Stitchs great escape is going seasonal

Interesting (but why, I don't know) that Stitch's last day for now is October 1 - the day of the MK 45th anniversary.

I may be at MK that day, but, as usual, I'll likely walk on by.

Suggested seasonal schedule for Stitch: Open say Feb 1, end season Feb 2.
Oct. 1st it the last ay of the fiscal year for the Walt Disney company that is why it goes seasonal then.

I remember going on Stitch right after they opened it. The ride was pitch black like Alien Encounter. The following year I went on it, and they left a few lights on, so not scary at all. The Nerfing of this attraction was disappointing to say the least. Still It's an attraction at MK, so I'll go on it.

I am well aware. The Wreck it Ralph rumor was first reported on wdwmagic and then picked up by various outlets. It is said to be a simulator attraction and possibly 3D (WDWNT claims VR but I have heard otherwise).

In my opinion its time for stitch to go. I like stitch the character but that attraction was just bad.
I knew that you knew, was primarily for those who did not. Just tagged to your initial mention on your thread here.

That spot would be perfect for a seated, air-conditioned, $59 cupcake experience.

Well, we've never seen it. The reviews were bad enough that we never bothered and I don't think we're missing much. I just wish they would just close it to start the Wreck it Ralph attraction. Seems a bummer for them to close it and only operate it Thanksgiving and Christmas. They don't need to determine enthusiasm for it at peak times. They have data they can use to understand the current enthusiasm levels.

From what I'm hearing January 2nd will be the last day for good for this attraction and wreck it Ralph will start getting put in after that.

We go in October quite a bit. There has never been this much upheaval before. Peter Pan was closed one year. Small World re-opened our last day another year. And, the Railroad was being refurbished two trips in a row. But, generally, there have not been this many changes at the same time in October. I think it's poor planning on Disney's part to have two headliner transactions like Big Thunder and Dinosaur closed at the same time. And, why October 9th to end MSEP? Columbus day week is usually very busy. Why not wait one more week and close it on the 16th?

Headliners are closed for refurb simultaneously all the time, including in the same park. Be thankful you're not at Disneyland right now where there's no running Mark Twain, no running sailing ship Columbia, no Tom Sawyer Island access, no running Disneyland Railroad, and no Fantasmic at all due to 18-month closures caused by Star Wars Land construction, on top of various seasonal downtimes for holiday overlay installation on no fewer than four headliners between now and November.

Yes many think it's a bad experience, myslef included. Having said that. It's a MK attraction that I ride everytime I go to WDW. at least once a trip. DD loves it, so we go together. When I go to MK next week, This will def be on my list, esp since it might be going away forever. If it's open in 2 weeks (doubtful) I reccomend that you experince it, and form your own opinion. Who knows you might love it. Many people do.

Can any old-timers answer this question? What was the original inhabitant of the Stitch building? Voyage to the Moon? Thanks.

I'm not sad to see that I'm missing out on this when I go around Halloween. I was one of the many children frightened when it was the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, so when Stitch is running around in the dark, I always have flashbacks :/ The downside is I do love Stitch, and I wish they could have done him justice with this.

Yep, I think it was called 'Flight to the Moon' back then.

That makes me think it would be nice if SpaceX or NASA came in and sponsored something in that location. But they don't seem to be doing many sponsored attractions these days, at least not new ones.

If you like stitch I suggest you see it at some point that it's open before January 2nd...

I wish Stitch could still get his own attraction, but this one does leave much to be desired. I am totally down for a Wreck-it Ralph attraction though. As someone mentioned, I think turning the Speedway into a Wreck-it Ralph theme would be absolutely brilliant if they could find something else to do with the Stitch building. Why don't they do the Monster's Inc dark ride like the one they have at DL? I would love more dark rides at MK!

Have you seen the Monsters Inc ride at DL (well, disney's california adventure)? It's.. really not great. We were at DCA on a 7 day and Monsters Inc was a walk on. And it truly was a 7 day. Cali screamin was an hour wait 45 minutes after park opening and Toy Story Mania was 45-50 minutes even early in the day. There's a lot more they could've done in that dark ride and you can tell it was a cheap out cover for superstar limo. They tried with what they were given, but ehhh.

I'd love to see a Wreck-It Ralph ride. I feel like that movie was really underappreciated all said and told. It had a lot of heart. I recently watched Lilo and Stitch finally after having never seen it and, while it was alright, I found Stitch to just be kind of annoying until halfway (or a little more) through the movie. Stitch ride was going to be a walking break for us, so I don't really mind it being down while we're there. I'm sorry for all yall who are gonna miss out though. Turning tomorrowland speedway into a sugar rush ride would be Incredible. Speaking of, I'm still really surprised there's nothing Incredibles. I know it's an older IP, but with a sequel maybe coming out in the next few years (I mean we do have a tentative 2019 release date), I'd expect a little love toward that area too considering they just did absolutely nothing with it way back when. Or there was a dance party, or something. Which, meh.

I love Lilo & Stitch but do not care for this attraction at all. As long as they do something with it and don't just leave it as seasonal openings for another 10 years.

They need to move Tomorrowland back to the "TTA" concept of Tomorrowland being a futuristic space port where the attractions are all part of the space port.

How about a Miles from Tomorrowland attraction? The Miles show EXISTS in the "TTA" universe. That would make more sense then a Wreck-it-Ralph attraction.
(Though I think they ruined the show by changing the voice actor of Miles)

A man can dream ... who knows maybe this and the painting of the rocks are part of a bigger re-imagining of Tomorrowland.

I think that once WDW added Stitch and or Buzz, they felt like they had a license to add anything to that space (Pun intended) that was not of this world. An attraction based on Hero's Duty would certainly qualify.
