Summer 2017 Australia bound! Trip report!

Love your trip report!! Thank you for posting this! So crazy AA wouldn't put you guys on the earlier flight for a reasonable or no cost. It is in these situations where it helps to have some kind of frequent flier status or an airline credit card, it can help reduce the same day flight change...

Help waited too long! was Best Time and Way to book

Interestingly, I just booked my third ABD and this is the first time I was informed I was allowed to switch trips, so maybe people are switching if their dates aren't working out - thus not losing the deposits, which is awesome I think since I cannot always guess if I will get my desired...

South Africa: Safari in South Africa Meets Thread

We are signed up for June 11-20, 2016, family of 4 with a "to be" 16 and 19 year old. I am studying the flights from the Midwest and am considering a stopover in Paris for 2 days to run around and stretch our legs ( and climb the Eiffel Tower). It will break up the 17 hour flight at least going...

Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

That 5:30 am monorail start has got to be a mistake, monorail service totally started around 3 am this year, and was packed with people. They would need lots more buses to accommodate the monorail traffic. It is a definite plus to stay on the monorail resort line for the Princess Half - I was at...

Questions for veterans of Peru ABD tour

We were there in July 2014, would have liked more time at MP for sure. By the time you leave the Sol y Luna, get the bus, train, bus up to to MP then repeat the series it was only 4 hours at the site. Will definitely look to go back at some point and stay at the Sanctuary Lodge in the off...

What's your opinion of Aer Lingus & Virgin Atlantic?

We got a great deal on Aer Lingus twice, flying from Chicago to London via Dublin then To Rome also via Dublin, and varied the layover to accommodate an 8 hour touring day the first time. We didn't notice a problem with the carryon luggage on the European shorter leg at all, but I think we just...

It will be nice to have the extra night to sleep. I checked the airport hotel but they seem to be booked up, at least that would have been convenient. I am glad to be at the Miraflores. I am looking at a short bike tour around for some exercise and dinner at the pyramid. I hear it is nice.

Best time to book air travel

Thanks for this. I bought my Lima tickets 99 days ahead. I will recheck at 80 days to see if the price went down!! They seemed to plateau over the past 8 months. It certainly is a game sometimes to get a good international fare. And a good route from my small hub.

Thank you for that update Bobo, hopefully this year is better, We booked 2 rooms for one prenight and I see it is one hundred dollars higher than if I booked it myself, one the website. but perhaps after all the taxes and fees and taxi fare it would be about the same? Our flight arrives at...

Excited!! My name is Michelle also! We are from Indiana but are in Hawaii now which was a 14 hour trip for Spring break. The Turkey/eastern med cruise is great, we did it last year on Celebrity, so much to see, your kids are lucky this year. Researching the air now, prices have not budged all...

My family of 4 are on for this Adventure July 24, 2014. 2 Teens, ages 14 and 17 and us parents. We are working on the flights, probably arriving late night on the 23rd and adding a pre-night at the Casa Andina in Miraflores to allow a relaxed day on the 24th. The flights from the US seem to...

    Peru 3/23/13 Trip Report

Bobo, I did back out of the trip this year as I am a big chicken; but am thinking about next year. As I am carefully studying this I agree with you. A night at Sanctuary Lodge sounds amazing, especially, as you say, that Machu Picchu is the highlight so why not spend an extra night there and...

Peru: Sacred Valley and Incan Cities Meets Thread

I spoke to ABD today, they are "aware and studying the issue" and feel that a large group with guides is safe from kidnappers. Personally, I am anxious. I have 2 children and can travel anywhere on Earth with them, why would I chance it? Maybe a large group of criminals want to grab a large...
