Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

I haven't seen the movie since childhood... maybe I should watch it again so I can get excited about the theme! :tiptoe:
I haven't seen that one in years either!

I think there's a good chance that people are right that the 5K or kids races will be 7 Dwarfs-themed somehow...assuming that there is a Snow White vibe going on that weekend and not a villains one. Personally, I wouldn't care if they used Dopey for one of them. They have re-used characters for multiple races before (i.e. the marathon medal is Mickey, and the medallion for the kids Mickey Mile is also - you guess it - Mickey...and the WDW Half Marathon medal is Donald, and they have had a kids race medallion featuring Donald in the past for Wine & Dine weekend), and it's not like anyone is going to confuse the Disneyland 5K Dopey medallion for a Dopey Challenge medal. And if they do, well, who cares? Just my 2 cents. :)

Having said that...I'm still REALLY hoping for a villains or Fantasmic! theme. But the more I think about it, the more I feel like the Snow White theme makes the most sense. :confused3

A F! theme would be cool. Pretty sure we're either looking at Snow White or villains though.

I'm starting to regret not doing the 10k (although I'm sure that regret will be short lived when I get to sleep in that morning lol!) - a magic mirror medal would be awesome! I hope they have a good one for the 5k. I'm still not sold on the rubber medallion, but if it's a good one I'll still be happy. I like the dwarves marching over the log idea :goodvibes But then, I'll have my beautiful D medal for the half, which will be my pride and joy for at least the next year :rotfl:

YES! I hope the half medal is still the script D. It's so classic.

I read a post on Facebook last night from someone who is volunteering at the Tink expo - they said the 2014 medals are still out at the runDisney booth. It was a long shot, but I was hoping we'd get to see the 2015 medals today! Oh well.

I think it's going to look pretty much look like the symbol that was attached to the half-marathon training guide. I would be totally fine with the medal design....

Me too, but I'm expecting/hoping that they'll *plus it* in some way with it being an anniversary year. :)

Yeah, normally I'm not super into bling-y/glittery stuff...but it's the diamond anniversary. There's gotta be some diamonds or something sparkly somewhere!

I don't think they will change the medal all that much either. I would expect 10 on it for the 10th anniversary, but nothing more. I just have this feeling that disney will distinguish between the 10th anniversary of the half marathon and the 60th anniversary of disneyland. In other words, the half medal will not acknowledge anything about the 60th anniversary of disneyland but only the 10th anniversary of the half marathon. otherwise the training logo for the half would also have 60th anniversary somewhere on there. Instead, the logo only acknowledges the 10th anniversary of the half. So I don't think diamonds will be a theme of the medal.

QUESTION FOR ANYONE WHO HAS RUN A DISNEYLAND RACE

I am seeing posts on Facebook about people getting wristbands to enter the official merchandise area - what is this noise? Can someone explain how this works? They don't do that at WDW. :confused3

And yes, I had to bold that. If you've followed any of my posts, you know the merch is VERY important to me, :teeth:

It started w/ the DDD fiasco of '13 when it was hot and people were waiting for hours in line for the merch.

I didn't run DL last year w/ the changes, but at Tink last year and this year and SW in Jan, they had you line up and they were letting people in the merch area in groups. Pre-expo opening, they had people line up but in another room and were walking the groups up to line merch and that area. I didn't get a wrist band last year for Tink; you just stood in line and then went in. In '13, everyone got in and pretty much bumrushed into the merch area and were just grabbing things and CMs were walking stuff out and they were grabbing that too. Once and if you got something, the line to buy was a few hours wait. Imagine Walmart at 6pm on Thanksgiving. Now they let groups in every 5-10 minutes in a more controlled manner.

If you are set on merch and know there's stuff you really want, go there 1st before bib pickup which in underneath in a parking garage. I know people were lined up this morning at 6am and the expo was opening at 10, but I think it was a little earlier than that.
