We are going in 2 weeks and I did the online check in already. We have a pool view room and the CM I booked with said there are some with king beds and to request that when I get close to the trip. I only saw options for upper, lower, lobby, and elevator. Should I call and add that request? Do I call the front desk or just the Disney number? Thank you.

I am interested in your reasons for changing resort. I often read on Disboards of people swapping and wondered why.
I love AKL and have stayed there a half a dozen times but it came down to cost. $393 for a pool view but last night with a passholder discount $280 for SSR. I'm flying down with a friend for the race.

Just changed back to AKL - standard view room - for my pre-cruise stay. I've been back and forth between CBR, an AKL value studio, and an AKL standard view room. I opted for the room over the studio because I'd like to have a better chance of getting into the room earlier and I figure it will be easier in a room than a DVC studio villa.

Call the Disney reservations number and have them add the request for King bed. You can't reach the front desk -- even if you're in your room at the resort and call the front desk, you will reach a call center!

Have a great trip!

Ahh I get it. We rent DVC points so we have to make a decision and stick to it.

Thank you I'll call the Disney reservation line.

Just got home last night from our week long stay at AKL Kidani.

It was nice always having these guys outside our balcony;

The room was a hike to/from the lobby, but I got to admit we really enjoyed the underground parking and were able to park near an elevator that was about 3 doors down from our room. While we enjoyed the animals, the resort was really oddly set up, especially when it came to the pool.

....I quite agree...I could never figure out why the pool area is 'across the street' and not with closer access from the rooms....:confused3

....nice pix, BTW....

We'll be at AKL from Feb 7-12 as part of a split-stay from Feb 4 -12. We have a Savannah view room with bunks, even though it is just Hubbs and I. This was the only option available for the military discount (which we appreciate so so much).

What do you think the chances are of Disney accommodating a request for a room with 2 queen beds or a king bed in savannah view at online check-in? I think the request is a slight down-grade from what we paid for if both were available with the military discount, so I'm hoping it's possible.

I think they will. Make sure you ask at check in. When I was there in Jan with my BFF we had a bunk bed room booked through Expedia which I didn't know and they asked if we wanted a different room.

What time are the wildlife let out to roam the savannas at both resorts? TIA

Some animals remain on the savannahs 24 hours a day. Some (such as giraffes) go into their barns in the evenings and are usually released very early the following day. There is no set schedule that I am aware of.
