Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

This may be the smartest thing I've ever heard - never unpacking! And keeping all the travel sized toiletries in the suitcase! Thanks for the tip - I'm going to follow suit! :thanks:

And congrats on the 6-weeks of vacation time! Color me jealous!

I have worked for the same company for 20 years, so lots of PTO is one of the perks.

We keep a hanging toiletry bag packed at all times, just grab and go. We replenish it every time we return from a trip. I don't keep my bag packed, I don't even pack that thing until around 9 pm the night before I leave, but I do keep clothes that are only for vacation in their own separate drawer. Since we never know what time of year we are going somewhere, I can't keep a bag packed because I won't know what kind of clothes I'm going to need.

I usually wear the same clothes regardless of where I travel. If I'm going to a colder climate (or Disney in January, lol!) I add a couple jackets I can layer. But otherwise, I'm usually good to go. I was at YC about five years ago in December when it was absolutely freezing cold, and the only modification I made to my normal travel clothes was layering a hoodie and fleece jacket. I usually wear capris or long pants, as I find shorts to be uncomfortable, especially when it comes to vinyl ride seats.

The only time I specifically pack something different is if I'm traveling outside the US and have to fly. Anywhere in the states I usually drive so the size and weight of the bag doesn't matter so much.

I'm staying at YC in about three weeks (yippee) and have one annoying question... it seems the refillable mug program is a PITA at YC. Once Hurricane Hannah's is closed, it can be quite the trek over to Marketplace to get a drink it seems. Is this as annoying as I'm envisioning?

Our Mousekeeper must really like us. We came back to a Mickey head balloon in the room. (Guess someone checked out today and left it behind - good recycling).

In other news it is WET. We are just back from Magic Kingdom where we watched Wishes in the pouring rain. There was a good few inches of standing water at the entrance to the park and across to the bus stop. DD and I filled the tub and just stood in it to warm our feet. Socks could be wrung out and shoes are going to take some drying. We even have the aircon on warm!!!!

The online check-in room location requests for YC and BC have changed. The only options now available are:

Adjoining room (no connecting door), ground floor, lower floor, upper floor, near elevator, king size bed

If you previously selected an option no longer offered, such as courtyard view, you need to re-select, as that preference was cleared from your reservation.

Poolside showers

Has anyone heard/seen signs of work on this? My understanding is that these will be built in space near the Ship Shape Healthclub/Spa.

From elsewhere on the Resorts forum:

I called today and spoke to a guest services CM. He told me in the recent renovations, they added showers. I am aware there are rinse off showers at the pool, I don't mean those. I mean real showers, to use on our last day before our flight home. If you've been there recently, did you take notice?

I believe they are adding some with a finish date of some time in October.

I'll post your question over on the Yacht & Beach info thread. There are a few people at the resort now
giving live reports, maybe they have seen something.

As disny_luvr indicates, we have heard October for the showers- end of the month I think.

:thumbsup2

So we were supposed to stay at BC and GF in August, but it was cancelled :( I took my mother who is on kidney dialysis and the transplant list to the beach instead. My kids still got about a month at disney in the past year lol. so it wasn't too sad. But we really were looking forward to checking out beach club. I just went by myself and booked a bounce back! So we are heading to our first Beach Club stay next July! 2 Weeks with free dining! Kids are so excited!

I noticed this when I checked my reservation online last night. However I still had the option to select "large balcony".
