DIS Unplugged Show Feedback and Suggestions

Kevin has responded to numerous emails I've sent him. I watch and listen to the podcast for both him, Kathy and JL they are my absouelte favorites even though the whole team rocks.

Kevin there are so many happy responses in this thread how we appreciate and love you guys - I hope those now and then off color comments don't upset you as your more than loved here!

1. BE EXCITED! I have noticed that sometimes certain members of the Podcast roundtables are not always visually excited or do not appear passionate about the topics being discussed,
Perhaps that's because they are all unique individuals with different likes and dislikes and they aren't all excited or passionate about everything that comes along. I think every team member has shown plenty of genuine excitement and passion when the topic being discussed was exciting to them.

We have tried.

There is no where else to put the microphone.

If I move it to the other side...it's in the shot for Teresa/Corey/JeniLynn.

If I move it further away...it's in John's shot.
Hmm. For many years, I was a theater lighting designer. One unwritten rule of theater lighting is that there will always be a dark spot on the stage. No matter how many lights you point from how many directions, there will always be a spot where shadows converge and darkness can't be eliminated. I've seen it at high school productions. I've seen it at Broadway shows. I guess the same is true with the camera angles in the studio. Any chance you could use a clip-on mic of some sort or even just a smaller table mic that doesn't block as much of your face?

3. You bring up a valid point about the meets, I was more so basing my statement on online interaction as I currently do not reside in Florida and have hence not had the opportunity to experience the in-person meets
I live in New Jersey. I've met every member of the team except Kevin, John, and Ryno (and I imagine I'll meet them on next year's podcast cruise if not before). I've been to meets in NJ, VA, and DE, and later this month will be attending the one in PA. They also have them in IN, MA, Nova Scotia, and some other places possibly that I'm not thinking of. As Kevin said, they interact here. They interact on Facebook and Twitter. And they fly all around the country and the world to attend the meets and do ABD trips with their followers, all while working full time running a business and providing us with endless hours of free information and entertainment. I'm good with that.

I'm not sure where you are from, but I really encourage you to attend one of the DIS Meets for GKTW. They are a great way to interact with not only the team, but also DISers in your area. Be sure to check the Power of 10 Events subforum here on the podcast board for more information. :)

I hope to hear the story of JL joining the team this week.

As one of the few smokers, I'd like Petes thoughts in comparison with some of the others.
I try to go out of my way to avoid offending people when I smoke, but on our January trip I found AK had only two designated areas and both were at the far side of the world. Not to mention every six months Disney seems to move them around to confuse me and force me to stare at a map.

I'd also like to see strategies on handling tour groups. I know this was touched on indirectly before on Disney etiquette, but I could spend hours listening to a rant about 38 14 year olds walking shoulder to shoulder down Main Street who yell when someone happens to be walking the other way.

Maybe its time to try one of those clip on mikes like they use during the podcasts recorded at the meets? That would also allow you to turn your head to look at others without having to make sure you're still talking into the mike.

I reside in Florida. I am fine with what the crew does for us. They do a podcast. I am however going to the party in December. Because A). a podcast B). Diagon Alley. They do something every year. If not there are plenty of Dis meets that can also be attended.

They do a podcast and come in my house every week via that. And I love it.

Actually, at the meets, they use headsets. I suspect Kevin doesn't want to be doing that at the table, especially if he's the only one.

It's my understanding that the headsets do not offer the same sound quality.

As this is not my area, I have no idea if this is the reason.

Tom thank you for taking my suggestion do you know how great and professional you sounded without talking over the music it made a world of difference thank you again and I appreciate you listening to feedback

It would be staged. Show T at the Welcone Center watching cat videos, or John in his secret genius lair, or Craig playing XBox

I would like to see a behind the scenes kind of thing like what it takes to put the podcast together each week. How long does it take to set up equipment? Do they have a team meeting discussing what they want to feature on the show? Are there stories that get cut? How is it decided who is going to be featured on the show each week.

I'm always fascinated on what goes into shows, guess I like to see how the magic works.

You know Klaus has his own twitter page. And I've looked at it. What can I say? I have a soft spot for Tuxedo Cats.:tilt: And Large Fluffy Kitties. :lovestruc:lovestruc

I love this idea.

I would like to see another segment with Kathy and Teresa. I know that they are both busy and Teresa has The trip. But I have missed that team. Loved the 101 series they did and go back and listen to them over and over again. Kathy did an excellent one on Legoland as well.

I don't need to see into the team's personal lives. Some things should just be private. Just keep doing what you are doing.

I have been listening to the podcast for a couple of years and always enjoy it. I listen to the podcasts on my long commute and they make the time go so much faster. They help me feel connected to my favorite place since I don't get down there very often, and they also help me feel like I'm not an oddball for loving Disney so much, since most of my friends and family "just don't get it." I enjoy the variety of personalities and perspectives on the team. I really loved hearing everyone's story of how they came to be part of the team. I love Pete's rants and John and Kevin's dining reviews. I appreciate that you're honest and straightforward when there is something you don't like or when you feel Disney isn't measuring up, and that you are just as honest in your praise when you like something and feel Disney got it right.

I can't think of anything about the podcast that I don't like!

I appreciate the reviews you do and would love to hear reviews of some of the tours that Disney offers in the parks. I'm sure you've done some and I don't remember or can't find them, but those would come in handy when I'm planning a trip and trying to decide if we should add a tour or not. Pete said that he was going to have Kathy review the new tour at Epcot -- I'm particularly looking forward to that because Epcot is my favorite park.

I would also love more "girls only" shows -- maybe a few times each year? I think the ladies on the team are all so great and it would be fun to watch them interact on a girls only show.

Thanks for putting in the time and effort to put out a great product!
