To my knowledge onboard they offer like a welcome party but that is extra and is determined 45-30 days where it will be held! The only other things I can think that are rare to be approved is I got my approval today to hold my ceremony in the atrium which is not common but that took ALOT of bugging on my end and then my reception in the D lounge I really wanted the feel of an "actual wedding" with a wedding and reception location the best way to customize is to buy or DIY I made an aisle runner, I'm getting chair bows, making programs and lots of favors! I hope that helps!

Happy Planning

I had no idea there were weddings held in the atrium!
That's amazing! It's so beautiful! If only my DF didn't have his heart set on Castaway Cay haha!
But I love the idea of having the cake and Champagne in the D lounge!
Is that location something that can be done easily or is that another rarity?
Thank you so much for your help! You're too sweet!

Yeah they very rarely do and its almost alaways on a sea day when they do them but so worth it to me my theme was beauty and the beast so it goes perfectly! and Castaway is really beautiful I wanted that but my hair would be a mess lol :headache: and the D lounge is really nice if you look at Jillian and Michaels PJ her reception was in there and I got a lot of ideas of what it will look like from there and I think that can be more common especially if you have over 30+ people going just ask and keep asking lol until she says yes wear them down! it can happen and your welcome any advice I can pass on I will these boards were a total lifesaver for my wedding I would have had no idea what to except without them :goodvibes

Congratulations and welcome. We just stepped off the Disney Dream after our wedding Sunday and had the best time. Happy planning!

Hi!!

Where you married 4/12/2015? On Castaway? We where married on the Disney Dream 4/11/2015 on board ☺️

Hi Alexandra! Yes we were married on Castaway Cay on 4/12. I heard you were just gorgeous but didn't see you because we were off scuba diving. Still working on my trip report. Let me know if you did one- I'd love to see your pictures!

Fun tip: have someone with an iPhone do a panoramic shot of your ceremony.

Hi everyone!
I was curious how everyone had or is wording their invitations?
Especially with having so little confirmation about time and location until 45 days before the sailing.

On mine I put down Castaway Cay, Bahamas for the location of the ceremony and right below that it states
"Cake and Champagne Toast to Follow"
But I have no idea what to do for the time section on our invitations.
I don't think putting "ceremony time TBA" is appropriate.:sad2:
Our designer suggested "Ceremony time to come".

What do you all think?
:love::love:

For our invitations we just put the sailing date and that a more formal card would follow its really hard to put down dates but must castaway weddings that I have seen are early morning so you may want to just put a general morning time and then send out a newsletter once the time is confirmed that is what I did and that seemed to work for us! Hope that helps! :goodvibes

We just put the cruise sailing date as well. I think our invites were worded something like "Kate and Chad invite you to join them for their destination wedding aboard the Disney Wonder sailing to Alaska, June 22-29 2015."

As everyone participating has to go on the cruise anyway the exact timing shouldn't matter too much on the invite.

Thank you so much Ladies!
These little details are so stressful for me for some reason.
But you helped me a lot!!

Hello ladies! I've been so excited as I read your beautiful stories but I still have so many questions! Lol. I'm sure they're answered somewhere but the post has gotten so long that I've decided to ask directly instead! My boyfriend proposed to me on the first night of our Disney Fantasy cruise. It was magical and we're so happy!

We thought it would be very "us" to have a Disney Cruise wedding and was wondering how well it has worked out in the past. I have the following concerns but I am hoping you all will give us some peace of mind. :-)

1. How do you get about asking your family and friends to book a cruise in order to come to your wedding? I wasn't sure if we were asking for much by doing that because rates are a little costly. :worried: As a add-on to this question, does disney or any travel agent offer group rates? We're Florida residents so we normally book through that rate to begin with but those rates don't come up until AT MOST three months before the sail date.:(

2. How far in advance should we be working with Disney to make it happen? Currently we're thinking of having the wedding in August 2016.

3. How does having a wedding on the ship compare to Castaway Cay? My DF will like it to be on the island because he's nervous about it being too windy on deck but I was reading that we might be able to have the ceremony in the atrium?

4. Will I be able to get our group to sit with us or near us in the main dining room? It would seem kind of silly if we were all separate.

5. Will we be able to "upgrade" our dinner from Palo to Remy provided we pay for the additional cost? He proposed right after our Remy dinner so it just seems appropriate.

So many questions! I'm so sorry! Please help! :upsidedow

HI EVERYONE!!!

I'm so excited to post this, since I've been lurking around here for years and enjoying everyone's chats and journals. Me and DF finally decided to have a Disney Cruise wedding on the Dream Dec. 7-11, and booked it!!!! Now comes the miscellaneous planning, like how to bring the dress over to Florida, how to deal with the honeymoon (Disney World... obviously...:earsboy::earsgirl:), etc. I'm hoping I can start a planning journal on here, too. Shout out to the past, present and future DCL brides!!!

Let's get this PARTY STARTED!!!!! :mickeyjum:mickeyjum:mickeyjum:mickeyjum

Congrats, StephWall!! So excited to see a future DCL bride! I don't think I can answer many of your questions, sorry, but from my recent experience with talking with my wedding planner, they should be able to sit your party in tables close to each other in the dining room. I think your party has to come in all at once. I also think it depends on the number of people in your party. Not sure about upgrading to Remy, but wouldn't hurt to ask! Is Remy fancier than Palo? My planner booked us for the ship, since there's already one booked for the Castaway Cay wedding (they only book one Castaway Cay wedding, and the rest are on the boat). I want to get married on the deck instead of the small indoor room she recommended - I'm planning on plastering my hair to my head to prevent wind whiplash :rotfl:. Where you have your wedding also ties into how early you book. It's first-come-first-served in terms of the Castaway Cay wedding. Whoever books first gets it. That being said, I'd call as soon as you guys can, even if you think it's too early. The worse they can say is "Call back later". I booked the December wedding in March of this year and someone still booked before me and got Castaway Cay!

Good luck with your planning and Congrats!!!:hyper:

Welcome to the boards and being a DCL bride!! So I will try to answer your questions as best as possible my wedding is next week so I may have more information when I get back but a big tip I can give is read this whole thread and other DCL brides PJ's you will get SO MUCH information I wouldn't have been able to plan the way I did without all their help and tips its really invaluable :worship: Also I love that you got engaged on the Fantasy we were engaged on the Magic but our getting married on the Fantasy and that ship holds a special place in my heart

1. So asking friends and family we did it way in advance two years out and then sent invites out once we had dates within a week or so to make sure everyone got the best rates, you will get some people who don't like the idea, we definitely did but at the end of the day its about me and my DF being happy so go with what makes you two happy! there are no group rates any more :confused3 I would book though a travel agent that way everyone is linked and usually will get an onboard credit and you can link all the reservations which is really nice so once you have dates I would tell everyone, we have 30 people going but we are a 7 day cruise so the prices are really high and people are coming from Cali I know other brides who did shorter cruises 3-5 got a better turn out but I wanted more time with my guest so it really is all preference let us know what you choose to do!

2. Once you book your cruise call Disney right away my cruise had three brides the first day sailings were released! :faint: Summer months are really popular so I would book and call Disney right after to make sure you get either Castaway or onboard!

3. Personally I prefer onboard two main reasons for me was timing and weather and I like that its more private we are lucky enough to have an atrium wedding :jumping1: now this was by no means normal or easy I bugged my coordinator...A lot... I mean poor thing was tired of me but I really wanted the atrium you can't get married at sea with that venue so you lose a port day but it was so worth it to me plus the atrium is such a grand place and I have a more wedding feel with a separate ceremony and reception location also with Castaway you are right by the family beach and they are morning weddings so if you don't mind that but I would really weigh all your options are photographer is doing bridal pictures on Castaway so we get the best of both worlds

4. This was another tough thing for me I was very adamant about table 82 in royal palace but they let me know with that table your guest aren't that close so if you want to be close don't pick a specific table, you will still get to group guest at tables though. I was sent a spreadsheet 15 days out with my table count and then I placed who I wanted where.

5. and no go on the upgrade I asked many many times and all three of my coordinators said no :sad2: you can forgo the free dinner and upgrade or stick with Palo its all preference choice!

I hope that helped let me know if you have other questions and check out my PJ its in my signature I go over a lot of that stuff there invitations, photographers etc

Happy Planning

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to have found this post as well! I am getting married on the Disney Dream 10/30/15 sailing! I feel like I'm already behind on planning :sad2: We have sent out our save the dates, most of our immediate family has booked and some of our close friends!

My fiance proposed at the beginning of March - on our 6 year anniversary! And I knew I wanted to get married this upcoming Halloween (it's my 31st birthday on the 31st, so it just seemed appropriate) My immediate family and I are HUGE Disney fans and when my dad mentioned the idea of a Disney Cruise Wedding, we knew it was perfect!

We are going to be on the Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean cruise that leaves next Saturday the 23rd (we had already planned this trip) which worked out great for some extra planning. Even though it is a different ship, we can still get some additional information while we are there... I hope!

I'm sure I will have more questions as we get closer and all of your ideas are so great. Thank you all for sharing!
