Within 24 hours I left my job, my boyfriend, and life behind to go work for Walt Disney World!

This is an amazing story and you are a wonderful storyteller. What an adventure and something to treasure for the rest of your life. Best of luck to you!!

Just binge read everything in your report, I have truly enjoyed it all, from the hard start, to the amazing people, and mostly your attitude!!! The best time in life to take a huge adventure is when we are young, my favorite college professor said to take trips, risks, and see the world now so you will have wonderful memories when you are older. We will hopefully find you on our next trip in Nov. Thank you for sharing your story with all of us.

Your story is inspiring and reminds me of the story of Donald (Ducky) Williams he is the head of the art department at Disney look up his story. We met him on a DCL cruise a few years ago and he gave a talk in the theatre. He worked for years to get a job at D/W and gave up a banking job in Ct. to draw caricatures on main street eventually working his way to the top of his profession. Never stop chasing your dreams

Son got assigned to Pizza Planet and will start his training there tomorrow. He ended up at Patterson in a 3 bedroom. Looking forward to visiting him and meeting you. Hoping for an update soon!

That's awesome! Congrats to him... I lived in Patterson in a 3 bedroom! I LOVED it. People made fun of it for being a "quiet nursing home" environment, but that's what I loved about it! I could go to Vista Way to party, and then back in my quiet home. hahaha.

I'm hoping you'll be there snapping photos in December, especially at MVMCP! I plan to pm you prior to our arrival so we can seek you out! (So not a stalker! Lol)

Please feel free to PM me before hand I'll totally let you know my schedule! I'd love to meet you!

It was so nice to meet you yesterday Khalee.
You took awesome pictures of my family!
Thank you! :flower1:

THANK YOU so much for stopping by! I apologize again for how sweaty I was hahaha. You didn't catch me in my prime... the sun was still out! hhahaha. Much love <3

We will be there on 23rd my luck you will be back home:-(

I may be there! Keep an eye out!

Hey again everyone, and welcome to all the new people following along! Thank you for joining.
I have to tell you all, I don't have many crazy Florida adventures to report back on. I have been so broke, and working my butt off, but such is the Disney life! hahaha. I still have to make payments on my car loan for the car I don't have anymore, and now I started paying rent, and i do realize how that is NOTHING compared to the bills people have, but as a part time worker for Disney, it is still a struggle! I have 4 days off right now and I can't even go anywhere because I have to save the gas I have to get to work next week. I have been stressing out a lot about money, (welcome to adulthood, right?) and sometimes it makes me second guess everything I am doing.
However, the the other night I had a magical moment at work that was a perfect reminder of why I came here!!!
There are endless reasons why I love working photopass at MK. At first I was nervous about working at MK. I didn't want it to lose the magic. Let me tell you, it is even more magical. I get paid to watch the fireworks, and to hang out with Princesses! I still get emotional about it. Sometimes if you see me on Main Street USA while wishes is on, you will see tears in my eyes. But none of that is the best part of my job. The best part is getting to have these magical moment with guests. The other night I had a family come up to me and told me they wanted some pictures other than just them standing in front of the castle. I told them they came to the right person! After a fun photoshoot with them, they ended up coming back and asked for a photo with me so they could always remember me. This is what it's all about!! Making magic for our guests just like cast members did for me when I vacationed here! This seriously made my week!

The family asked me about my story and how I ended up there, I didn't even mention my car story or anything. I just told them how i started as a CP, and left a good paying career to come back down here. I shared how a lot of my friends and family didn't support or understand my choice to come back here. The mom looked me in the eyes and said, "I understand, you belong here!"
I only wish she knew how much that meant to me, and how good it felt! You guys help me so much on here as well, and I treasure each and every one of your responses! Thank you all again for the support.

Like I mentioned, I haven't been able to afford much other than going to work right now so I don't have many more adventures to share with you all. I did get shrunk down to fairy size AGAIN last week, and played tug of war over a crayon with Tinkerbell!!

I also got to hang out with the Queen Elsa recently! She told me she would try to keep it nice and cool in Magic Kingdom for when all of you come to visit!

Other than that - It's been the same old! Just another day - and I am happy to be here.

Once I can manage to save some money up, I REALLY want to get on a schedule were I can go volunteer at Give Kids the World Village. Like I mentioned in my first post, I have put together 2 fundraisers at my old job for GTKW, raising over $2,000! However, I have never been to the village! I can't wait to go see what it is like there and to finally lend a helping hand. It would be so cool to volunteer in the kid's salon they have there, but I would be happy doing anything of course!
Have any of you ever volunteered there? What is it like?! I'd love to hear!

Thanks again for following along and all the support... and for letting me vent! haha. Sending so much love and pixie dust your way!

Great update! We will be there in a week and hope to see you! When I worked at EPCOT we had a day when our team volunteered at GKTW - it's such a great place and I love that they have this kind of place for kids to stay at with their families!

Best of luck to you and I hope you continue to enjoy the magic! :)

So glad you updated. I'll be headed down there September 11 from Boston and I will be on the look out for you!!

Just discovered your report today and spent an enjoyable morning reading about your adventures..all I can say is...you rock and your resilience is amazing...it will carry you through anything that life throws at you. This is from a 58 year old who has had more ups and downs than a yo-yo.

You are exactly the kind of CM we need in the parks...I hope you work there for years to come...good luck getting the dream job.

Hope to see you in October, but it's not likely since we're only visiting Epcot for F & W.

Don't let being broke get you down...the best things in life are free :thumbsup2 :goodvibespixiedust:

Great update! Trying to finagle a post Thanksgiving trip! Wish me luck!
Love that you want to continue giving back to gktw. Keep working hard and appreciating what you have and things will hopefully ease up!

I am really enjoying reading about your journey! The guest you said "I understand, you belong here." hit it right on the head. I too think everyday that Disney World is where my future is and everyday I try to figure out how I will make it happen. So your story is an inspiration. And even though it may not be perfect, it is amazing just the same! Keep looking up!

We'll be down on the 11th, too. Coming from Pittsburgh. Our MK days are the 13th, the 15th and the 18th. Would love to see you!!!

I was listening to today's podcast and heard about your trip report and it sparked my attention. I have read your story and thank you for sharing it with us. You didn't have to and you probably got some haters (I don't read what others post to stay away from the drama). You are a brave young lady and congratulations for doing something that you wanted to do. You are young and I want you to enjoy yourself. Just keep being positive and good things will come your way!

Thanks for the update. You and Tink are super cute. Hope you can get some more hours or a part time job to help with your finances. Big hugs!

Great update and as hard as it is to be broke you are doing great and bringing so much magic into people's lives! You seem to have such a good head on your shoulders and I wish you all the luck in the world. I am also glad to hear that Disney did not lose it's magic. I have told my husband that I would love to work there one day but would be afraid that it wouldn't have the same magic/feeling. See you in October!

So glad you are enjoying yourself and that guests appreciate how magical ypu make their visits. Hopefully, Disney will recognize your contribution and make you full-time.

The courage you have to follow your dream is remarkable. There are not a lot of people that would leave the comfort of everything they know and hold dear to follow a passion. I only wish taht I would have found this thread before we went down to Disney in August. We jsut got back last week and I would have loved to meet you.

but as a part time worker for Disney, it is still a struggle! I have 4 days off right now and I can't even go anywhere because I have to save the gas I have to get to work next week. Honestly , OP, I feel for you
not to be able to do anything on your day off is terrible
If one day, you decide to go back home-do it! Don't be ashamed
I know a LOT of people who have tried working for Disney-and gave it up -it is hard without other income
unless you are retired with Social Security!
