Doing a college tour with DD16 ? What is the best route to get there. Leaving around 9am Monday morning and thinking I don't want to take route 4 right thru orlando.

We rented a minivan for 6 people ... 4 adults and two teenagers! It was a tight squeeze with all the luggage. Literally had bags between the front seats and on laps. Fun times! We thought maybe two cars would have worked better!

We've done an adults only trip on our 15 and 20 year anniversaries. We don't often travel without the kids but we really enjoyed these trips. We too like La Quinta. We stay at one in Lake Mary, Fl. We are just outside disney but are up the next morning and on property within about 45 minutes.

We dealt with the issue of family overdoing it on gifts when my girls were pretty young. I asked my parents to put the $$$$ in a college fund. Also asked extended family to do the same...small gift and $$$ in college fund. One of the best things we ever did.

In our house we have a rule "if you don't believe you don't receive". So dd18 and dd15 get a few gifts from Santa and a few from mom and dad. We set an overall budget per daughter but it doesn't have to be exactly the same. Usually $400-500 each.

Our first DD just started college. This is our deal with her as well! She has worked as a lifeguard since she was 15 and always saved half the money (honestly it was a forced savings plan that DH and I insisted on). She is very glad to now how this stash of cash! I'm in. We moved DD#1 off to college. Spending this holiday weekend reorganizing, throwing out and donating to Goodwill. DH and I went through the house room by room today to review the projects that are needed in each room. Found that we need to have a sale on musical instruments no one plays...

Maybe it"s part of the "best kept secret" philosophy but from a marketing standpoint you'd think they'd want us all donning the DVC gear. I know I love the few things I have

Ran on Friday as well! I did a lot more walking than I'd hoped. No worries though. DH finished under 30 minutes and there weren't characters then either. Maybe it was TOO HOT for them. It was a cooker out there!
