Waiting for Rest of Fall 2015 Room Only Discount

What's frustrating for the leisure traveler is those convention discounts are pretty sweet, too. I had a colleague stay at the Grand Floridian for under $200/night on a convention rate a couple of years ago. Granted, Disney was offering bigger public discounts back then, too, but he went to this convention right before our first trip (so it must have been in 2011) and I was super jealous at how little he paid for his room.

I attended a conference a few years ago that was held at GF. The Convention room rate for a GF standard room was $199 a night (rack rate for the same room at the time was >$500 if I recall correctly) and was valid for some # of nights before and after as well as during the convention itself. Although work paid for the convention dates, I extended my trip at my own expense and paid for the extra nights of our stay -- I figured it would probably be the only time I could afford to stay at GF :-) Also, there are special convention pricing MYW tickets available. I flew my sister down with me and she spent her time at the parks while I spent 8am-8pm+ in the conference. On the days when I would get out a bit earlier I would meet up with her and we would spend the evening together at a park.

As for Fall 2015, today I called Disney to add a room request to our Dec 2015 reservation. I also asked if there were any discounts available for our dates: nada. Still hoping a "rest of fall 2015" room only discount will come in this summer.

Heres hoping something, anything comes out to help those of us who need to come down after October 3. Any type of discount would help. I wonder if there are people banking on the discounts who will cancel if the discounts don't become available.

I'm sure there are. I could have got FD but for us the way we vacation and such, it was gonna be too stressful for me to have an ADR every day to use up the TS credits and then I find myself picking food to make it a good value/deal instead of what I really rather eat. AND the resort choices were not fitting the plan of what we are going back to do. So I really hope the RO comes out for the end of October but it probably won't be a budget deal breaker as I wasn't planning on using my Disney Rewards points this vacation and if I have to, I can just use those.
(Trying to save rewards points to afford a monorail resort vacation in a couple years)

Come on Pixie dust! I wish the UOC I got this summer would cover this vacation. Seems I only get them when I don't need them. sigh.

Finally screwed up my courage this morning (I hate making phone calls!) and called to see if maybe I had a pin code attached to my name, but no such luck. :(

The cast member was very sweet, though, and just suggested that I keep watching my snail mail and email. They had several of my old addresses on-file, and she cleaned that up for me, too, so I guess it wasn't a totally wasted call. Lol.

I'm not usually all that shy about calling someone, but calling to ask for someone to be nice to me and give me something.... so out of my comfort zone so I know what you mean. And then after reading so many others had codes and hearing "No you don't" and watch your.......
Made me more sad than just waiting for RO to come out and work for me.

These pin codes are crazy. I have gotten at least 3 this year but none for my dates. It's torture because we really can't change our schedules because we are limited by work and school. Oh well..... Booked our main part of the trip through DVC. Just waiting on a RO for BC for just one night. I hope I can at least get a passholder discount.

Curious if there's ever the kind of heads-up or leak for the room only discount the way there tends to be for Free Dining. We all knew here FD was coming out a few days before it did (and the rumors were right); is there ever that kind of reliable heads up for room discounts? Because I know those rooms also tend to go fast, it would be great to get that head start!

Yes I'm curious too. I'm new to the disboards.for those of you that aren't, do you normally get a heads up with the RO late fall discount?

OK so now I'm feeling greedy......my new hope in addition to a RO discount for Halloween week is........
Since I'm not going to extra ticket event on Saturday or Sunday......it would be nice if Disney opened up some Extra Magic hours on Friday night for those of us that want to see the fireworks and parade that weekend. Just sayin'
But I'll settle for RO discount to stay at my resort of choice now that I haven't tried to get FD so others could have it.

So in the mail today was an envelope with Disney Destinations as a return address. For a split second I was excited and hopeful that it was a pin code for RO discount and then I realized that it was the booklet that Disney sends when you make a reservation. bummer.
My vacation isn't until the end of October so I really didn't need this now.

It just seems anytime I get a pin code/Unique offer it's already come out on here and I'm all set. pout.
Now that offers came out for FD and I'm waiting for RO......nothing.
I know I shouldn't get discouraged but I just keep being hopeful and then not hopeful. LOL

Let it go.....Let it go.....not that I will have to cancel....flights are booked so I'm going.

Pixie dust to you all.

I totally know how you feel. I was so hoping for free dining so we could afford to upgrade to deluxe. Wasn't able to get. Sold out to fast. Now hoping for To discount and praying there aren't huge restrictions on them. I really hope we are able to get a discount. Would be so helpful

Anybody else notice that November 1 is Daylight savings??? I'll be at Disney that weekend!! I get an extra hour at Disney!!! yipppe. What a bargain.
LOL trying to find little bits of Pixie Dust. Even if the extra hour is at the resort, I'm still not here.

I have a room only reservation for WL Nov. 28 - Dec. 5. If a 30% RO discount is released for part of my reservation period, how do I handle that? Do I have to break it into 2 different reservations or can the discount be applied to only the days it covers? I haven't been in that situation before. My dates are set so I'm not going to change them to fit into a discount period.
Thanks!

I'm going to guess that they will just apply to the specific days they can but put a word of caution in getting answers on the board and thinking they are in stone. Disney has been changing some things around (Like being able to drop or add days to current reservations without rebooking) and so I"m under the impression that they are revamping and things could change. So i guess you'll know in the end when you actually call and do it.
That is actually my attitude at this point cause Nothing is guaranteed.

My wife and I have reservations at BC for 10/25 - 10/28. Hoping there is a RO discount for BC, YC, or BWI. First time going without the children, and we are PUMPED! If we don't get the discount... well... That's what 401k loans are for. :-)

Yes be pumped!!! We are addicted to an Anniversary trip each year now that our kids are grown.

I'm having a pumped day today. I got a snail mail Unique offer code today and saved 20% off my POR room at the end of October. We went back and forth about FD but really wanted POR this trip, so RO was what we hoped for. I was impatiently waiting for July to come and see GP discount but now I don't have to wait and can plan other things cause this is really happening.

Wish I knew the rhyme or reason for UOC but I don't and I wish you all the same pixie dust.

I'm hoping for a room only discount. I just booked the Universal portion of my stay for December and now am looking toward Disney for the other 2 nights.
I really want to stay deluxe at one of the resorts I've never stayed at before. I was disappointed that the new Orbitz discount code wasn't good for Disney Resorts.

Any new whispers about the December discounts? I know we won't really hear anything official until June or July, but the anticipation is half the fun. :)
