I left off with us finishing lunch at BBB. By this time we both realized we would not be getting off to explore Key West so we just relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the day. We went out to the Quiet Cove where I found a table to catch up in my journal and mom went up to Deck 10 to enjoy the sun. Around 2:15 I remembered the Nassau shopping seminar Maxine was hosting and I really wanted a chance at winning something else. Since she had given mom the extra raffle ticket I figured we had a good chance so went up and told mom what my plans were. I was totally fine with going alone but she was happy to go with me. We needed to go back to the room to grab the raffle ticket and then headed down to the Promenade Lounge. Maxine advised us to sit in the front row because she had lots of goodies to give away and people in the front row tended to get them. Hmmm, that didnt exactly happen but it was a very educating seminar. It was an hour long and Maxine went over all the worthy shops in Nassau. Apparently Disney has done a lot of research on which shops sell authentic merchandise at the best prices. She went over jewelry, clothing, watches, and rum cakes. We were given a map of where all the shops were so were well prepared if we wanted to go shopping. We didnt win the diamonds but mom did win some hair clips that change color in the sun. Maxine would be doing another raffle at Diamonds International on Nassau between 11-noon the next day which we decided wed go to. You cant win if you dont play right?
It was a little after 4:00 and we went back to the room to drop off all the papers Maxine gave us and then headed back up to the Rainforest Room. We were actually planning on missing the show of the evening, The Golden Mickeys, since we had seen that on the Dream. Palo dinner was scheduled for 7:30 so we had a few hours to relax. First we stopped at the beverage station and then went over and got some icecream. I hadnt had icecream yet! I had banana and blueberry and mom had vanilla. The wind was absolutely ferocious and we battled our way towards the spa. Well, the Cove Café was on the way and why not stop in and see what goodies they had.
Counterclockwise starting at the bottom: an oatmeal/raisen bar, brownie/cookie bar, and mom called the last one a blondie.
The place was packed so we took our treats outside, and the wind was so blustery I almost lost the plate. I held on tight and we found ourselves some shelter near the windows. Mom loved the blondie, the brownie part was good but the cookie part tasted like it was made with molasses which I dont care for, and the oatmeal raisen was nice and moist. On the Dream the CMs have to serve you but on the Wonder you can serve yourself. After we had finished I took the plate back to them, figured it would get thrown around by the wind, and the CM didnt even give me a smile of thanks.
Then off to the spa. Included in the cruise length pass was 5 scrubs and we were asked to choose which ones we liked. I think there were five different ones, some were sugar and others were salt. We got 2 lavender, 2 orange and 1 orange/vanilla. We spent a couple hours just relaxing and reading going from the gentle sauna room to the loungers back to the gentle sauna room. You can see the pattern. Ill post the picture again to show you our favorite place.
There was only one other person enjoying a lounger while we were in there. The whole cruise it felt like we had our own personal Rainforest Room. We left around 6:30 and headed back to the room to change for Palo. We had a message from DVC saying that if we knew what Kidani meant in Swahili we would get a prize down at the DVC podium. In true DVC fashion they would help us figure out the answer so we would know for next time. Also, Maxine was giving out a special ship charm between 6:30-8:30 at her shopping desk so we wanted to go do both of those things before dinner.
Mom was a hoot and a half trying to figure out what Kidani meant. Neither of us knew and Justin had his entertainment of the evening trying to help mom along. She even left the podium and asked fellow guests down the hallway if they knew the answer. I had told her the message said they would help us if we didnt know, but she was having fun. Apparently the answer is necklace& Kidani looks like a necklace from the air? I cant see it but maybe you guys can. I cant for the life of me remember what the prize was. Then down to Maxine to get our charms where we chatted a little about Palo before heading back to the room to drop off our new goodies.
We got to Palo a little early, around 7:15, but they were happy to take us in after a few short minutes of waiting. A little backstory before going forward. On our first cruise we had Palo booked for the last night but we ended up canceling because we were enjoying our tablemates so much. In the planning phases for this cruise I asked mom if shed like to try Palo and she kept saying no, it was a new ship and we already had plenty to explore. Well Alison posted about her Palo experience and I decided to book it. I figured we could cancel if mom really didnt want to go. So as were walking to the table mom says Ive really been looking forward to this. Hmmm& maybe you shouldnt have discouraged me from making a reservation. To say that the evening was magnificent was an understatement. Hristo from Bulgaria was our server and he went above and beyond. The whole evening was so relaxed and so delicious we couldnt have had a better time.
A rare picture of yours truly
I was looking forward to that antipasto cart!
He had put the peppers on the plate before we could stop him, neither of us care for peppers, but the rest was delicious. The cheese and balsamic vinegar topped the cake though.
Deliciously fresh bread
We both started with the Mozzarella and Plum Tomatoes with Balsamic Dressing. The mozzarella was hiding underneath the tomatoes, so delicious.
Mom also had the Grilled Portobello Mushroom and Polenta with a Roasted Shallot Sauce. She said this was magnificent.
She also had the Fresh Arugula Salad with special Palo's Dressing. She said it was god but didnt need to have it.
I had the calamari. It was ok, I prefer the tentacles and didnt finish them all.
