Does anyone have an idea what the other construction is going to be other than the East pool. Tiki man has said they pulled permit for other stuff, I'm just wonder what? Believe me we are not changing our resort. this is my dream resort, and dream vacation. I'm not switching. I have seen posts about the grounds around the club level building .....any thing else?

I'm just dreaming about sitting down on my balcony in my room! And yes....it would be nice to know what other construction projects are going on. I'll check in with Tikiman and see if anything is updated on his site. Aloha!

Ya, would like to know as well. As badly as I want to stay there next year, (if we get to go) if there is much more construction going on then, I will stay elsewhere and just keep it on my next list I just can't bear to spend a large amount of money on a resort that is not going to be at least 90% up to par.

I can't find a really recent update on construction anywhere. We are staying in 15 days and would really like a room with a balcony and a pretty view. We have a standard booked and I have no idea what request to make. A construction view would be disappointing. Any recent visitors or advice? Anyone...

Did Disney really ask Tikiman to post less? Odd I would think his posts would be a good thing.

I'm just catching up on this thread and several pages ago someone wanted to know about the air conditioning in the Vacation Club Studio rooms. We were there the first week in May. Let me start by saying the rooms are fantastic. Some of the tiki torches were lit at night but not all of them. It is true in our experience that the air conditioning can't be set below 68 degrees (we were in the Moorea building). I called and asked about it and they sent maintenance to our room. He said the new rooms thermostats are locked to not go below 68 degrees. I asked if there was a way to over ride it (like they are able to do at the other Vacation Club resorts we've stayed at) and he said there were no over rides possible on these new thermostats. (I don't know if he was told to say this or not, but either way we were stuck having the air set at 68 the entire trip). We all would wake up sweating like crazy at night. It for sure wasn't 68 degrees in the room, more like in the mid 70's. I did mention it to a cast member at the front desk and also on the survey they send, so hopefully if they get enough suggestions to make the minimum temperature lower they will do so. Until then I don't think I'll be able to return to the studio villa rooms, but stay in a regular room where you can adjust the temperature better. It's just not worth it to our family to spend all that money and not be able to be comfortable in our room. My husband said "My god if it's this hot in the room in May what the heck is it like in the summer?" I think if you like a warmer room you would be fine, but we like to be on the cooler side and it was quite uncomfortable for us. Add to it if two people showered around the same time (there are 2 separate showers in separate areas) and when they open the doors to the bathrooms the steam comes out into the room the added humidity makes it worse. Other than the temperature issue we had a fantastic time, and really like the set up of the studio rooms. I hope this helps.

Hi everyone

Booked the poly for this fall! I'm excited as my husband and I have never been to disney.

I know there is construction going on but we both wanted to stay at the poly. Hope it doesn't ruin things.

Since I'm new to the poly, just wondering if anyone had any room request suggestions? We're booked for standard view. Are these rooms far from the main area?

Also, is the thermostat controllable in these regular rooms, both adjustable up or down? I like it hot, husband likes it cold, we need an adjustable thermostat lol

If my memory doesn't fail, here are where all the gates are:
1) By Captain Cooks (down a few steps)
2) By Samoa, in between CC entrance gate and hot tub gate)
3) By Hot Tub
4) By beach, hot tub side
5) By the pool bar
6) By the kids splash area, near Trader Sam's / Marina

I found it very convenient on both sides.

Thanks for that info, good to know there are plenty of entrances!

They could have made it a Hawaiian looking fence...fake lava rocks around the perimeter and then a bar style gate. Or a ring of tikis. It didn't have to look like a giant baby gate.

LOLLLL that's great! Although, a giant baby gate (which it does look like) would even be Nicer. It is HIDEOUS looking. So disappointed in the 'designers' here.

Aloha and we have arrived at the Poly! We left home at 9:40 this morning (only 10 minutes late) and made good time driving here. On the way up, I spoke to the front desk and ended up getting my second choice of room (Bungalow). Not bad as every one of the 20 Bungalows are occupied and we wanted one of three. I will post more on this later. For now, the resort is beautiful and the Lobby is nice. I loved the old lobby but the new lobby is nice too. They were filming a commercial in the lobby when we arrived so that was kinda cool. The Bungalow is incredible, more than I imagined. More tomorrow.

Stayed at Moorea for 2 nights in a lake view studio and fell in love. The resort is amazing. The pool is perfect. The kids splash area was great! Construction- sure we saw some but it didn't ruin our trip. We couldn't turn the air down either and woke up a bit warm but- it didn't ruin the trip. I would absolutely recommend the poly to friends and family even with the growing pains. It's amazing. image.jpg

That photo is an excellent example of the too bright white lights on the bungalow docks. Look at photos of the boat dock--soft yellow lights. They really screwed up with those high wattage white lights on the bungalow docks. Obviously the soft yellow is safe, these are ridiculous overkill and do ruin the view of the castle and fireworks.

Love the bungalows, they don't ruin the view at all, but those overkill white lights do.

Last update to his page was 2/27... Disney must have really brought the hammer down.

Yes they did. He either got a cease and decease letter or a threat of being banned by the resort. (This is only my opinion) The opening of the DVC was a nightmare for Disney. Mainly just because they were trying so hard to have their cake and eat it too. Karma really came into play with this I believe.

Still can't wait though until I get to stay there for the first time.

We'll be staying in a standard view in July !!!! So excited to go back to the Poly. I'm going to read through this thread and see what sort of room requests we should make. When you do online check in, which requests are options? We definitely want first or third floor.
Thanks :) :)

I think you can only choose 2. Patio or balcony is on the list along with the longhouses. I am just going to put down either Samoa and Figi, or Figi and Aotearoa if we get to go early next year and there is still construction around the east pool area.

Thank you so much! I was looking at Samoa and thinking we'd love the Lava Pool view, but wouldn't want to risk getting the other side and having the construction view!

Also, I'm 5'9" and my husband is 6'5", so we'd love a King room. Are there only certain locations or longhouses that have Kings? Is that a request that can be made during online check in, or would I need to call? Thanks!

Not sure. Those pool view rooms in Samoa are hard to come by, I'm sure. From what I have read, the whole longhouse of Samoa might be hard to come by. Go to touring plans.com and look at the resort room views. Its a great asset to look at.

Edited to add that I am shocked that Disney has not charged a premium for those pool view/area rooms in Samoa.

Are non dvc guests permitted in that area to view the outside of the bungalows or is access restricted? I know I can't go in one, but would love to take a walk by for a close up look.
