A Magic and Miracles celebration vacation TR

All caught up! It must have been so nice for you to get a special wave from Peter Pan - the magic of Disney! I love that your DS chose a song from that movie for a future first dance. I do the same thing with songs though - I love the songs and sometimes the words don't quite match up for what I want them for lol I think it would still be lovely :)

Thanks Disney 9.9.10. Disney magic for sure. DS is really a sensitive kid. We'll see how he feels when he finds "the one". Or should I say how she feels about he & I dancing to that. haha

I just found the dis boards app for my phone!!! Heaven help us all...... You just thought is talked you before now!!'

I can't believe I am on the computer the Friday before Christmas. I should be baking or cleaning, but am becoming a little overwhelmed, so here I am to destress!

So, we were heading over to Adventureland, and I must be honest, I don't remember which rides we did as a group, and which just as my family & DDBF. I think we all did POC (which at night I love). Then DDFG & family left. Her son was exhausted. That was about midnight. We actually were planning on leaving after doing 1 or 2 more rides ourselves. But, we are truly addicted. 1 ride led to 2 rides which led to 3 rides which led to us ..... closing the park. :cool1: We are night owls. It would be the next morning that would be tough.

Before I get into the next morning, I do want to give a run down on the mixology course the triplets & DDBF did. I want one of them near me to make sure I don't miss anything, so this TR will have to wait. Possibly until after Christmas!

So, in case I don't check in before Christmas.... :-)lmao: ) MERRY CHRISTMAS! if you don't celebrate Christmas, a happy, merry, joyful celebration/reflection for which occassion you do recognize! Peace to everyone!

Merry Christmas to you too!!! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Merry Christmas to you too!!! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

;) starting out good. Guess what I JUST did! okay, I can't wait for you to guess. I booked 1 way ticket for 3 to ...WDW for August. We've been in June, July, Oct., Nov., Dec. so why not try August. Although, I have always said I wouldn't go when it is too hot with big crowds. But, the price was great & we leave on youngest DD's bday! So, we will surprise her!!! Best part is... the flights down are free! Between true blue points and travel credits!! All 3 flights down are free. Now, I need to save pennies to pay for the flights home. Or, maybe we'll just stay. Do you think we could hide out in the castle? :lmao:

BTW, speaking of hiding out in disney, have you ever read the Kingdom Keepers books?

mixology course

held at Epcot pavilion (the former body works building).
The attendees are DS#1, DS#2, DD#1, DDBF.
They entered the building went downstairs, checked in at the table & received their tickets. At which time they were directed to the seminar location. After their tickets and ID's were checked they sat at a table, just the 4 at their table. Three hosts stood at the front of the room and introduced themselves. Each host showed a beverage, explained what was in it. Each attendee had a list of the ingredients in each of the 3 drinks. As each host would describe the drinkk they were to create a CM would provide each attendee the beverage premade. This was a bit disappointing as, I wrongly assumed the attendee would prepare their own beverage at the direction of each host.
The 3 beverages were:

1)blackberry sage smash
2)irish zinger
3)Orlando night cap

None of my 4 liked the Orlando Night Cap beverage. They all enjoyed the other two. The favorite was the Blackberry Sage Smash.

They must have been generous with the alcohol, because even a couple hours later when they showed up at the dessert party, they all were feeling pretty "happy". :lmao:

The cost was $15 pp. IMO, and theirs, TOTALLY worth the price. Plus I was able to surprise them. Only DD knew about it. I only told her to ensure they would show up. I could imagine they would've skipped it thinking it was something lame I had signed them up for.

Oh how exciting!!!!! That's awesome that the flights were free!!! WOOHOO!!! Airfare can be sooo expensive so I'm excited for you!! I think you could hide out in the castle! I mean after all, why leave? Why not just stay for ever?? :thumbsup2

Nope I have never read the Kingdom Keepers books. I wanted to read them last summer after someone told me about them but I couldn't find the first one available anywheres and then after a while I forgot about them. Are they good?

How neat that they got to taste all of the drinks! I agree that it would have been better if they had personally had a chance to prepare the drinks themselves but for $15 I'd say that's a great class!!!

Do you guys often do classes/tours?? We've never been on one. Last time I had looked at the Magic Kingdom Family Magic Tour but decided not to do it.

I loved the first Kingdom Keepers. Personally, I think it is a little scary for young ones. DD9 just started reading it. AND there are points where they imply certain things are make believe. So, I would defiantely suggest you read it before the kids. But, a good fix for those Disney withdrawals in my opinion. :)

This is actually the 1st time "we" have taken a class/tour. Now that the triplets are older I try to do something different every time. Last time was the DTD balloon, DH & DS tried golfing, typhoon lagoon was new one time, Disney Quest. You get the idea. I would love to try one of the behind the scene tours, but we'll wait until youngest is older. Don't want to spoil those few precious years they completely believe. :goodvibes

I've been missing you D!! I hope all is well on your end and that you are just a little overwhelmed with Christmas. I know ya'll probably ended up with LOTS of snow from the storm that hit us Christmas day. Check in when you can and let us know that all is well.

Thanks Bridget. The more I do, the worse my vertigo gets, so some times if I over do it it takes days to resolve. Obviously with Christmas I over did it. Today is still not a great day, so I will not write much. I am however on for a short time reading others posts. :)

I do want to wish everyone a Happy, healthy, and magical new year!!!

Thank you for posting about the mixology class! I like reading about little things like this that I've never done before.

I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope that you are feeling better soon.

It's great to hear from you. I was worried that maybe the crazy Christmas weather had somehow messed ya'll up. I'm sorry about the vertigo. :(

I hope you also have a magical new year!!!

Thank you both. We had a nice Christmas. And I am beginning to feel a bit better. I figure I better write a little more and gets this thing finished.

I believe I left off at the end of our late night at MK. the next day was pretty uneventful. I can't recall where we started the day, but we ended it at MK (yes again!), because we had ressies at Tonys.

USUALLY we love Tonys... well, I love Tonys. I always order the steak. So, DH and DS#2 have decided they too will order the steak. FINALLY, they are listening to me. :rolleyes2 All 7 of us arrive a few minutes early, and since I am not feeling well enough to walk around we put our name in immediately. At this time we tell the desk person who looks up our ADR that we have the Tables of Wonderland Card. Then we stand until a seat becomes available. I grab the first one & the others sit fairly quickly and we all wait patiently to be called for our table. We are called and escorted to the glassed area, which is extremely loud and not good for my vertigo. I say nothing, as I can put my headset on & block the noise. I don't want to embarrass my group by asking for a different table, or be THAT guest. Little did I know the location would be the best part of this dinner. The hostess hands out the menus. We tell her also that we are Tables of Wonderland guests. Our waitress, or as DH likes to refer to her our Wait-mess, shuffles past our table says she'll be right with us. Then we don't see her for apprx. 10 minutes. No water, no drinks, no bread. NO service. Well, we give her the benefit of the doubt as it is very busy. We do see many more wait staff than any other time we have been here, but... we give her the benefit of the doubt. When she finally comes to us, she asks what we want to drink. Not that it is a big deal, but that is HOW she asked. What do you want to drink. :confused3 No, can I get you something to drink, or what can I get you to drink. Just .... what do you want to drink. hahaha Maybe she worked at one of the other "themed" disney restaurants like 50's prime time. Again, we give her the benefit. We make it a point of telling her we are Tables of Wonderland members as well. Actually, as it was loud, I told her after DH had already told her. My lovely dinner mates thougth this was very comical. tease the crazy lady in the WC again... hardy ha ha. ;) She didn't particularly like that I was only drinking water. She asked me 2x ... "only water"? Yup, only water, if you want to put ice in it that would be okay. I did NOT say this, just thought it.
She brought our beverages promplty, then we didn't see her again for what seemed like 15 mins at which time she brought us bread put it on the table without making eye contact & walked away.:confused3:confused3 We were all set to order. We were hungry!! I would understand if she was waiting on another table, an order was ready, etc. She didn't make eye contact , then turned to the table behind us and asked if they were enjoying their meals, and was there anything she could do for them. At least that is what DD, DS, DDBF said was exchanged verbally.
FINALLY, she came back to take our orders. At which time DH went to ask her for more bread & beverage refills, and she ignored him & walked away. Okay. Atleast we got our food warm. Now, here is the kicker with my dining team.... only 1 other person ordered the steak! hahaha Noone listens. My steak was tasty, if I hadn't had it there so many times and had an outstanding meal, I may even say it was good. But, I would say, it was about what you would expect from a chain restaurant, similiar to a 99 restaurant, or Chilis (sorry if you don't have those where you live. They are pub type restaurants that cater to all meal styles, not exceeding at any, but all are usually a decent meal.).

DS#1 got lamb. - He stated this was delicious. He allowed his younger sister to taste it who totally enjoyed it until she found out it was lamb. At which time she got mad at her big brother for allowing her to eat such a sweet animal.
I got the steak.
DDBF & DS#2 got chicken parm, both said it was good. But, not excellent.
DD a chicken dish, I can't remember which one, but she asked if we had to eat there next time, so I assume she didnt enjoy it.
DD#2 got steak she enjoyed it, but enjoyed big brothers lamb more, well except for the obvious.
DH didn't get the steak. ... again. I can't remember what he got this time, but says if we go back he IS going to get the steak.

We finish our meals and wait for our waitress. Finally, she comes, asks if we want dessert, we tell her no. Then we wait for her to come back with the bill. and wait, and wait. To the point we thought she had forgotten us. I really did not understand. I would think they would want someone else in these seats, tips and all. I kept trying to make an explanation for this waitress behavior. I finally, decided she must be running to the bathroom, or something llike that. She just wasn't at all pleasant to our table, she was slow, we had to ask for refills and when we did she "ran" away before everyone could say if they needed refills or not. I never got a refill of water, which I needed. It was bizarre service for anywhere, but especially for Disney. Finally we got our bill and guess what... they didn't take the TIW discount off! Well, I suppose we only mentioned to EVERY person we were in contact with! Honestly, I always want to wait until the end to tell them, but I've been told & it says when you purchase it, you need to tell them ahead of time. So, I mentioned it when we made the ADR and was told to tell them when we got there. So, we thought we were being good dubbies and told the woman we checked in with, the hostess that sat us, the waitress, and STILL it wasn't taken off the bill. arggghhh We waved the waitress down, and pointed out it wasn't taken off, we showed her my license & the TIW card. She came back with the bill. THAT is when she wished DH & I a happy anniversary. hmmm tip time? We did tip, I can't not tip. I always figure you don't know what is going on is someones life. DH agreed, but would only agree to the minimum. As we left, DH stopped at the desk and mentioned the service was less than wonderful. He explained every issue, and said perhaps the waitress has got something else on her mind. The manager on duty was called over, and advised my husband that this particular waitress is usually right on top of things. He apologized, and gave DH fast passes for our entire party. DH told him that was not neccessary, that he only wanted to inform Disney, because if people don't tell them of the good and the bad, they will not know. The manager insisted DH take the passes and please try Tonys again some day.
Sorry for the rant. Seems I am complaining alot on this thread. Please know we more often than not comment on good experiences as well. I often ask to speak to a manager when I have had a pleasant CM, even if not knowing the info, if they try to get it for me, I appreciate that. So, off we all went to enjoy the remainder of our evening.

Next up, where would we use our FP's?

oh my gosh!! I can't believe how long winded I was on that last post.... sorry.
just figured I'd finish it while I could.

We've never eaten at Tony's because we assumed it was all Italian and DH doesn't care for Italian. We are steak people so maybe it would work for us after all.

Sorry to hear about the poor service. Do you think it was because you guys were TIW? Not sure if it makes a difference but maybe they "cater" to the dining plan people? That's sad. It really is especially when you pay such high prices to eat out nice in Disney. I would give it another try and hope for better service next time.

Glad you are feeling better!

Thanks. If it is because they are catering to the DDP, that is not very smart on their part, because, DDP was free during most of our stay. We don't usually have trouble with the TiW card, but you never no. I really keep thinking this woman had something else going on in her life that was distracting her, then I remember how nice she seemed to be to the table behind. Weird. Maybe TIW people don't usually tip as well. We usually tip 20%, off the cost of the meal prior to discount, I think TIW usually adds 18%, but maybe that is before the discount. DH & I will leave an extra 2-5% depending on the service. Needless to say, this time we did not. I felt rather bad about it, but honestly, it was like she wasn't even trying to be pleasant, or timely.

However, other experiences, like Chef Mickeys, or as you will see later CRT more than made up for it. :goodvibes

Now, where did I leave off. I will go review, and post more later. :wave2: for now.
