In 2014, Disboard poster Geemo started a thread that listed the major conventions, events, and school breaks at or near DLR. Dis'ers seemed to find the thread helpful, so a 2015 version was created. This is a continuation of that thread, but for 2016!

This is NOT an official Calendar, for reference only. This is also not an all inclusive list, but I will do my best to keep it up to date. Please let me know if you hear of anything to add to the list.

Notes
This list does not include all of the conventions/events scheduled at the Anaheim Convention Center. It is only a partial listing. A full listing is available on the Anaheim Convention Center Calendar.

In terms of the conventions, for the most part, it doesn't seem like the conventions necessarily increase crowds in the parks. Large conventions are more likely to impacts availability at area hotels/motels and crowds in DTD (primarily in the evenings). There maybe some impacts of the days immediately before or after the conventions, but only a few conventions seem to actually result in Dis'ers reporting higher than expected crowds in the parks themselves. So, while large (or at least ones that look large on the calendar) conventions are listed in the calendar above, it does not mean that the parks will be busier than expected.

The Honda Center may also host events that could impact crowds at Disneyland.

There are a number of unofficial park days that happen throughout the year. Some are fairly large and can impact park crowds (e.g., Gay Days), while others (most) are fairly small and most guests won't notice that they are occurring.

Mickey's Halloween Party, 2016
Party dates were announced on July 13, 2016 via the Disney Parks Blog. Tickets go on sale to DLR Annual Passholders, Disney Visa Card holders, and DVC members on July 21, 2016 and to the general public on July 28, 2016. The dates when the MHP tickets sold out in 2014 were tracked in this post. The dates when the MHP tickets sold out in 2015 were tracked in the 2015 Calendar of Events and School Breaks & DLR.

Pricing is listed as Advance Ticket Price/Annual Passholder Advance Ticket Price/Date-of-Event Ticket Price.

Note that costume guidelines have changed for 2016. The new guidelines can be viewed on the MHP page of the Disneyland.com website.

Disclaimer: Even if the date is listed as sold out online, it is possible that tickets may still be available via the phone or in person at the ticket booths (this occurred in the past, but it is not known if it'll happen again in 2016). A limited number of tickets may also be available for "day of" purchase for onsite hotel guests, but it is not known if that will be the case again this year. It also looks like they stop selling tickets to MHP online on the day of the event. So if you want to purchase tickets online, be sure to buy them at least one day in advance.

Handmade Candy Cane Dates
The candy makers of the Disneyland Resort make a limited number of handmade candy canes on select days during the holiday season. Guests must have a wristband to purchase one of the special candy canes. The locations are the Candy Palace in DL and Trolley Treats in DCA. The dates were released via the Disney Parks Blog on November 8, 2016.

In the March 11th time frame, I think the bigger event to impact that parks is actually the Natural Product Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center. It's a huge event and folks have indicated that the parks are noticeable busier during this period. In terms of the cheerleaders, I don't know that they're going to have as big of an impact this year because the competition did move to the LA Convention Center (it used to be at the Anaheim Convention Center), so it's not as easy/fast to get to DLR.

Added the last day of the Holiday Season at Disneyland Resort (January 6). Based on the Audition information, it seems likely that this will be the last day for A Christmas Fantasy parade. They have not yet announced the dates when the overlay attractions will close to have the overlays removed.

Found the Parks Blog piece on Frozen/Aladdin. I know there have been a lot of rumors and CMs saying BTMBBQ is closing, but has Disney official announced it yet? I'd like to include the link if they have.

There's been too much inconsistency between years in the past to really be able to predict when MHP will happen, other than it seems like it's been pretty consistently on Fridays and not Saturdays (except 10/31/15) or Sundays (except 10/31/10 and 10/25/15).

See the 2015 Calendar Thread for the dates of the 2015 MHP. MHP is presented on Mon, Wed, and Fri nights from 9/25/15 through 10/19/15 (mid-October) and the schedule becomes more erratic for the last two weeks of October. MHPs that occur on Sun through Thu start at 6:00 pm, while parties on Fri and Sat start at 7:00 pm (in 2015). Just keep in mind, all this information is for 2015, so we do not yet know what the schedule will be for 2016.

Well, you know (as I do) that Disney has not announced that BTRBBQ is closing, so you know there is not a link. Not every bit of info is going to be delivered via an announcement to the public, and quite frankly -- depending on where the info is posted/located -- I don't think that everything should be linked. I have purposely avoided linking some things for various reasons. Some things are discovered and official but not announced. They also did not announce that the Star Wars Launch Bay would start on October 11th, but I found that on my own -- no announcement needed -- though it could always change.

Not only have CMs commented on Facebook to say that the BBQ and Ranch's last day is 1/10/16 (and I would never link to a CM's comments on Facebook), but someone (or maybe more than one someone??) mentioned in one thread or another on this board that when they recently talked to a CM at the BBQ, the CM confirmed that they are closing in January.
