Sadly, FP+ showed us how little there really is to do at HS and Epcot especially. By closing things it gives us less choices with the super lame tiered options, making HS a half day park. For those without a hopper option HS may fall out of the equation until it has been reworked. I have several fall clients that have decided that HS is off the table for their vacation and even shortened their stay by a day or two since they see no need for a visit that park.
I have an upcoming vacation in january. I will definitely visit the park because star tours, ToT, TSMM, and RnRc are great attractions. With that said I will not be spending an entire day there. We are going to do those attractions and then leave for dinner at epcot.

True, but I would think they will probably do 2 shows a night most nights like Fantasmic! Especially since this is new and everyone will want to see it. There is usually only a couple of hours of darkness at parks not named Magic Kingdom so it could be hard to ride it if they shut it down for 25 minutes two separate times.
I haven't heard that they will be doing two shows but I have heard that they will likely shut down EE for the duration of the show.

Enough for what a third of a day?
GMR, ToT, RnRc, Startours, TSMM five rides
Indiana jones, disney junior (only for young kids), muppet vision, LMA(also rumored to close), Beauty and the beast, frozen sing along five shows unless you have young kids then six...

I do, and ToT scarred me to death when I rode it last so no interest in that. So if you have young kids under the 40 inch mark and don't want to wait for your partner to ride the headliners by themselves what does that leave? 3 Rides and handful of shows that are really showing their age. I just don't know how they can keep the park open if they are going to keep closing things before anything has even been started.

Doesn't rule out the fact it could return in some form elsewhere. It is unlikely tho.

I really hope they do move it somewhere else. I want to be able to take my kids there someday and show a little insight into the man who started it all.

This is exactly what we're doing. And if we get bored earlier than dinner time, we'll leave and hang at the resort pool for a bit. I'm not complaining though, I totally get why they're doing this and I'm very excited to see what the future of HS looks like.

Yea good point. Well on the upside, if the shows is running twice each night it must be pretty good.

Things have started tho even if you don't see it that way. TSMM third track and the new flex theater over by RnRc is the start of things to come.

There's so much empty space in Epcot they should have something about Walt there.

Plenty of room in EPCOT to move One Man's Dream there. Lets see, hmm maybe Innoventions, Oddessy, Wonders of Life Pavillion, Millennium Village, etc.

You really don't need the theater, just the exhibits is what most people want.

I know there was a rumor about a Blue Sky Cellar preview area in the Magic of Animation building but I wonder what else might they be adding. I never really thought that area would be touched but if OMD and the Little Mermaid show close you have 3 decent sized buildings to work with.

I wonder how the closing of attractions has affected Park Hopper sales.

Even with what has and will be closed-we always just do evenings at DHS (hop there). Typically after doing the morning at AK. Then it's usually TSM/TOT/ST/B&B/Fantasmic. Still, it does seem like it has to hurt sales though to some degree.

Don't forget the exhibits could also be used at Imagination. Look at what Walt's spark created! And they have that entire 2nd floor that is empty. But yes, there are many places in EPCOT they could relocate such a respected attraction.

I thought the second floor of Imagination was off limits to the public now over structural concerns.

I would think if anything it would INCREASE hopper passes, because you don't want to spend a whole day at DHS and you might not want to spend a whole day (or such a short day) at DAK.
That's true. I wonder what one day ticket sales for DHS look like...

You would think they would open some new stuff before closing more attractions.

Or at least make some announcements about new attractions before all these closures. Then maybe instead of all the negative publicity (this is closing, that is closing) they would get some positive publicity (this is coming, that is coming).

If the rumors of expansion are true - this all makes sense. One Man's Dream, Little Mermaid, and Art of Animation are all right next to eachother, along with the Jack Sparrow Pirate thing that closed last year. I've circled all of these in RED on the map below. Just to the North of this is actually where Rock and Roller Coaster is and that whole food court / outdoor restaurant area. Then you have TSMM sort of in the way, but behind to the side of that is the old remnants of the Back-lot tour. (Circled in Orange.)

Meanwhile, there hasn't really been anything said about the area around LMA/Streets of America/Muppetvision/Mama Melrose (Green), which could also go as part of a Star Wars land (they would want to incorporate Star Tours into this as well.. So it's really starting to look like a phased approach. There were some rumors that pathways coming down behind RnRC were going to be coming, and that some backstage areas would be turning into on-stage areas and vice-versa. Seems to me that whatever is going in on the West side of the park will be coming in first. That whole section of the park can be under construction while leaving everything else that is still open open.(Though the Disney Junior show might be closed as well, they definitely could leave that in place.)

I know it's easy to complain about them closing stuff, but think about it as "for the greater good". I think this is so exciting. It's been 17 years since we had a new theme park in Florida, and if the rumors are true (and certainly the closures have indicated they are probably true) we are going to essentially get a 60-70% NEW theme park, which will keep the best stuff (RnRC,ToT, GMR, TSMM, Fantasmic, Star Tours) and completely redo everything else. It could easily go from (IMO) the WORST of the 4 theme parks to possibly #1 or #2 - Again if the near $3 billion rumored spending is true.

It's an exciting time to be a Disney fan. Don't sweat One Man's Dream. Their not going to throw that stuff out.

I wonder how the closing of attractions has affected Park Hopper sales.

Dude - 98% of the populace going to Disney World won't even realize that anything has closed until they walk through the gate. It's easy to forget those of us that hang out on here are in the very small minority. The six parks at WDW got 55.5 million people through them last year. Even if you assume the average person spends 7 days there, that's almost 8 million unique visitors each year. How many people are "hooked in" to what Disney does. 100,000? 200,000? Even 200,000 is 2.5 % of the #s coming through the turnstiles. Closing attractions hasn't affected them in any large way. Those in the know are just spending more time elsewhere.
