Long Island Disers!

This thread is so quiet. Hope everyone is enjoying the fall.

Where is everyones favorite fall place to go to? We usually go to Windy Acres. Not the greatest but I go there more for the food - the caramel apple pie is the best and of course the roasted corn, caramel apples and sometimes popcorn etc, Seems all my ds do is eat when we go there.

Tonight they went to the new Chick Fil A in PJS. They said the line was long. They actually went to the soft opening over the week end. They saw it poeted on social media. They got a free sand. then and coupons that they used today. They brought me back a salad. It was ok. I also had a choc. shake and that was good. They said it was crazy busy there.

Finally doing my Disney countdown, 12 days and counting!

We go apple picking upstate at Maskars Orchards- it is SO much nicer than anyplace to pick apples on long island! You drive right into the orchard, park your car and you can set up table and chairs and picnic out there all day long, eat apples and the kids run all over the orchards- its a great day!
I tried Chick-Fil-A this summer when we were on our road trip around the US and didn't see what the big deal was- I won't be waiting on any lines to eat there that's for sure!

I'm going to miss our local Waldbaum's. We could walk to it, so it was great when all you needed was bread or milk. My mom loved it, and my nephews always loved going there with her - they used to tease her it was a "religious experience". It was a great store, always well stocked and clean and the employees were so nice. It's not going to be the same. And of course, now there will be almost 4000 unemployed, that is really sad. And without severance after the unions helped them stay in business after the other bankruptcy in 2010. Sad all around.

None of the stores closing by me have bids so looks like more empty stores.

A lot of the waldbaum's that closed are still empty. I drive by the one in Farmingdale almost every week day. just a big bordered up building. It will be worse when more of them close.

I was talking to someone who's BF work at a pathmark, they think they will still have a job but their pay after being their for over 15 years will go back to minimum wage.

Well I looked at those lists and it seems that by me
1. The East Setauket Waldbaums got a bid. It always looks like hardly anyone is ever in this store
2. The Waldbaums in Selden has no bid.
3. The Pathmark in PJS is not even mentioned? I knew someone who was a pharmacy tech there, still dont know if they are there. I will have to ask her ex sil

On 347? It says it hasn't been auctioned yet.

Don't care for Waldbaums or Pathmark. Also felt that the Deli Counter at Farmingdale Waldbaums was doing you a favor by charging high cost for cold cuts that were never cut to order. If you complained they were like offended.

On a better note Chick-Fil-a is now opened on Long Island with two more coming to Hicksville and Commack. We are getting our Stew Leonard's and Whalburgers soon too.

Can't wait for Stew Leonards to open! We got a Smashburger by me recently, that is pretty good!

Our favorite places to go are Breirmere (sp?) Farms and Harbes Farms out East.

You would not believe the traffic on the PJ corridor (aka 347 112 to Old Town) There was a person taking order for the cars on the side of the road when I went to work around 3:30 Really backed up for that time of the day.

You will see that for a while before it wears off. The same thing pretty much happened when Popeye's opened up here in Patchogue. Once the "newness" wore off, it hasn't been as crowded and now back to a normal pace.

Same thing when Dairy Queen opened in Massapequa a few years back. Now there is no wait at all.

I'm so happy that there are other LIers here! I'm from Smithtown (originally from CA). I've been on the DISboards for a while but haven't posted for quite a while. But since I'm on maternity leave I'm taking advantage and catching up:)
