A Peach on the Beach! 4 Night Disney Dream 5/18-5/22/15 Updated 3/18/16

Past some seating areas

GOPR1359_zpsfrlcjkfv.jpg

We were making our way all the way around the water to the beach area

GOPR1360_zpsopbhgdkr.jpg

There were tons of little water ways everywhere

GOPR1361_zps50aoeh7v.jpg

THIS WAS SOOO COOL!!!!

There were sharks in here and the color was amazing

GOPR1364_zps6cwbmw3c.jpg

GOPR1365_zpskpbdu0uy.jpg

GOPR1366_zpsad8wwtb0.jpg

GOPR1367_zpstf5jowz1.jpg

Right next to the sharks there was another seating/eating area - Lagoon Bar/Restaurant

GOPR1368_zpsblrvpnzc.jpg

GOPR1369_zpsp9bma7sz.jpg

The details were amazing. This is the ceiling

GOPR1370_zpsl9xcehgu.jpg

Carry on!

GOPR1371_zpsmkdgg4xd.jpg

There was a great view from this point so I snapped a pic of Andy

GOPR1372_zpsyyhbq5dk.jpg

GOPR1373_zpslupnp6zb.jpg

There was an area for rental of water toys

GOPR1374_zpsif7pzhff.jpg

GOPR1375_zpss2ivpifb.jpg

GOPR1376_zpsxdxu70ux.jpg

And then shockingly, more walkways! lol

GOPR1377_zpsediligdl.jpg

We continued our march along the path past Blue Adventures

GOPR1378_zpsy9w0o96x.jpg

and all the big water toys - they looked like a lot of fun

GOPR1379_zpsveun0qnf.jpg

We were getting close to our destination

GOPR1380_zpsyygj9jux.jpg

Seating area for the quick service food

GOPR1381_zpsl9g2tcwy.jpg

Soft pretzels and other food was available here

GOPR1382_zpsmyg9qrks.jpg

GOPR1383_zpsy3rapowf.jpg

And here it is! The beach!

GOPR1385_zpse6aswwzy.jpg

The beach was not very crowded at this point and we decided to find a spot to park ourselves

GOPR1387_zps3v3i1fkg.jpg

GOPR1389_zpssjo74rlf.jpg

GOPR1390_zps7k9oikep.jpg

GOPR1392_zpsyo5dcqip.jpg

GOPR1393_zpsoiwr3s0s.jpg

GOPR1394_zpsyplwyttq.jpg

The water was really nice

GOPR1399_zpsavz5sx73.jpg

GOPR1401_zpskmvgjmcw.jpg

And we were finally settled in to our spot for the day.

GOPR1403_zpswi39j2gs.jpg

GOPR1405_zpsmzontxp7.jpg

Andy decided to head out into the water to snap a few underwater pics with the gopro

GOPR1413_zpsuj0fq6lx.jpg

There wasn't much to see but he did find a few fish

GOPR1420_zps5rdhdhuz.jpg

GOPR1421_zps0sdwwarn.jpg

GOPR1422_zpscsouqzgh.jpg

In looking at the pics I think he may have been chasing around the same fish or two lol

GOPR1426_zpsdwdchucn.jpg

This is when it happened. The title of this trip report. The peach on a beach.

We had been discussing that Deb wanted to pick up her daughter a wooden flute while we were in port. She often picked up drum sticks for her other daughter who plays percussion but had never grabbed a flute souvenir for her daughter who plays the flute.

As we were sitting enjoying a cocktail along came a local selling various items and one of them happened to be...you guessed it...little wooden flutes.

GOPR1428_zpsqsomwtgw.jpg

Once we mentioned a flute, she literally started jumping around dancing and playing one of the little wooden flutes.

I honestly cannot even explain how hilarious this whole situation was.

After a bit of price haggling, once Deb decided to buy one of the flutes the girl said to Deb. "You're just a peach on the beach".

The drinks we had been consuming might have helped but seriously - we could not stop laughing at Deb being a peach on the beach.

GOPR1429_zps2hvzvoqw.jpg

Deb looked over her choices

GOPR1432_zps08wpuljy.jpg

There were also little turtle yo- yos in the box

GOPR1433_zpsw4uzdkxx.jpg

After a bit in the sun it was time to find a restroom. There honestly is nothing very close by

GOPR1436_zpsuknjcfoh.jpg

So off Andy and I went down more pathways

GOPR1437_zps2mpypc6r.jpg

Over a wooden bridge

GOPR1439_zpsstnizaaf.jpg

We kept searching around

GOPR1440_zps0aziy7z2.jpg

GOPR1441_zpsz2britpq.jpg

still looking

GOPR1442_zpskmfrzant.jpg

to a pool area

GOPR1443_zps60uflm9i.jpg

GOPR1444_zpstoetc8at.jpg

There was a Starbucks - it's everywhere!

GOPR1445_zpssuyibex6.jpg

In the background you can see where the waterslide area is

GOPR1446_zpshmxooyul.jpg

GOPR1447_zps1rnydvkg.jpg

I went over to peek at the water area. It was so neat! Inside those big windows is an aquarium type area where a tube ride goes through inside of it. It passes right by the sharks, etc. that are in the tank

GOPR1448_zpscj08rrhx.jpg

We could see people riding in tubes - one had a go pro - i bet they got some amazing video. I kept thinking how much my kids would love this!

GOPR1449_zpsa2dhlwav.jpg

GOPR1450_zps1slbs55o.jpg

GOPR1451_zpsbhsky584.jpg

GOPR1452_zpsinq6yqkv.jpg

One of the sharks came right up to the side

GOPR1453_zpslzpzlzhp.jpg

GOPR1454_zpsisygzv0b.jpg

GOPR1455_zps3htokldw.jpg

After a quick restroom break we made our way back to our friends who were still on the beach to discuss finding some lunch. The Atlantis Beach Day excursion with Disney included a quick service type lunch at one of a few select venues and by now we were starting to get hungry.

Back around the pool area:

GOPR1457_zpspm7eqgtd.jpg

There was a "Shark Bites" restaurant right by the pool that we passed by

GOPR1459_zpsyxrfhsej.jpg

back over the big wooden bridge

GOPR1461_zpsopg3ilpx.jpg

GOPR1462_zpscdtw6uue.jpg

GOPR1463_zpsmtmu42x5.jpg

GOPR1464_zpso5spkkos.jpg

GOPR1465_zpsnce0w10l.jpg

to find the peach on the beach

GOPR1466_zpsxh2llckk.jpg

Andy stopped to cool off for a minute after our walk

GOPR1469_zpshy1guqk7.jpg

GOPR1470_zpsontks5kl.jpg

We met up with Deb & Tim who had been enjoying some sun

GOPR1471_zpsuz5rbdrr.jpg

It was overcast but never rained

GOPR1475_zpsejho9p5c.jpg

We made our way over to the foodstand that was near the beach entrance to see what we could find for lunch

GOPR1477_zps2jmduvwo.jpg

The seating area I took a pic of earlier that had been empty was now PACKED!!!! Deb waited to see if a table would open while we went and picked up food. Luckily she eventually got one just as we came back with the food which was a looooooooong wait. Tim and Deb both had hot dog combos, Andy had fish and chips (definitely the best choice) and I believe I had fried chicken. Everything was tasty and the portions were a good size.

GOPR1483_zpsowzeswt8.jpg

After lunch we decided we were done on the beach and would explore the rest of Atlantis

GOPR1494_zpsdz7zbqqa.jpg

So we walked back towards the main building

GOPR1496_zpsoodbbwta.jpg

This is the area where you grab tubes for the waterslides

GOPR1497_zpsibbioyyw.jpg

We talked about a return trip to Atlantis in the future while cruising with the kids and decided we would definitely do the waterslides with them. They would have a blast here.

GOPR1498_zpsc2crjjde.jpg

GOPR1499_zpskyadpu8p.jpg

Here's where you come out at the bottom of the slides

GOPR1500_zpsgxbsgaz4.jpg

GOPR1501_zpstxzmk59p.jpg

GOPR1503_zpsibggpwxv.jpg

opposite the slides is another pool area

GOPR1504_zpsutpyvpkc.jpg

GOPR1505_zpsuhkjggmf.jpg

GOPR1506_zpsripl6zm4.jpg

There was a really neat fountain up by the main building that we stopped to look at

GOPR1512_zpszkegc2o4.jpg

As we were standing there a family came up with a young child. First they took his picture sitting on the fountain. However, they then had him CLIMBING the fountain. Literally climbing up it to get to the top. Seriously? I have kids and would never have my kid climbing through a fountain. I felt bad for the kid you could tell he didn't want to do it and it looked dangerous to me. Oh well - moving on :confused3

GOPR1514_zpsb7dxxlyy.jpg

There was a sign for cabana availabilty:

GOPR1515_zpsxk2bnjim.jpg

GOPR1517_zpsv31zjlml.jpg

GOPR1522_zpszvvdmwou.jpg

There was a Ben & Jerry's nearby for anyone who wants an ice cream fix

GOPR1523_zpsnzmipu1f.jpg

We decided to head into the aquarium area " The Dig"

GOPR1526_zpsnmov6x53.jpg

It was really neat in here

GOPR1527_zpsykqbm31i.jpg

GOPR1529_zps2pafdvsb.jpg

GOPR1531_zpsyczetczx.jpg

We took our time wandering through the Dig checking out all of the different fish along the way

GOPR1533_zpsdq18ztt3.jpg

GOPR1535_zpseruqv13y.jpg

GOPR1536_zpsmg20zobr.jpg

GOPR1537_zpss65lbhli.jpg

GOPR1540_zpsd99klskb.jpg

This photo turned out absolutely terrible but there was a little gift shop where they were selling an Atlantis Monopoly board game. I went back and forth about buying it and finally decided I didn't want to carry it but I really wished that I had picked it up after we left. I guess I just need to go back again!

GOPR1541_zpsg0hiakvw.jpg

Here it is! Atlantisopoly :sad::sad::sad:

GOPR1543_zpswizgnxut.jpg

GOPR1544_zpstjzj815m.jpg

Andy was probably trying to distract me from Atlantisopoly with a key chain :rotfl2:

GOPR1542_zpsc6k9c24a.jpg

There was a little jellyfish section

GOPR1545_zps3ctm6wm3.jpg

It's kind of hard to tell but the fish in this next area were HUGE!

GOPR1547_zpsesnautdp.jpg

GOPR1548_zpsvkvms6ka.jpg

GOPR1549_zpswzlt9jx6.jpg

GOPR1551_zpshdcttqrv.jpg

GOPR1553_zpskoomhndv.jpg

Very excited to see the rest! Just booked a 4 night for May 2016....almost an identical trip! It looks like so much fun!

We wandered past the shops

GOPR1565_zpszaggogrg.jpg

GOPR1567_zpsspvolx8w.jpg

GOPR1568_zpst6lz56wo.jpg

We stopped by some of the statues

GOPR1571_zpskl39kui3.jpg

Then we spotted THIS. I did my best to talk Andy into sitting in it but he wouldn't LOL. Luckily Tim agreed

GOPR1572_zpsamfm5e4j.jpg

GOPR1574_zpsovk2a1ei.jpg

GOPR1575_zpsq095mq1t.jpg

Next we found the casino and decided we wanted to go in to play some slots

I'm sure you probably aren't supposed to take pics but I snagged a couple

GOPR1576_zps84t4ni3a.jpg

I'm pretty sure the drinks on the gaming floor were free and we just tipped the waitress

GOPR1577_zps2fpd0ovf.jpg

While we were there - Tim won over $450! Not bad! paid for their excursion and some "booze" LOL

GOPR1579_zpsth5erepp.jpg

GOPR1580_zpsl2yqom6o.jpg

When we were done playing the slots we decided to hit some of the shops for a few souvenirs.

GOPR1581_zpsfprplqml.jpg

GOPR1582_zpsyfcyxrhi.jpg

GOPR1583_zpsfctfo5np.jpg

GOPR1584_zps771nt9ue.jpg

GOPR1585_zpsk4qazaoz.jpg

GOPR1586_zpsynk0dhiz.jpg

After picking up some souvenirs we decided to head back to the port. We went out front and were able to track down a shuttle bus that would take us back. I honestly thought it was a bit chaotic - not really organized at all.

GOPR1588_zpsfbj4r1hk.jpg

GOPR1589_zpsp2micwt6.jpg

GOPR1590_zpssh0mnnme.jpg

GOPR1593_zpsp8jpx7jy.jpg

GOPR1594_zpsf2zavcne.jpg

I think our shuttle might have said Carnival on it, but luckily we ended up in the right place

GOPR1596_zpschm33rtw.jpg

We made our way back over the bridge

GOPR1599_zpsouwvo2o6.jpg

Our driver

GOPR1604_zpsqeyzwoow.jpg

GOPR1605_zpsclhowubc.jpg

GOPR1606_zpsstztnq8n.jpg

little food stands, etc along the way

GOPR1613_zpsnywo7dap.jpg

church and cemetery

GOPR1615_zpsuywqeoex.jpg

GOPR1618_zpsst2szsfb.jpg

and finally back at the port.

GOPR1622_zpsax675ffj.jpg

Overall we enjoyed our visit to Atlantis. I did not feel that the Disney excursion was worth $99 per person. If we return, we will do comfort suites and visit Atlantis waterslides, etc. via taxi on our own. I'm glad we tried it once.

At this point we still had time before we needed to be back on the ship so we decided to check out the port area. Honestly, there is VERY little to see here. The usual vendors selling items and food/drink vendors and that is about it. I can see why many choose to stay on the ship. This would not be worth getting off for in my opinion

GOPR1623_zpsvsiu1lqo.jpg

GOPR1624_zpswaz91wkw.jpg

GOPR1625_zpsg8a8un4c.jpg

GOPR1626_zpsmyzz8fme.jpg

GOPR1627_zpshzt2xd14.jpg

We wandered around checking out the shops very briefly but we didn't buy anything. It seemed more like a local hangout than anything else to me.

Tim found some security and took a pic. You can see the hair braiding area in the background.

Continuing on through the vendors:

No one seemed to be trying too hard to sell anything to anyone which surprised me

GOPR1663_zpsjd0ntcnx.jpg

GOPR1664_zpsqcdyvjzc.jpg

Now here's something I haven't seen in a while!

GOPR1665_zpsqtsnfxab.jpg

Terrible pic but it's my proof I was here

GOPR1666_zpsdrv2aldg.jpg

A little more wandering around

looking back - it was pretty much empty

GOPR1684_zpspatwvimm.jpg

Waiting our turn

GOPR1685_zpsmbzrm3ob.jpg

Annnnnd we're in!

GOPR1688_zpsiqljxsbb.jpg

After all of that "hard work" we decided we would head to our room for a few cocktails. This is something I'm really going to miss with the change in the alcohol policy. Even though we bought PLENTY of cocktails on board, we still enjoyed being able to have a few drinks while getting ready for dinner, etc.

Time for a few tasty shots:

G0191689_zpsdjocbvqr.jpg

yum yum

GOPR1691_zpsxevvy6ak.jpg

After that we headed up to the quick service food area to get a snack as we still had several hours before dinner.

I grabbed a bowl of chili, looks like Tim had a burger and chili and someone had pizza.

GOPR1694_zpscs70wf5x.jpg

Afterwards, we headed back to the room and threw on a movie, I think it was the Hobbit while we got ready for dinner

GOPR1696_zps4rfnikkj.jpg

Once we were ready we got back together with our friends for some more drinks

GOPR1699_zpskhfrnolo.jpg

We were headed to Palo tonight to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary! hooray!

GOPR1703_zpsce05ayek.jpg

Our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we sat down in the bar area to order a drink :drinking1

GOPR1704_zpstiimavyv.jpg

i REALLY wish I could remember what the name of the drink I had was. it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Next trip I am going to do my best to take some trip notes as I go. I'm also going to cave and lug around my canon camera.

GOPR1708_zpsusurw6zz.jpg

Right after our drinks arrived our table was ready so we headed into Palo

GOPR1710_zpsffvg8a3t.jpg

They brought around the antipasto cart

GOPR1713_zpsenigx5oc.jpg

GOPR1714_zpswcg5icn1.jpg

I don't think I really ate any of this but they leave a selection at your table

GOPR1715_zpsjzitlkld.jpg

For my appetizer I ordered the calamari. Delicious!

GOPR1716_zpskj1zxkpa.jpg

Andy had a tomato mozzarella appetizer

GOPR1719_zpsvwndivpp.jpg

Next up was a sorbet to cleanse your palette

GOPR1721_zpsyssnhkph.jpg

When we were ordering I asked our waiter which risotto he would recommend - the seafood or the mushroom. He suggested the seafood so I went with that however he brought BOTH. oh my. WAYYYY to much food. BUT, I am really glad he did because both were great but I really enjoyed the wild mushroom risotto. SOOOO good!

GOPR1722_zpse2og3hfq.jpg

I believe Andy had a filet

GOPR1723_zps4rl4meng.jpg

The mushroom risotto

GOPR1724_zpsflwroykf.jpg

Then it was time for the famous chocolate souffle. Now if you can believe this, I almost didn't order this. I'm not a huge "cake" lover and i pictured it to be like a little cake. OH. MY. GOSH. Seriously. heaven on earth. delicious. It was sooooooo good I could cry just thinking about it.

GOPR1726_zps3062pfmr.jpg

Our fabulous waiter brought us a plate decorated for our anniversary. He was excellent!!! Everything was so wonderful here. I cannot say enough good things about Palo. We loved it.

GOPR1733_zps74m6kugu.jpg

GOPR1735_zpsj5pd3sna.jpg

Even the restrooms are pretty there lol
