Crazy, but April 2016?? When's your break?

We just got our school calendar for 2015/2016 and our April break is very late this year. Easter is at the end of March in 2016, but NY state is doing testing (so.much.testing.) most of April. Am I crazy to think that this might be a good time to go? Or will all of New York state be in Florida?!?! Anyone else know their 2016 Spring break week yet? In the past we've gone in September, but I'd like to coordinate a vacation during an actual break so our kids don't have to miss school.

April 25-29 Long Island and I have a room booked already for that week. We were debating between Feb. break and April. Husband think April will be less crowded, I don't think so because it's Passover and a lot of the major cites will have off that week. So we will see.

Our school doesn't publish until just before the end of the year (we are in NY state near Buffalo). I know some districts here are still doing around Easter.

I can tell you right now it will be a GREAT week to go. (Except for getting flights from your local airport.) The last time Easter was in March (2010) we ended up doing a weekend getaway during our late April break. (WE had season passes that year.) The crowds were more like fall crowds than Easter crowds. It definitely will be uncrowded, because southern schools will NOT be off. Crowds at WDW are worst when southern schools are off, because Disney is MUCH more affordable to a broader financial range of families when they don't have to purchase airline tickets. That's why we are going the week before labor day this year. It not exactly empty, but it certainly is less crowded than going two weeks earlier.

However based on close by schools, looks like it will be last week in march and no time off in April.

Mobile County, Alabama (biggest school district in the state) April 11-15, 2016. Already planning our trip. Just waiting for our 11month window to open!

Most Massachusetts public grade schools have the week off that contains the 3rd Monday of April (it's Patriots Day - a Massachusetts holiday commemorating the battles of Lexington and Concord).

So we always know that vacation week, even before the school does their official calendar.
