Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Here now and the tour groups and cheerleaders are loud and are everywhere. It's 12:15am and I can hear them running around outside. They kept us up until after 2am this morning.
The staff won't do anything about it.
Hmm I'm shocked that if you call and complain that the staff will not do anything, I wonder the guardians are doing?

I agree, but who knows maybe the Pop redo is a test for what they will do to all values.

HUSH!!!!!!!!!!! :ssst: Don't say that.

But now that you said it ........... I'm going to say they won't (just my opinion).

A huge chunk of change is made from groups; sports groups, dance groups, BTG groups (see below where they cater to them) .... and they truly need to be in regular guest rooms. If for nothing else those murphy beds will be broken left and right, the tables for sure will be damaged and they won't be able to keep up with maintenance on those rooms. Having stayed (unfortunately) among the BTG ....... you wouldn't believe what happens in those rooms. It would be in Disney's best interest to keep those beds as secure as they can, simple and less mechanics.

Maybe they are trying to set POP aside from your average value just like AoA is, maybe they are trying to raise the prices on POP to be more in line with AoA rooms by providing a Queen Bed and the "studio" option .... maybe there is a motive here beyond what we are seeing. Hey maybe they will not let groups stay there anymore, that is a positive.

Two years in a row I was stuck in middle even though I requested the opposite side of resort, and asked to be moved once I was in, they refused. Why? Are you ready? "By law we must mix families in with groups." It was a nightmare. Security came out multiple times and stood there and watched the chaos. They were banging on my door and windows. One night I went to the room below me and banged on their door. Four boys - claimed it was not them and the kids in room around behind them was problem. I went there. At this point three kids kicking and banging on door while security was on the ground looking other way. A room with all the furniture stacked against wall, mattresses upright, around 15 kids in there. They ran off and door opened to kids who had been yelling in english claiming they didn't speak it. I called them out and told them they better knock if off. That night got quieter but it was day 4 of this. The next day I found one of their tour guides (With BTG, they are not chaperones only tour guides who vanish at the hotels) and told her I was not going to tolerate it. That Disney security was doing nothing so ........ since I now felt unsafe in my hotel room I was going to call the POLICE department and have them show up. Was quiet after that night but trip ruined. Next year the "noise" was down late at night (they had extra security and I had talked to them on arrival of my expectations) but the pool, food court and buses unusable ...... so the next year I moved off site cancelling my reservation and telling them why.

Calling on your phone takes you to a call center, forget it. Walk to the front desk, tell them what happened, ask for a manager and tell them you will be calling the POLICE if it continues. They need to control their guests or take care of you. Also on returning home you need to write Disney, give details especially your location and if you know any group names, take pictures of their backpacks etc. Was told if enough complaints come in on a group whether hotel or parks, then they don't let them come back. While kids move to another tour group, they don't want to be banned as it's big cash cow. They may send guides who will keep control.

Price increases "may" be coming to Guests wanting to stay at "Pop Century-A Gondola Resort"!lol:)

http://www.wdwmagic.com/transportat...gondola-system-about-to-become-a-reality-.htm

- Gondolas floating over the villages at Caribbean Beach Resort, how island like to have that over your rooms .......
- Providing special transportation to value resorts, or are their rates hiking after POP renovation ...........
- Florida storms and lightning ...........
- Boats to DS can't even run with rainstorms ......
- Monorail reliability .............

Yeah think I will stick to buses or my car if they go gondolas.

But would it not make more sense to to do an ON THE GROUND mass transit, like in airports etc? After watching the last few monorail evacuations imagine how simple if it were on the ground, and there would be no pilings, posts and heavy wiring to maintain ......

There would be street crossings to deal with .......... who knows, Disney does know how to waste money. I personally would rather they invest in the parks!!!! Not 15 minutes of transportation.

If true, how sad, Disney needs to put their money IN TO Epcot, not how to get a few folks in/out of Epcot.

wow I'm sorry that happened. I would think that it would be better to keep the groups and the families separate, and honestly I call BS on that one. It's not the families responsibility to take care of other guests. From day one when I saw the first of many shirt the same I would ask to speak with management and tell them I've dealt with this before, and you tried to go through the hotel and security, but next time you will be dealing directly with the Orlando police, because even though its a hotel, there is still a noise ordinance and such that does need to be followed. After my first call to the front desk I would tell them if it wasn't resolved in 15 minutes you would be calling the police. Honestly they know when these groups are coming and how many rooms will be needed. They should just give them one building and keep the families on the other side. Give them the 90's. That also gives them a pool to deal with

Never call. Your phone is not connected to the front desk, it goes to a call center that might not even be in Orlando. They'll do nothing. You have to walk to front desk and usually ask for manager as front line won't do anything either. Take names.

Thank you for the update, but last year we had an issue with the room next to us having their alarm go off for over an hour, we called and someone was at the room within a few minutes, mind you nobody answered the door. But eventually the alarm stopped.

They processed your request through because it was simple to handle.

Cheer was there last week and they didn't stay at Pop. It's baseball and gymnastics this weekend.

Definitely videotape the running around with your cell phone. ALSO videotape security standing there when all this is going on. Go to the front desk and show the videotape to the managers. Explain that you are calling the police and submitting all the recordings to the news media.

BE SURE TO RECORD the interaction that you have with the front desk, you know, for the media and quality assurance purposes. :thumbsup2

Watch how fast they take care of the problem.

Many news stations are actively seeking news footage and they will definitely be interested in this.

It could still be cheer. While their competition was this past Saturday, they could still be there. Our high school team just got home last night and 2 others that are in our general area are coming home today.

23 sleeps until we hit the road! We are stopping on the way there so 24 sleeps until we check in.

I'm very excited.

I tried to find an answer but didn't see one...are there any refurbished rooms done yet or is that just now a work in progress?

I understand that a room request is just that, a request, but how accommodating are they to requests at the POP?

We are just under 4 months out from our first stay at the POP Century and our only request was for connecting rooms. Do you think we have a fairly good chance of getting them, and if not, would they be fairly accommodating in at least getting us rooms close to one another?

I'm the fifth wheel of our group, 3 adults and 2 girls, so we need 2 rooms. I get the room to myself, but with the understanding that my brother and sister in law get to stay in my room when the girls are napping or sleeping. Well, that's if my brother isn't snoring at night. if that's the case I think I'll be stuck with a roommate

Yes,an excellent chance since that is your only request.

If you do find at Check-in that they have not assigned you Connecting Rooms,ASK AGAIN, and tell them you don't mind waiting if none are available at that moment.:)

our only request was for connecting rooms.
I haven't had much luck with my online room requests over the past 3 yrs at POP or AS Sports or AS Music. However, I have found that the check-in CM will do everything possible when you first arrive to get you what you want (or at least as near to that as possible). So when you first arrive on property (or first find out your room assignment) don't be shy about going to the CMs at the front desk and requesting what you need. They will try very hard to make it happen.
