Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Hi. I've looked thru the whole thread this week trying to get ideas to decorate my mb for my upcoming trip in April. I'm trying to decide so I know what color band to get. Some things I couldn't find or I've missed is
1. the vinyl decals you can get from etsy, do they stay on well?
2. If I put nail polish on my band first will they stick?
3. And if I can put them on top of the nail polish do I need to put the top coat over the decal too?
4. Or do I put the top coat over the nail polished covered band and then add the decals

You should clean the band with alcohol first and then apply the decal. One of ours stayed really well, the other peelsd slightly. You can put clear polish over them, but we did not.

I have been using Plaid clear acrylic sealer in gloss. I got it at Walmart. It seems to be holding up really well and is much more flexible than the nail polish.

Hi HockeyMomNH!!! Love, love, love your artwork!!! :flower2::flower2::flower2:

To all the DIS artistics & MB decorators... question:

I have some Blizzard for fingernails. I tried a spot on the black part of DD6's band (that we took off so the band will fit her wrist)...by using some spanking new Nicole OPI quick dry top coat and sprinkled some of the Blizzard on it. It looks beautiful. But I'm wondering if I should use something else (the Plaid sealer, perhaps) to seal it in? I had thought about the top coat, but since you mentioned the nail polish isn't flexible.... now I'm even rethinking my "adhesive" surface to set the flakes on.

What do you think? I'm also planning to use scrapbook rub on lettering & appliques with a sealer over them (the Plaid sealer?).

These are all so cool! Thanks for sharing. Might have to take a crack at it myself. :yay:

Thank you! :-)

Did you try flexing the test piece that you did to see if it will crack? Especially on a band where you have taken off the outer edge, you are going to have to bend that band quite a bit to get it on. I would say use as thin a layer of the polish as you can. It seems like the thicker the polish the more cracking you are going to have.

I have never tried the scrapbook pieces so I can't help there. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some experience.

What she said.

I have tried top coat, base coat and acrylic sealers. Base coat is more flexible than top coat, but there still is a little cracking, especially near the holes. The acrylic from the craft store seemed to work pretty well, but I recently tried some acrylic Angelus leather paints and sealers, and they seem to be the most flexible of anything that I have used.

I don't have the answers to these questions but I plan on trying it out.

I ordered a decal from etsy. I am still waiting on it to arrive. If you are ordering for etsy order early. I ordered a month ago and I am still waiting for my order.

I plan to put nail polish on the band first. If you google using vinyl on nails you get a lot of people who use vinyl cut outs as part of their manicures.

I plan to put base coat on top of the vinyl because I want to add rhinestones as well. So my plan is base coat, nail polish, vinyl decal, rhinestones, base coat.

Hopefully my etsy order arrives today so I can start this process. New magic bands arrived yesterday. I will post back on how it goes.

I love all these ideas! I'm still narrowing down what I want to do for ours. Sorry if this has been asked, but are there any "don'ts" about painting over the Mickey head in the center? Or covering it with vinyl? I just want to make sure it will still work at the parks.
