New Magic Kingdom Welcome Show & Main Street Opening UPDATE: Page 15 - Post #281

Can you still meet Mickey at town square for am EMH? Is there someone scanning magic bands to verify you are a resort guest?

Most likely the time change will be an 8AM park opening. You PPO breakfast will no longer be PPO, so you will be an hour behind. Allowing folks onto Main Street early will not set guests behind, it just changes their advantage over those who enter at park opening. Park opening changes take any advantage away.
So park hours have changed on 2/20 (President's Day) from 9am-8pm to 9am-11pm. Wishes is still scheduled for 8pm, is that likely to change? I was able to snag some back up ADR's in case of early park opening on that day, 7:20am Chef Mickey's and now I have a PPO for CP on 2/22 at 8:35am. I'm keeping my other ADR's for now just in case (8:10am CP on 2/20 and 7:50 CM on 2/22.) Do you think they're likely to change again to an 8am opening? Last year's calendar shows park hours as 9am-12am with Wishes at 9pm.

I am not sure, but I believe that Wishes goes as scheduled. When park hours were increased while I was there, Wishes stayed as planned.

In regards to an earlier opening, if Disney determines that changing to an 8 AM opening is beneficial, they will do so. I have no idea how long they wait before making a change.

ooooh! Thanks for sharing! hmmm...not sure what I think of that! I thought maybe you had enjoyed one, but you haven't left for your trip yet, eh? I think @yulilin3 had a picture of one that looked a little more appetizing! It would definitely fortify you! That Doughnut Sundae looks stunning!

During the length of our trip, we managed to try both of these. I'm not a fan of the hash brown dog. The bun was dry, the hot dog was tough and the cheese and hash browns just sort of crumbled everywhere. The Sundae was no surprise- really, really sweet and a little on the nauseating side that early in the morning. That said, my 4 yr old grandson loved it.

We leave in 10 days. I have no desire to try the hash brown dog, but I'll be all over that doughnut sundae as a dessert if it's served all day!

Yes, the sundae looks like something you'd need to share with 5 or 6 of your closest friends or you'll get sick! But it does look good - glad that your grandson enjoyed it! Sad to hear about the hash brown dog! It does look a little messy to manage, too!

Yay for you! In the comments section, someone asked about the dog and it's only served until 11am, I think. Not sure if they mentioned the sundae!!

Ahhhhhh!!!! :crazy2: Now I feel sick!!!

@cakebaker wrote about their experiences earlier in the thread and mentioned ONLY resort guest (and PPO) were allowed thru tapstiles at 7:45. Non-resort were held. So maybe that's why they didn't check bands? Just a guess, though.

They were scanning bands at the tapstiles and it's a safe assumption that as it's always been, you had to be a resort guest to get in for EMH. At that point, there is no need to check bands at the rides since only resort guests were allowed into Main Street to start with.
I do know that at 8:15 my daughter went back into the main street area and ropes were once again up. When they tried to re-enter they were stopped by a CM and questioned before she let them re-enter. EMH mornings are still for resort guests only. That's not to say that someone might slip by them- but there are measures in place to prevent it as best they can.

During evening EMH, they were checking bands at the most popular rides, but only asking questions at secondary rides we rode. I have an issue with that as it really doesn't take much to figure out what they're going to ask, but that's another subject entirely.

It looks like the one they are selling actually has more stuff on top

Going again tomorrow morning, this time I'm live streaming so can't live report. But it will be interesting to see if there are more people now aware of the new opening procedure. Last Wednesday the crowds didn't really pick up until around 8:30ish.

Interesting to see how things will evolve... and now back to food - I hope people don't order that hash brown dog thinking that they'll be able to eat it on the go, like a regular dog! Looks like it requires a knife and fork, and perhaps a bib...

You certainly can't pick it up. As I said before, it was all just piled on top, not really melted together in any way. It was pretty yucky to me and I was expecting delicious. The mini donuts on the other hand were heaven.

They sound like heaven! It's too bad about the dog - sounds like it has potential if you're not in the mood for something sweet - maybe they'll improve it?!

It could be that we just had bad luck. Hot dog, hash browns, bacon and cheese- put together right ought to be delicious!
