Fantasy January 23, 2016- STAR WARS

Welcome Kari0180! I'm excited to see so many Midwesterns planning on escaping the cold. My DH was a teacher (now sells heating and cooling units) so we always traveled during school breaks in the past. I hoping the weather will be decent during January, but even if it's on the cooler side it will still be better then Michigan in January.

Hello everyone-

Very excited to have found this group, this will be our 2nd Disney Cruise (first one was on the Wonder this past October), our second WC cruise (Castaway Cay will be new to us), very excited about Star Wars day, we have always wanted to attend Star Wars weekends, but have never been able to take the time off. Looking forward to getting to know everyone prior to our cruise!

Roll Call:
Me: Kari
DH: Bill
We are from Mound, MN (another group from the midwest!)
Let me be the next to welcome you aboard.

Welcome!!

This is my gazillionth (okay I'm exaggerating) cruise in January. There's a reason. Once we get far enough south, it's pretty wonderful. My last CC day wasn't super-warm and it was windy but it was still shorts and a t-shirt weather. Cool is relative!

That said, we have a family non-DCL cruise booked for next July. I'm not looking forward to that heat!

That's awesome! Thanks, Holly!! Will your tracking spreadsheet have the cabin numbers included too?? And thanks for the reminder re: the roll call! I nearly boo-booed!! :) Can you tell I'm getting excited?! I can't wait to start shopping/creating!!
I'm so excited I booked the DVC cruise for Aug 24th, but before that is SWW starting 5/15, then MNSSHP in September so I will have lots of stuff to keep me busy until January. I did it so late, a solo cruiser, I wound up with a Deluxe Family outside with veranda and got put on a waitlist. Got lucky and am now in an 11a stateroom (standard inside).

So with all these cruises and parties I'm working on 3 costumes: X-Wing pilot (Next week and Jan); Pirate August (if there is a pirate night) & January; and King Fergus (Merida's dad) for MNSSHP in September.

Sarah - total rookie here to Disney cruises and forums - hope it works to just put my roll call info here:

Mdcantu - Melissa and DH Lupe, DS Brennan (4), DD Quincy (3), and in-laws Joe and Sylvia

To add to all that there seems to be a Halloween cruise right after my MNSSHP trip. Talk about an addiction.

I will step up and take charge of the FE for our cruise. I've never done one before but I'm sure I can handle it. I do love my spreadsheets!

Fish Extender Group
If you want to participate in the FE please send me a PM with your cabin number, the names of everyone in your cabin, and the ages of the kids at the time of sailing.

I am going to keep a running list of everyone that has signed up for the FE here, however I will spilt the list up to groups of 15 cabins to keep it manageable for everyone. If you want to participate in more than 1 group please let me know and I will add you to as many groups as you want. I am going to set the cut off to sign up for the FE at November 30, 2015. This will allow everyone enough time to get their gifts together before the cruise.

It's been quite on here lately. How is everyone doing?

I bought I new carry on bag yesterday that I'm super excited about. It has lots of pockets and spinner wheels. I got it for our trip to DL in Sept, but I think it will be the perfect bag to carry on the cruise too!

My old bag came with a cheap luggage set I got for a wedding gift. The front pockets are ripped and the zipper is stuck so it only opens enough to stick my hand in. One of the wheels is just about to fall off too, so I think an upgrade was in order.

It IS quiet! Is everyone ramping up for the holiday weekend? My parents fly in, tonight, so I'll be picking them up from the airport at dinner time and they fly home on Monday.

As for luggage, my husband and I generally end up buying new luggage nearly every black Friday. We bought some higher priced hardside luggage a couple of years ago with spinner wheels and it's holding together pretty well. (The last one, the luggage was fine, but HE broke a wheel)

I'm starting to keep my eye on airfare. I just tried to convince him if we fly out a night earlier than planned, the tickets would be $40 cheaper. But let's ignore the cost of pet care, parking, and hotel... we'll save $40! He's not buying it. ;)

im waiting on Southwest, but its still too far out. Were staying at the MCO room. Currently Im prepping for my Storm Trooper armor to come in. :smooth:

I've been looking at all of the excursions and wondering what people think. Right now, I'm leaning toward staying on the boat during Cozumel to enjoy the pools and then going on an excursion at Grand Cayman. My oldest will be 4, so we're limited on what we can do, but there was a nature park that sounded fun. Anyone have thoughts on the excursions?

DS will be a month shy of 2 when we sail so we are limited on excursions as well. I was looking at doing one of the glass bottom boat tours so he could see the fish, but we took him to the aquarium last weekend and they only thing he cared about was the light up bubble wall at the entrance. I'm not sure he even looked at the fish lol. So now I'm thinking we will just walk around the port areas a little and enjoy an empty boat. DH and I have been to Grand Caymen and Cozumel several times on other cruises so we really don't feel the need to do much there.

The only problem, as it were, with Grand Cayman, is that it's a tender port, so you'll have to take a boat to shore to do an excursion. I think Cozumel is easier. But, to be honest, I don't find either spot to have that much to do - I'm just cruising to get out of winter and Star Wars Day at Sea! ;)

I must not be able to send PMs yet...I will work on it!!
Unfortunately, you have to have 10 posts in order to send PMs. I see you have 7 now so a few more posts and you will be all set. I can't send you a PM until you have 10 post either.

FE Update!

Attention all FE participants. The first group, which I names the Jedi Knights :yoda: see what I did there, for the FE is now full. I posted a .pdf file on my post on page 2 (quoted above) that has all the information you should need. If any of your info is incorrect please let me know ASAP so I can fix it.

I'm starting a list for the next group of 15 cabins so if by any chance you want to be on that list too just let me know.

Just a note about the list I posted. I have it set up so that there is a "gift" box next to each name. This does not mean you have to give to every person in the cabin. You can if you want or just a gift per cabin is great too. This is just how it made sense to me to organize the list.

FE Update

We have 3 spots left in the first FE group. Once that's full I'll post the list I've been keeping on my FE post on page 2 so everyone has all the information they need.

I will also start the second group once the first one is full, so if you want to do more then one group please let me know that too.
