Dis Old Fogies Clubhouse – Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other. Makes No Difference!

I'm afraid to hear what it's going to be. Also my check engine light came on so my car is in the shop too.:sad1:

I hear about the check engine light. Our van is older and thought we had the problem solved with a sensor and it still came back. Sometimes the check engine light is not that bad of thing.

I hope so since it looks like we're replacing our furnace and AC at home.

Good luck with the kitchen. I haven't given Thanksgiving much thought yet, I guess I better start.

Well we did a dry run on deep frying a turkey last Saturday with Naked Jim, Alberto and Justin as Guinea Pigs and it came out great. Alberto and I picked the crispy skin clean off the bird that we didn't put on the table! :rotfl2: So that's a go. The rest is pretty easy. My mom won't have green bean casserole so I made it that night and everyone gobbled it all up. We had fake potatoes and packaged gravy. I doubt my mom will go for fake potatoes so hopefully we'll make real ones. She always does sweet potatoes and makes fresh cranberry relish. We'll probably have boiled green beans and I have a turkey carcass in the freezer so Fran wants to use that to roast and make drippings for her pan gravy. When you fry a turkey you don't get any pan drippings for gravy! Dessert? No idea, but we can always buy a pie or something somewhere. Plus I have a ton of cake and brownie mixes in my pantry, not to mention some frozen desserts in the freezer. We won't starve!

The only problem is whether or not we have a fridge. STILL! Today and yesterday it got down to 33 degrees after being at 60+ for the last four or five days. Then I got home from Beauty and the Beast tonight and it was at 40 degrees and the cooling system wasn't making any noise as in "not running" anymore. Last week he "overcharged" the Freon and evidently burned out the cooler and I think that's what he did again. I'm thinking we need to look for another mini fridge on Craigslist. We had a new fridge in the garage at De Soto to go in #1 when it gets remodeled and we talked about bringing it over here, but that's a big PITA!

Decisions, decisions.

Ugh that sucks!

Ugh that sucks even more. We had to do that before we moved in. Hopefully you only have one furnace and AC right? We had to replace both of ours.

Oh Alison 40 degrees down there? That is cold. I always wanted to try a fried turkey , it does sound good.

How is the car Angela?

I'm so done with car repairs, it's another $600 today. I'm pretty sure the mechanic at the first place I took it too caused the damage when they did a maintenance procedure, but I have no way of proving it and they'll never admit it. Between the car and replacing the furnace and air conditioner at home I want to scream. :faint:

On the good news side, they'll put the new furnace and air conditioner in next Tues. so it will be done before the holiday.

What was wrong with the car? Know how you feel we had to put an engine in the one vehicle

Last month it went in for a dead battery and they wanted to clean the fuel system as a maintenance item, keep in mind it only has 45K miles on it. When I went to put gas into the car the pump kept clicking off like it was full every few seconds, so we took it back and they claim it was a coincidence the valve that regulates the pressure went bad, so they replaced it last Friday. Tuesday my check engine light comes on and now the canister/sensor the new valve went into is bad. Between last week and this week it will be $875 on something that was perfectly fine before anyone touched it.

I will give you a hint about the gas pump, The big black boot on the gas pump may have been vapor locked and the pump will shut off. Nothing to do with the car. If you go get gas and it happens again pull the black nozzle back and keep pumping. I dealt with that issue working with gas pumps. I would also be getting a second opinion on some things. Just so you know before putting money into things.

That sucks. I hate spending money like that. Did you check the BBB on this place? See if anyone else has had similar problems?

The issue wasn't related to the pump nozzles, we tried you method, different stations and even took the mechanic from the dealership to the station to let him try. It always worked fine before and I've had the Escape for a couple of years.

Wow!

The Old Fogies all need to take some Gingko Biloba.
Seems like we all forgot to check in the clubroom for a while.

Hope everyone is well.

 Happy Thanksgiving fogies! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. We have so much to be thankful for I'm not stressing over anything.

The turkey is in the refrigerator brining.

Still coughing so I get to do a week of prednisone. I'll really be munching over the holiday weekend.:rotfl2:

Received good news on my car, we're getting a reimbursement for our last service since the technician damaged the canister when the new valve was put in.:banana::banana:
