Thank you both. We had a nice Christmas. And I am beginning to feel a bit better. I figure I better write a little more and gets this thing finished.
I believe I left off at the end of our late night at MK. the next day was pretty uneventful. I can't recall where we started the day, but we ended it at MK (yes again!), because we had ressies at Tonys.
USUALLY we love Tonys... well, I love Tonys. I always order the steak. So, DH and DS#2 have decided they too will order the steak. FINALLY, they are listening to me.
All 7 of us arrive a few minutes early, and since I am not feeling well enough to walk around we put our name in immediately. At this time we tell the desk person who looks up our ADR that we have the Tables of Wonderland Card. Then we stand until a seat becomes available. I grab the first one & the others sit fairly quickly and we all wait patiently to be called for our table. We are called and escorted to the glassed area, which is extremely loud and not good for my vertigo. I say nothing, as I can put my headset on & block the noise. I don't want to embarrass my group by asking for a different table, or be THAT guest. Little did I know the location would be the best part of this dinner.
The hostess hands out the menus. We tell her also that we are Tables of Wonderland guests. Our waitress, or as DH likes to refer to her our Wait-mess, shuffles past our table says she'll be right with us. Then we don't see her for apprx. 10 minutes. No water, no drinks, no bread. NO service. Well, we give her the benefit of the doubt as it is very busy. We do see many more wait staff than any other time we have been here, but... we give her the benefit of the doubt. When she finally comes to us, she asks what we want to drink. Not that it is a big deal, but that is HOW she asked. What do you want to drink.
No, can I get you something to drink, or what can I get you to drink. Just .... what do you want to drink. hahaha Maybe she worked at one of the other "themed" disney restaurants like 50's prime time. Again, we give her the benefit. We make it a point of telling her we are Tables of Wonderland members as well. Actually, as it was loud, I told her after DH had already told her. My lovely dinner mates thougth this was very comical. tease the crazy lady in the WC again... hardy ha ha.
She didn't particularly like that I was only drinking water. She asked me 2x ... "only water"? Yup, only water, if you want to put ice in it that would be okay. I did NOT say this, just thought it.
She brought our beverages promplty, then we didn't see her again for what seemed like 15 mins at which time she brought us bread put it on the table without making eye contact & walked away.
We were all set to order. We were hungry!! I would understand if she was waiting on another table, an order was ready, etc. She didn't make eye contact , then turned to the table behind us and asked if they were enjoying their meals, and was there anything she could do for them. At least that is what DD, DS, DDBF said was exchanged verbally.
FINALLY, she came back to take our orders. At which time DH went to ask her for more bread & beverage refills, and she ignored him & walked away. Okay. Atleast we got our food warm. Now, here is the kicker with my dining team.... only 1 other person ordered the steak! hahaha Noone listens. My steak was tasty, if I hadn't had it there so many times and had an outstanding meal, I may even say it was good. But, I would say, it was about what you would expect from a chain restaurant, similiar to a 99 restaurant, or Chilis (sorry if you don't have those where you live. They are pub type restaurants that cater to all meal styles, not exceeding at any, but all are usually a decent meal.).
DS#1 got lamb. - He stated this was delicious. He allowed his younger sister to taste it who totally enjoyed it until she found out it was lamb. At which time she got mad at her big brother for allowing her to eat such a sweet animal.
I got the steak.
DDBF & DS#2 got chicken parm, both said it was good. But, not excellent.
DD a chicken dish, I can't remember which one, but she asked if we had to eat there next time, so I assume she didnt enjoy it.
DD#2 got steak she enjoyed it, but enjoyed big brothers lamb more, well except for the obvious.
DH didn't get the steak. ... again. I can't remember what he got this time, but says if we go back he IS going to get the steak.
We finish our meals and wait for our waitress. Finally, she comes, asks if we want dessert, we tell her no. Then we wait for her to come back with the bill. and wait, and wait. To the point we thought she had forgotten us. I really did not understand. I would think they would want someone else in these seats, tips and all. I kept trying to make an explanation for this waitress behavior. I finally, decided she must be running to the bathroom, or something llike that. She just wasn't at all pleasant to our table, she was slow, we had to ask for refills and when we did she "ran" away before everyone could say if they needed refills or not. I never got a refill of water, which I needed. It was bizarre service for anywhere, but especially for Disney. Finally we got our bill and guess what... they didn't take the TIW discount off! Well, I suppose we only mentioned to EVERY person we were in contact with! Honestly, I always want to wait until the end to tell them, but I've been told & it says when you purchase it, you need to tell them ahead of time. So, I mentioned it when we made the ADR and was told to tell them when we got there. So, we thought we were being good dubbies and told the woman we checked in with, the hostess that sat us, the waitress, and STILL it wasn't taken off the bill. arggghhh We waved the waitress down, and pointed out it wasn't taken off, we showed her my license & the TIW card. She came back with the bill. THAT is when she wished DH & I a happy anniversary. hmmm tip time? We did tip, I can't not tip. I always figure you don't know what is going on is someones life. DH agreed, but would only agree to the minimum. As we left, DH stopped at the desk and mentioned the service was less than wonderful. He explained every issue, and said perhaps the waitress has got something else on her mind. The manager on duty was called over, and advised my husband that this particular waitress is usually right on top of things. He apologized, and gave DH fast passes for our entire party. DH told him that was not neccessary, that he only wanted to inform Disney, because if people don't tell them of the good and the bad, they will not know. The manager insisted DH take the passes and please try Tonys again some day.
Sorry for the rant. Seems I am complaining alot on this thread. Please know we more often than not comment on good experiences as well. I often ask to speak to a manager when I have had a pleasant CM, even if not knowing the info, if they try to get it for me, I appreciate that. So, off we all went to enjoy the remainder of our evening.
Next up, where would we use our FP's?
