Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I haven't used them recently, but I read an article that said that all the machines at WDW now take credit/debit cards and you can check a website to see if any machines are free before your walk to the laundry room. Here's the link: http://www.wdwmagic.com/resorts/wal...ed-out-at-walt-disney-world-resort-hotels.htm

This is great. Thanks for the link :)

It kind of makes me feel like I am there, knowing there are currently 6 of 8 washers and 10 of 12 dryers currently available. hahah.

If my only real room request is a king bed room, should I not do online check-in? I know there are a small number of king bed rooms, but I don't want to muddle my requests if that's the thing I'm shooting for the most. I noticed it's not even an option for requests when you do online check-in.

Would you all suggest doing regular check-in when I arrive if I really want a king bed room?

I would call to have the request added to the reservation especially since that appears to be the only request you have. This was they will know ahead of time instead of when you just arrive.

Just wanted to share ... in 22 days we will arrive for our quick 4 night stay at Pop - DD4 is so excited to see all of the larger than life figures around the property and to swim in the hippy dippy pool! Thanks for all of the info on this board as we haven't stay at Pop since 2007 so we had a lot of refreshing to do!

LOL! You're not the only one--I wish this was around when we stayed at Boardwalk Villas--they weren't close to our room and I could never seem to time it right to find one that was open.

I'm arriving in 13 days! One question, is there a nightlight of some sort in the rooms? I know some places have the hairdryer with the small nightlight built in.

There was no nightlight in my building 1 room (1304), as the wall-mounted hair dryer was removed in favor of a bagged hair dryer.

The Hairdryers at POP "did" have a small light in them,BUT recent reports are that POP now has "full-sized" Hairdryers.:)

Not all have been removed. I'm here bow in the 90s building and have a wall mounted one.

Also fyi, they're resurfacing the check in parking lot and part of the 80s/90s lot thru 8/7 I believe. A large chunk of both lots are closed.

As others have said, if the hairdryer is still on the wall, it does have a small night light in it. But I would still bring your own as that one may not be bright enough. Also, if you want to have a nightlight "glow" in the actual bathroom (since there are no outlets in there), buy a few of the good glow sticks in the camping section of Walmart or I've seen them in the check-out lines at Lowe's. They're about $1 each, but they last about 8 hours as opposed to the ones you buy at the Dollar Store that only last a few hours.

I've bought night lights from the dollar store for trips when my kids were little (also things like over the door organizers and pop up hampers - for a buck or two, I didn't care if it made it home).

If the room has the wall-mounted dryer, I would guess housekeeping would bring you a regular one if you call? Those wall mounted ones do nothing for me!

I'm requesting a room in the 50's section. No coffee in room correct? So the closest place to get coffee would be the main building?

That's why I'm torn about bringing my travel coffee maker! I know it's allowed, but not sure if I want to bother.
Odds are, I'll bring it. Need my coffee before I can function!

I bring a small water heater with me (size of a child's thermos). On cold trips I can have a hot coffee or breakfast cereal without leaving the room. I hate negotiating CS/food courts in the morning.

I have one of those too - so could make instant coffee. I also don't like to have to get dressed and head out before I've had my coffee and shower. After that I wouldn't mind getting us food but would probably bring it back to the room for DD.

Heading to Everything Pop! between 6am and 7:30am is one of my favorite things to do on vacation. In my experience, it's blissfully quiet that early and getting coffee is no issue.

When it gets busier later in the morning, there is an extra coffee station to the left of the ice cream counter that is outside of the main traffic flow, and (if the urns are filled) a nice way to get that second cup.

Definitely!Great time to sit in the Lobby and listen to the POP Soundtrack-POP has the best Soundtrack(both Resort and Bus) of any WDW resort IMHO.:)
