See what a little Wishin' can do? A very ENGAGING January 2015 trip! *COMPLETED 10/9*

Love the trip report so far! Not going to lie but the title of the report dragged me in. popcorn::

Congrats on your graduation! Go White!!!!

THERE IT IS! I've been waiting for that! How 'bout that basketball game last night:headache:?

Raglan Road is definitely on my list of places I'm dying to try! Keep the updates coming :)

It honestly is SO SO amazing!!! DEFINITELY give it a try!!! And make sure you get that bread pudding...day dreaming about it right now.

Checking in :flower1: Loving your report so far! I have skipped Raglan Road in the past, but I think I now have to give it a try! Looking forward to reading more :)

:welcome:THANK you so much for reading!!! Definitely don't skip Raglan Road next time! It really is worth all the hype you hear!! Yum, yum, YUM

Hi, I don't often read trip reports, but I am enjoying yours. I think it is because your love of Disney permeates the report. So glad you had a nice trip. Looking forward to the rest!

Well thank you SO much for joining along!!! It's hard for that love not to permeate through all areas of life... just ask Joe...who am I kidding, ask anyone I know:lovestruc!

I love getting in on a TR nice and early :) Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!

Hahaha I love finding TRs that just started too! Otherwise I spend way too long playing catch up. More is on its way - THANK YOU for reading!:goodvibes

Hmmmm what ever do you mean...:teeth:!

Africa, Asia, Dinosaurs: alive and well - You name it, it lives here

AHHH FIRST PARK DAY!!! It was FINALLY here. It was surreal to wake up and start the first official day of the trip I had been planning for a year.

If you didn't guess by the title, we were headed to...BLIZZARD BEACH!

;) I kid. Obviously we were on our way to ANIMAL KINGDOM! I had mixed feelings on starting our trip at a park other than MK. But we had THE BEST day and I'm so glad we did it (actually, everything really) the way that we did.

We were up by 6:50 and left the room by 8:10 (too many detailed notes in my phone). The bus ended up arriving at 8:20 and a few minutes later...

WE WERE THERE!!!

And SO excited!!! I just love that picture of Joe. He was starting to get "it"pixiedust:

The park officially opened at 9 but they let us in a few minutes early and we headed straight to Expedition Everest. Joe had been to AK a long time ago but before EE's time so I was very excited for this ride!

DSC08531.JPG

We were in line by 9 and off by 9:15. When we obviously decided to ride it again based on the "5 minute" SB wait. Which was closer to 30 seconds. Two rides and we were done by 9:25. Joe LOVED this ride! I was so excited and EE would quickly become one of our favorite rides of the entire trip.

A quick nap during our second ride left us feeling refreshed and ready to take on more AK!!!

I have to mention the crowds at this point. We were having fun but they were just absolutely unbearable. I will never go the week after NYE ever again...

IMG_5380.JPG

You can see the walkways were completely crowded with people - no space to walk at all:snail:. Just a complete disaster...

After battling the crowds, we finally made it to Kilimanjaro Safaris where we had a FP+ that started at 9:20. Since we had some time before it expired we headed to Kusafari Coffee Shop and Bakery and while I could have used a little kick of caffeine, I had my heart set on something healthy to balance out all the unhealthy food we'd be eating.

A brownie paw. :rolleyes1

Which they, surprisingly enough, did not have available at 9:30 in the morning. Darn.

I settled for an iced coffee which was fantastic. We found a spot on a nearby bench and just enjoyed sitting in the sun for awhile. The weather, by the way, was absolutely beautiful. Sunny, warm...just perfect. This was one of those "this is why I love Disney" moments. I wouldn't have many more of these this trip so enjoy it while it lasts... (*sarcasm alert*)

IMG_5383.JPG

We sat for a solid half hour and by 10:10 we were ready to go on safari. I'm going to include every single picture I took of the animals okay?

Kidding. :worship:

There's a couple for proof though.

Up next...Donald, Dinosaurs and Dining oh my!

Donald, Dinosaurs and Dining oh my!

After our safari trip we headed to Dinoland U.S.A to use our next FP for...you guessed it, Dinosaur!

As we were walking in though we spotted someone we just had to say "hello" to...

First character meet of the trip! A+

Then it was on to make history with the time rover.

Joe looks unimpressed as a dinosaur attacks us.

So, I have to include an ancient picture from a Disney trip from many years ago. Where my Dad looks equally unimpressed and my sister...well that is what pure fear looks like. And I'm hiding next to her. This picture cracks me up every time.

:rotfl:

I can't lie, that dino still scares me just as much today. I've just learned to put on a brave face...I think.

:confused3

If you can't tell, we rode twice. Once in the SB line because the wait was so short and once with our FP right after when the SB said 20 minutes but the SB'ers got on at the same time we did. The great Disney ride time inflation.

Next we headed to Primeval Hurl. Why? I'm not really sure. This ride messed with me last trip but I thought I'd give it another shot to see what Joe thought. The verdict? Primeval Hurl probably won't exist much in our Disney future. An FYI to anyone planning - the SB wait was 10 minutes at 11:30 and we waited five minutes total.

We had an EE FP burning a hole in our...MagicBands so we headed to Asia and ended up using our FPs at 11:50 and waited 10 minutes.

Joe's face...:rotfl: Guy's got no sense of humor at all.

After our awesome ride, we were STARVING and in desperate need of refueling. We were having lunch at the Yak & Yeti QS counter. And could not find it anywhere. And when I'm hungry...:furious:

index.jpg

It was time to eat. We finally found it after wandering aimlessly for what felt like far too long and finally asking somebody to point us in the right direction...to the place we had passed multiple times. In our defense, there's no real signage for the QS and it was slightly confusing.

Anyway, we were ready for some food.

The top picture is my delicious lunch which was the teriyaki beef bowl. Joe, the bottom picture, got the chicken curry. Both were fantastic. Mine had very few pieces of beef which was kind of a bummer but the sauce, vegetables and rice made up for it. For dessert, Joe got the chocolate mouse and I got the banana pudding - which was the clear winner.

We were done with lunch by 12:40. We had both commented how surprised we were with the pace of the day. I know I was afraid the days would fly by but they really didn't. We packed in a lot to our days but also made sure to take some time to relax and the days really felt very full and long.

Next time - Lion King Festivals and Jungle Treks

Love all the ride photos especially the Everest where you two are fast asleep ;) We plan on hitting up Yak & Yeti QS on this upcoming trip. I want to try the fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. Or do I want the egg rolls?

Awesome start to your day at AK! Loving the way those big crowds look :thumbsup2....I am very tempted to go after NYE in my future!

EE is one of my faves too - it's great you got to ride it twice already!

Yak and Yeti looks great! I plan on trying that when I am in AK this spring, your pics and review pretty much sealed the deal, thanks!:goodvibes

I'm excited to read more! Loving this so far, it's so fun!:cool1:

Yak & Yeti QS was great! And I say...get all of the above! Calories don't count in Disney World...right?

The crowds were just insane. Glad someone could appreciate the ridiculousness of them...

There's more EE rides coming! And definitely try Yak and Yeti - I had heard great reviews and they all lived up!

Sounds like a great day with a lot accomplished!!

It was a FANTASTIC day. We crashed pretty hard this night. Disney is exhausting - in the best way possible!

Loving the TR so far. Its so great that Joe is starting to GET IT. I remember the exact moment my DH got hooked and it so nice that it is something you can both enjoy.

My goodness the crowds! Just crazy crowded.

Glad you enjoyed EE so much - though guess you were bored already by the second trip if you got a nap in.

With the theming AK is definitely a good one to just take some time and just take it all in.

Well, a couple days into the Chicago trip my dad got a voicemail from the transmission people. Who said..."we have good news." :woohoo: After calling back we discovered it was NOT the transmission but a bolt that had come undone on the wheel :cool1:
Don't you just love it when that happens!!! I am glad it worked out.

First, car troubles are the worst, and having to deal with it right before a long road trip? I couldn’t even imagine.

And let me tell you how I almost exclusively crave Chic-Fil-A on Sundays. I think it’s some weird chemical imbalance I have.

We LOVED the 60s section the first time we stayed at POP. The location cannot be beat. We requested it last time, but ended up in the 80s. Not that I’d complain because we were still in Disney.

It is THE BEST. I think maybe part of him knew it would be a deal breaker if he didn't 'get it'...:laughing:Kidding. Kind of. It is very nice that it's something we both can enjoy! We're sort of tossing around the idea of a September trip - that was all his idea! And every day he asks (multiple times) "so...did free dining come out yet?"

This is a really good trip report. I'm in!

THANK YOU! It's a lot of fun to write and re-live all of it! It's also really making me want to plan another trip...:hyper:

Following along!
We were there 1/8-1/15 too!

Really?! How did you like visiting during this time? I absolutely loved it (if you can't tell). The ONLY downside was the weather! But even still we had a lot of really nice days. I just can't seem to shake the day we attempted to drink around the world in 45 degree weather...we made it about three drinks in before we realized it just didn't feel right.

My goodness the crowds! Just crazy crowded.

We LOVED AK for that reason exactly! I always liked AK but I would've said it was my least favorite park. That opinion has drastically changed!

Don't you just love it when that happens!!! I am glad it worked out.

It was SUCH a relief!

I know the feeling. When my wife said something similar... it reconfirmed I had found the right one.

:rotfl:Exactly! It really does reconfirm you found the perfect person!

We were so bummed about Chik-Fil-A but we remedied that on the way home!

60s section at Pop is the way to go. It is hard to complain about room location when you're at Disney...but that room location sure did feel like it made the trip that much better!
