An Aussie's Journey. Our final meal before coming home (food porn)....the last post!

To me $200 for a meal for 12 is a bargain too! I LOVE chinese food it looks delicious. I miss those big family reunions/dinners the best memories ever. :)

Yeah, I agree about $200 for a meal for twelve being a bargain :lmao: Especially at a restaurant. You can obviously do it cheaper at home, but it's more difficult at a restaurant :)

I'm still fighting jetlag so am wide awake at 3am. Luckily I had about 12 pages of your trip report to catch up on!

Love all the pics and recaps. We stayed at Dolphin and went past BCV and Boardwalk nearly every day, so it was neat to see that we were in the same places :).

Do you keep a diary while you're travelling? I can't imagine how you remember so much detail. I'm sorry to say that if I ever get around to writing a trip report that it won't be nearly as long or detailed.

Have to agree with you on the Kim Possible missions, my kids absolutely loved them and it turned out to be a highlight of the trip :).

My aunt chose a Chinese restaurant nearer Anaheim. We decided to order one of the banquets and here’s what we ate.

So what was the name of the restaurant? Everything looks fabulous, not that I have family that I could go there with, but I have plenty of friends who live close enough to go!

Well, we'll be having a couple reunion dinners in October! :thumbsup2

:) And it's a bonus that the food was pretty tasty!

Welcome back! Hope you had a great trip and I can't wait to see your pictures. I don't keep a diary...The photos help bring back the memories....
I have an elephant memory that resembles swiss cheese. Somethings I remember and its solid....othertimes, there are huge holes in it :rotfl2:.

So what was the name of the restaurant? Everything looks fabulous, not that I have family that I could go there with, but I have plenty of friends who live close enough to go!

I knew you were going to ask that question....and I had one of those swiss cheese moments and can't remember the name. Its on Walnut in Irvine; and we took the Jeffrey Road exit to get to it as we were approaching from San Diego....There are Vietnamese/Chinese shops when you turn into Walnut. This restaurant was on the right hand side of Walnut. It was a Seafood restaurant and NOT the Shabu Shabu (see what I mean about elephant swiss cheese?).

Enjoy!

Love all of your photopass pics, you really got some great ones! :goodvibes

I have to agree as well, $200 for 12 people is a bargain! Your meal looked fantastic.

Love all the food porn! Do you have a blog or something? So yummy! I love the photo pass pictures!! Too cute!

Welcome back! Yes, the meal was pretty good.

I love food :lovestruc! I don't have a blog other than here. FB is too social for my liking....but I can see the attraction.

At the start of every holiday I go on, I always feel a tinge of sadness amidst the excitement and pleasure of being on holiday. The sadness comes from the fact that I know that when I start a holiday, that the end is inevitably close by as well.

In my recent trips to the US, I've found a way to celebrate the end of the holiday; thus making the end something to look forward to as well.

We've recently taken to flying out of LAX to come back to Melbourne; instead of the other choice of hubbing out of SFO via Sydney and then Melbourne. Whilst I personally prefer SFO airport to LAX, one of the joys of having a late night flight out of Los Angeles is that we can have our final meal at the Cheesecake Factory.....in Anaheim. And of course have a final stroll through the Anaheim DownTown Disney (and shopping) might also be part of the attractiveness of this port :rolleyes1.

This trip was no exception. We had a great time visiting my aunt; and on the day of our flight we departed in such timely fashion from her place (under the guise of avoiding peak hour traffic in LA) that I knew we would have the better part of 4 hours to spend in DTD, Anaheim. To cater for this, I had deliberately packed our carry on luggage light; and ensured that between the 3 of us, we only had 2 carry-on cases when we left my aunt. Because.....when we got to the airport, we were on the borderline of acceptable carry-on weight and had acquire an extra package to take on board with us!!

I know that there are heaps of restaurants in DTD; but DH and I have a preference to have our final meal at the Cheesecake Factory.

Here's what we ate:

This is DH and my favourite appetiser! I could easily demolish two serves of this by myself. For tonight, we "shared"....and to our surprise we found that DS has also developed a fondness for this as well.

DH decided to go with the salad for entree! He was thinking of that "supper" meal that we were sure to get on the plane.

DS went for ...what else? Parmesan cheese....with a little bit of pasta on the side.

I decided to go with a burger. I was obviously not thinking about the plane supper...or I knew what I was not going to get on the flight....

This burger was probably the best of the trip; but no where coming anywhere near my expectation of a perfectly cooked burger!

I have to say that on this trip, I had two or three burgers; and one order of beef steak. In all occassions, I ordered my meat to come out medium/rare....and in all occassions the meat came out overdone and definitely on the well done side.

I'm going to have to cross that sacred cow in the next trip.....and order my meat rare! Maybe then I'll get it cooked medium, exactly how I like it!

And with this post, my TR comes to a close. I hope that you have enjoyed reading my report as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

And if you haven't noticed, I have actually started another PTR (link in my signature) and ticker....about my "might not be a might not be trip", which may (not) take place in the last week of October 2010 amidst F&W (more food porn in my (not) TR yet to (not) be :sad2:) and MNSSHP. I hope that you stop by that PTR and occassionally post a response....so that I stay on page 1 of the PTR forum :rotfl2:!

Thanks for sharing my trip down memory lane with me.

Thanks Kayce! I was just fortunate to have a decent amount of time in August to complete my PTR. It is winter here and its been particularly cold and damp; so not much fun being outside....unlike where you are! Looking forward to seeing you on my PTR...and I'm hoping to catch your PTR for December??

Thanks Trish. I feel like I've come back with more food photos than Disney photos !

I'm definitely going to end up NOT NOT going in Oct :rotfl2:. Just waiting on DH to sort out his flight details before I end up booking my stuff. :rolleyes1

We love eating at the Cheesecake Factory....it's become a tradition for us to have a final meal there, when in LA/Anaheim.

Thanks for reading and following my TR!
