I called Disney today bc I was curious where the room refurb would start just to keep in consideration for when I put in my requests (if I want to be further away from that) and the lady spke as if I was insane.... she said there is absolutely no room refurb, only the pool? I mean I felt like I dreamed this room stuff up! She was kind of rude about it so I was curious whats actually going on. O well

As you just found out, the phone CM's have absolutely no clue as to what is actually going on at the resorts. They are never informed about refurbs. I have found the absolute best place for accurate and up to date information is right here on the DIS.

I'll be heading to POP shortly and will get all the refurb info I can.:)

Does anyone know if the lake view rooms in the 60's section are still standard or have they made them all preferred in that section now?

We were there in June. Booked standard room. Requested and received a 60's lake view room, even got connecting rooms with my friend. We were a few rooms down from the end of building 5. Close to the bridge.

We are headed to POP in 2 weeks, is now a good time to phone through a room request? and if so what number do i call ?(calling from UK)
TIA X

You can phone requests in anytime from the day you book up until 4-5 days out. When during that time frame makes no difference.

407-934-7639.

I had a lake view from my standard 60's room in late Aug-early Sept. Room 5333 to be exact.

Thanks! :)

I check into Pop on November 6th and I'm thinking of trying to book a bounceback while I'm there. Can anyone there now or soon tell me what the current bounceback is? TIA!

The only Bounceback info in my room is for Free Dining in a Deluxe or Moderate for certain dates in 2017.:)

The bounce back is for free dining and they are odd dates.

5/30-6/6/2017
6/30-7/5/2017
8/11-9/9/2017
12/8-12/20/2017

Those are the dates available. It is for every hotel. You just have to call x8844.

I believe that one ends 10/31 and we don't know what, if any, bounceback offer will be available in November.

Right, it does end 31 Oct. It will be a matter of seeing if Disney will release anything else. I think since Stay, Play and Dine is out that will be running.

Yes! Same complaint about the smoke. We just got back from 4 days yesterday. Building 10 in the 70's section. It was a perfect location, 30 second walk to the food court for all those mug refills :-). But you had to walk right by the smoking section, which always had smokers. Weird that they would put it there, right next to the main building. It was really annoying, but my only complaint. We had a great time. Not big enough for my family of 5 though (only 2 of us were there this time) so booked a bounceback to try out POR next year!

I can see the smoking section you are speaking of on the official POP map. If I remember correctly (from way back in 2008) the main exit out of the back of the food court is right there. Is there any other exit door out of the back of the food court? One that would avoid walking through the smoke? By my own admission, I have a freakishly sensitive nose. I smell things that others don't. Think human bloodhound. LOL. Sometimes that's good, sometimes bad. With cigarette or cigar smoke it's bad.

We arrived yesterday. I'm not as happy thus far with our stay as we were last year. Housekeeping has dropped the ball repeatedly, the room we are in is badly in need of the upcoming refurb, and the food at the food court has seemed worse (and more expensive) than last year. Also, I cannot believe how much more floor space there is in a king bed room (which we had last year) vs a room with 2 doubles.

On the upside, most CMs we have encountered have been great and bus service has been good thus far. Oh, and I got carded in the gift shop when I bought a corkscrew...lol.

No clock in the room, which is bothering me more than I thought it would, and as far as I can tell the mugs are still handleless. Also, no sign of construction yet.

I hope things start to get better for you. Regarding the clock, call housekeeping and get them to deliver one to you. Have a great trip!

We are here right now. We checked in Sunday the 16th. We are in the 90's and it has been super quiet. I haven't heard the neighbors at all, which was a concern of mine. The walk to the food court is maybe 5 minutes tops. Our room has been kept clean. It has a little wear and tear, but it's in good shape. All of the cast members we've run into have been nice and accomodating. The bus boards are working well. The longest wait time for a bus has been 10 minutes maybe. Mugs without handles, no alarm clock (but we just use our phones). The wifi is weak and we weren't able to get a signal for our Roku, but we haven't been watching that much TV anyway.

Hmmm, there was a report from a very reliable member on another board that they purchased mugs with handles at Pop Century earlier this week (Monday or Tuesday) and that both types were available that day. I wonder if it was just some leftover inventory *or* if it's the beginning of phasing them back in and they just sell out so quickly that they can't restock them fast enough so all that's left on the shelves most of the time are the handless mugs.

I didn't see any other way to get to the building we were in (10) without walking right by it. Sorry, we were not there long enough to check out the resort much so i'm not sure of the layout but if you were walking out the back doors, the smoking section was to the left of the main building, right by the path to the 70,80,90's. So maybe if you're heading to the right (50's) or straight (60's) you might be good. I'm sure many others have a better idea of the layout.
