Disney Gift Card Deals

So I'm back in the game lately, with just 4 months to save up for a Disneyland trip!
Got my DVA prepped with 120 days of time before we'll have to pay off the balance.
My first round of grinding has gone okay... but ran into a hitch at Target.
I placed 4 orders, 3 were covered all by Gift Cards... 1 had $0.50 left over that I would just throw on my Red Card. This order got cancelled. It put all the money back on the originating Gift Cards. Reordered it, cancelled again. So screw it, I went thru the hassle of getting enough gift cards to cover the extra $0.50 (annoying) and then replaced the order, and it did not get cancelled. Not sure if anyone has run into this, or if you have a small penny-amount go on a Target card, maybe your orders are more likely to get cancelled. My guess at this point is Red Card transactions get some human that looks over the order and clicks approve or reject for each one, or maybe an automated system that analyzes Red Card charges for anomalies. I thought it was strange that of 6 orders placed, the 2 that had a small amount actually on the Red Card kicked back.

Some people have mentioned that they need to have a small amount on the Redcard or else they don't get the extra 5%. I haven't had any issues like that, but interesting.

*SIGH* Got an e-mail to look out for my new redcard being mailed this week, probably with the chip. I hope I don't fall into the small group of people where the chip redcards don't play nice with online 5% GC

I was nervous too as I just got my new chip enabled card. Added it as my default and it worked fine. Good luck with yours!

@MrInfinity - I have lots of issues with my orders being cancelled. I haven't been able to generate a logic behind why sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. My leading theory is that a percentage of orders are hand-reviewed by humans that have different ideas about what is and isn't allowed, because that's the only reason I can come up with for such an arbitrary system for why some of my orders go through and some get rejected.

As a result, I have to plan way ahead in terms of converting my Target gift cards into some other form as half or more of my orders will be cancelled. As soon as I have an order cancelled, I don't bother trying to place another order that day.

My guess would be that it was the "too small" charge on your REDCard. Thieves often make small purchases on a card to make sure that it legitimate before they hit the CC for a huge purchase. So, what looks like a small purchase will get scrutinized and possibly rejected. Given the problems that Target had with identity theft a few years ago, I'm not surprised that your small purchase got kicked back.

Since I never actually pay with my red card, I never added my new one. My red card account was closed for months, but the 5% still worked with that card linked to my account.

Thanks for posting this. They just sent me a chip card, but I noticed that my old card has no expiration date (debit). So I guess I will just plan to leave the old one on there until/if it stops working.

If you never use it, how long before Target closes it due to inactivity?

another Raise ??? why do I keep getting email alerts for a specific % off gc, then when I look, it's lower than what they show? is this frequent?

By the time you get the email alert the gift card was probably purchased and will no longer show up on the site. I've had it happen to me several times.

How long does it usually take before a transaction becomes payable on TCB? I recently used them for the first time and am still unsure how it works. My transaction says its confirmed, but is not yet payable. Do you have to reach a certain amount before you can request a payout, or does it pay every X number of days like eBates?

I also received my last order of Target GC's from GCM. Now, do I turn those back into eBay right away so I'm ready for a promo, or keep them as Target for now?

On your dashboard scroll down and there's a list of your transactions. There should be an estimate on when it will be payable. My last one says 3 weeks.

For TCB, the payout time for each store is different. Some of them are so long that I get the impression that they hold the cash back for the entire return period to ensure it actually should be paid. I'm unsure of the minimum payout - it's not quarterly though, as Ebates is; TCB pays by request.

This has been discussed by others recently, but I always flip my Target GCs immediately into eBay so that I have them on hand and activated when an eBay Bucks bonus is live.

I used TCB twice last October when Ebates wasn't offering anything on GC purchases on eBay. I watched for a few weeks as $11.00 in cash back dwindled down for less than $3.00. At that point I opened an inquiry and was told it could take weeks to get resolved (and it did). I got one update saying they were still working on it, but I was ready to give up on them. Finally in December they responded that they honored the original cashback amount. As soon as the amount was available to request, I transferred it to PayPal and decided never to deal with them again. If I hadn't said anything, I'm sure they would have only paid out the lower amount. Fortunately, Ebates has consistently offered 1% cashback since then so I've been sticking with them.

Regarding flipping Target GC's. If my GC's arrive on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, I usually hold them until I check out the Target ad on Sunday, on the slim chance that they have eBay gift cards on sale. If I recall, eBay doesn't usually offer bonus eBay bucks on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday so I figure I'm safe to hold on to them for a day or so. If the Target GC's arrive early to mid-week, I usually flip them as soon as I can so they are ready to go.

However, each of us on this thread have learned something from one another. That's the purpose of these forums, whether it's how to score a coveted ADR or the best strategy for using FP+ or how to get the most for your $ at Disney. So, I'm a bit torn over whether to keep the information buried in the 10K+ responses on this thread.

I see the DIS as a collective community: You lurk, you learn, you experience, you share your experiences and lessons learned, and at some point along the way, you find a place where you ARE able to contribute and answer questions. And you may not contribute to every thread or sub-forum, but at some point you may find your niche where you CAN contribute. Honestly, though, I don't think I posted a question, much less answered a question for probably the first year! Why? Because so many others were so knowledgeable.

I will add that when I first started reading this thread, I did go back many, many pages to learn and get a feel for the system. I learned a lot more than "the system" too; people who don't take the time to read at least a month's worth of posts really sell themselves short, I think, because there are a lot of nuances to this. Plus, it's a great way to get to "know" the different posters and their personalities. I *totally* get the frustration with the "I don't have time to read all these pages..." requests (which, really, you don't have to read ALL the pages). So, it is easier to have a post with the info.

Also, I had *never* heard of this before, and I'm only just beginning, so it's hard to be a "contributor" right now. I am incredibly thankful for those of you who HAVE put the work (and risk) into this and most especially that you ARE willing to share. :flower3:

I just got a REDcard; it has the chip; the discount has worked for me.:thumbsup2

Yes, 1/20 (4x) and 2/1 (3x) I got offers as well.
You know I got several Ebucks offers before the holidays and really paid no attention to them until I found this thread. Started GC churning and have not gotten an offer since. Go figure lol!!!

Same here, except that I also reached my $5,000 limit so opened a new account and started getting them right away. I use a different email, bank acct and credit card for the new acct. I wonder if my old account will ever receive the offers again?

Well I never even came close to reaching $5000 so not sure what happened to mine.

I think there have only been two ebucks promo offers since the holidays and not every account gets them each time so you will probably get the next one if you were getting them before. I have an ebay account and my dh has an ebay account. We both get the ebay bucks offers but my account, which is the more heavily used, tends to get almost all the offers. Where as his account, only gets like every other offer, if that.
