it in the refrigerator. We ended up eating this a couple of days later.

I now know and understand what all the fuss is about the Starring Rolls cupcakes. This is easily by far, hands down, the best cupcake I’ve ever tasted….EVER!
Even though the cupcake was a couple of days old, the cake was still moist and fluffy. The chocolate fudge in the center was creamy and chocolate-y without being overly sickly sweet and the Butterfinger frosting on top of the cupcake perfectly balanced the cupcake and fudge.

And for anyone who has yet to taste this delectable snack – Beware! It is incredibly rich and filling. It took the 3 of us to make a reasonable hash at finishing the cupcake!

[Up next – Around the Boardwalk, an Iron Chef dinner and SAB at night]

Isn't RnRC the best?! I too waited a long time to ride it because I was afraid of the upside down part, but once I finally got on, it became one of my favorite rides in all of WDW!

I love the pic of your DS jumping for joy at the end of the day :goodvibes

Uggggg, you had to bring up the cupcake, didn't you?! I missed out on it and I was already kicking myself for it, now I'm even more bummed! I need another trip ASAP!!!

I am surprised that RNRC didn't aggravate your headache:headache: I love the ride but after this last trip I am done with it....it hurts my head soooo much :sad2: that I can't even enjoy it. I have no problem with the upside down, etc...it just jerks me around too much and makes me feel like my brain is being compromised!!
Starring Rolls is such a must do for me!! The layout is a little tricky with people wanting to toast bagels and such but it is worth the wait for a look at that delicious case of treats!!
