October 2015 PTR: a “Halloweenie” and her Fearless Companion conquer their first HHN!

Also popping in to wish you a wonderful trip!!! So close now. I am pea green with envy and looking so forward to living vicariously through your trip report. Have a blast Gina!! :sunny:

Hi - just found this thread a couple of days ago after seeing you over on the transportation board. Finally caught up and really enjoyed reading it! I hope y'all have a wonderful time! Our dates and times are pretty darn close - if our plane is delayed at all I may just see you in the Alamo aisle Saturday morning! We are hitting Universal Sat thru Monday morn/afternoon and the heading over to POR and wrap the trip at Disney. We are hitting MNSSHP Tuesday but alas no HHN nights planned - DW is like you say in your title , a halloweenie...maybe my son and I can sneak out...
Thanks for continuing to check the car rental rates... I really did just say to myself, hmmm let's check to see what Gina found out today re cars...Ha! I think I'm dropping my Budget one and opting for the June Alamo one and picking my own from the aisle. Anyway here's to a wonderful trip and thanks for all your tips. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a pirate couple at MNSSHP - I'll buy you a dole whip...no cheese in that, right?
--Bob.

Thank you, my friend!! :goodvibes I hope you will join me on my trip report after we get home.

While you might be green now, I'll be the envious one come January. I'll be shivering in my boots while you'll be soaking up the sun in early January!!! :beach:

Hi, I just wanted to drop by and wish you a wonderful trip. I have followed your TRs and really enjoyed the time and detail you put in. Your family seems like fun! Also, my sister is another one of those no cream cheese/sour cream people so you aren't totally alone.

Thank you Heather! :) I appreciate each and every reader! You guys have been such great company while I have been eagerly awaiting this trip.

I knew there were a few more of us 'unique' individuals out there with an aversion to cream cheese :thumbsup2 . We just need to feel comfortable enough to come out of the closest.....or shall I say, refrigerator? :rotfl:

Hi ya Bob! My Transportation Board friends are always welcome here :) .

Hey, its quite possible we may cross paths ::yes::.....our plans call for us to be at IOA on Sunday, the Studios on Monday, and then MNSSHP on Tuesday night. If you happen to see us lumbering around the parks (my Steve is a big guy and hard to miss  ) please, PLEASE make sure you stop us and say hi!!

I am glad you found my car rental OCD helpful. At least my mania comes in handy once in a while :rotfl2: . I can't say I've ever had a Dole Whip before (I know, the horror! :scared1:) but as long as its cheese-free, I'm totally in :teeth: .

Safe travels and best wishes for an awesome vacation to you and your family as well. Here's to some sunshine and fun for all of us Halloweenies!

Safe travels to Orlando.....your time is almost here too! :dogdance: Your journey there is much, much longer than ours, so I hope it goes smoothly for all :goodvibes . No delays and no turbulence!

It looks like Orlando is enjoying some hot and humid temps right now, so while your unusually warm autumn is making packing more of a challenge, its probably a good thing in the long run.....you will be able to adjust so much easier! We're dark, dreary and damp here, so we can't wait to bask in the glorious sun of the south (though we'll probably die of heat stroke the first day or two!!).

Is your DD getting excited for this year's adventure? Her friends must be super jealous! Are you doing MNSSHP again this year, and if so, what are your costumes?

Fingers crossed that we manage to cross paths at some point at Universal. I know its a long shot, but I will be keeping my eyes peeled for ya just in case.

Yes 9 hour flight is one of the disadvantages for us from England. We are flying out direct this year so not too bad.

Yes my DD is very excited but keeps correcting people that we are going to universal not Disney. We are doing MNSSHP 18th. DD had a witches dress and i'll just wear my mickey Halloween t shirt.

2 days for you..have a great time

A 9 hour flight....oy vey! That's a long one. I complain about our 2 hours and 20 minutes in the air :rotfl: .

lol....we have the same problem when people hear we're going to Orlando. The automatic response (from those well-intentioned folks that don't know us very well.....our friends definitely know better!!!) is "Oh, how nice! You're going to Disney!". Its amazing how many people exclusively think "Disney" when you mention a Florida trip. Sigh.

Both Steve and I seem to have colds brewing this morning.....sniffly noses, tickly throats, achy joints. Ugh!! I hope its just a short-term thing and doesn't develop into anything sinister. Neither one of us want to spend our vacation feeling crappy!!

I just did online check-in for our Alamo rental. It will be super nice to skip both the counter and the kiosk and go straight to the garage (the Alamo lines are always THE WORST).

My work days are C-R-A-W-L-I-N-G by these days. I've become an official Office Clock Watcher.

Hi Gina!

I'm not sure if I will be able to get on the boards in the next day or two, so I wanted to wish you a wonderful trip and safe travels as well. I hope you and Steve have a fantastic time in Orlando! :wizard: I can't wait to read your trip report when you get back!::yes::

Thank you toystoryduo!! :goodvibes

oooh it's getting close, and I hope it's a 24 hour bug or something not intending to be long or full blown. Hope you both feel better fast. DD hurt her hand last night while playing soccer. Need to go to specialty doctor. Oh, just one more issue I have to deal with before I leave. Ugh.

9 hour flights are not fun. Luckily, my flight is also about 2 and 1/2 hours too. Direct. Still hoping we have no rain and really nice weather. Making sure my shorts are washed, so I'm ready to be wearing them again. Since a week or so ago, pants are required. Cool autumn has set in.

th
HaHa. I'll be doing that Saturday night.

Oh, your poor DD. I truly hope its nothing serious. You don't need that worry on your mind when you're trying to relax!!

I am hoping that some extra rest and vitamin C will have us all fit as fiddles by Friday. Bottoms up on the OJ for the balance of the week :drinking1 .

Our packing is 99% done.....I finished it last night :thumbsup2 . All that's left is the can't-pack-it-until-the-last-minute stuff, like the passports and laptop. And of course, I have a list for those few final items so I don't forget when its crunch time :p .

I just got the most lovely and generous gift from one of my bosses.

He came into the office this morning, and handed me a small brown envelope. On it, he had written "Christmas came early this year".....and inside was $300 in US cash (which with the exchange rate would have cost him $400 Canadian).

When my mouth fell open, he says to me "I just want you to know how much you're appreciated around here. Go have an incredible trip."

I think he's in line for Employer of the Year ::yes:: .

Aww that was so nice. Just being able to get off is the best I get. Oh well. At least that will buy a few butter beers!

What a sweet boss! I've been MIA as we planned our trip ....sorry.....Just wanted to say that I hope everything goes perfectly. Shake those sniffles too, won't ya? Selfishly, I also hope the weather isn't as rainy as it seems right now since we'll be at Universal on the 13th in the middle of our Disney-ness. :)

Have a wonderful trip! The weather looks grand...i will be praying for no rain on your HHN and MNSSHP nights!!

There are 5 of us plus my seeing eye dog heading down this month. No plane ride for us...instead its a 24 hour drive. Luckily my DS has his drivers permit to help DH with the driving this year. We drive straight through without stopping. We are pretty used to this trip (going own since 2004) but we also drive 20ish hours to see my mom and dad in South texas every year. We love seeing the country and spending time as a family. Thank God for good kids!!!! We've been driving long distance since they were babies so they are used to it. My bum on the other hand is feeling its age!!!

Are they hiring at your office?

I also had an 'awesome' gift at work yesterday. It was the 10 year anniversary of the facility that I run my business in. They had a team anniversary lunch.....get ready for it....get ready for it......they gave us grilled cheese and a plastic wallet.

Oh yes.....lots of Butterbeer! I think I'd better pack my elastic waste pants :rolleyes1 :rotfl:.

its almost time! Hope to meet some of you Monday night!

I can't wait!! I hope none of you are camera shy. I am counting on getting some fun group pics for my trip report :) .

Thanks rhonda! I am thinking sunny thoughts right along with you :sunny: . Have a fabulous vacation!

A 24 hour drive....:faint: . That's a long haul. Glad to hear your DH will have the benefit of an extra driver :thumbsup2..... even a short break can be so helpful!

Weather for next week is still pretty questionable.....Accuweather still shows nice sunshine, but the Weather Network is not so favourable. Lots of time for it to change, though (for better or for worse!) so I am trying not to get too bummed out just yet.

What a great boss

He is pretty darn special. I will have to bring him back a nice souvenir.....but I have no idea what!! Hopefully I'll find some inspiration during our shopping trips.

They're only hiring if they opt to fire me first :rotfl2:. Or, if I happen to win the Florida Powerball this Saturday night (40 million!!). Dust off your resume just in case....I'm feelin' lucky ;) .

Grilled cheese and a plastic wallet? Well, that's just hard to beat!!! :rotfl: (but considering our chit chat in this thread over the last few days, a cheese sandwich for you does seem ironically, and amusingly, appropriate :teeth: )
