Forecast - thunderstorms next 10 days

All of the radars show it no where near Orlando.. obviously it will still effect Orlando a bit but I dont think theres reason to freak out. Am I the only one surprised that this many people are panicking? Its september... in florida... this happens every year.....

Maybe I'm the crazy one but I just don't see anything to worry over!

I'm not panicking- we have been to WDW many times this exact same week. My concern was only around the flight actually being able to get there- yes, that matters to me. So we switched our flight to today and hopefully will have less (potential) issue. The fact that we were able to switch with no charge indicates the airline was also concerned about the storm. If there was not a weather advisory for them, we would not have been able to change flights. The storm changing tracks is great for Orlando, but when we were having to make the decision yesterday, all we could go on was current info at that time. There is no harm done- we aren't canceling anything, just adding a day to an already fantastic vacation!

SWA does the same. An alert hits they offer changes for free. We were thinking of changing to tomorrow night a day early too but that is when it hits the beach so I don't want to waste a one time free change by gaining a possible cancellation.

We go this time each year too. The last big storm for us was the Hurricane closure 1999.

They'll send you an email alert if your fp ride is closed due to rain or for another reason. You will be able to use an anytime fp during the day at a list of attractions. Space mountain is one of those attractions.

We were in MK yesterday and had a 4:20 to 5:20 fp for mine train, it was torrential rain and we did a few rides in tomorrowland and then left, rain never stopped. We never got an email about a free fastpast.

Was the ride closed down during your FP? It will only give you the all day fastpass if it is closed down during your time

We got one yesterday for Splash. We've got them in the past for SDMT.

It was torrential rain and thunder, we couldn't make it over to the ride due to lightning/thunder. Were would I find the email? Would it have to be closed down the whole hour?

I'm not sure how long it needs to be closed for, I thought it just had to be closed at some point within your window. It would just be in your email inbox but it also would have shown as a FP in your MDE APP. Either way, it's too late to use it if this was yesterday

Well, that's not doing me a whole lot of good considering I am not even going near a park when the forecast is almost non stop rain all day.
I guess this will be yet another trip without riding the mine train.

The problem isn't hitting Orlando, the problem is the majority of the heavy torrential rain bands will be south of the storm in the outer bands as it makes land fall. That puts Orlando right in the cross hairs for a ton of rain. It looks like it may have skirted somewhat to the north, so that will limit some of the rain, but it will be here and it will be heavy. Thursday is a washout, unfortunately it was the only day I could get FP's for the Mine Train, so it looks like I'll miss it, yet again.
Yep. We live in South Florida (West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale area) - on the opposite side of the state from where the storm is going in. We are 200 miles south of WDW. Yesterday WE got heavy, heavy rain from the outer bands of the storm. And, they are calling for more today. Doesn't really help to watch the exact line of where they say it will go ashore.

It doesn't sound like this time of year is a good time for you to visit DW going forward.

Let me save everyone some time.....my gmboy95 forecast for June thrue September of 2017....Hot, some sun and clouds, probable tropical downpour or thunderstorm during the day....this is the forecast for almost every single day in that window.....your welcome....oh and there could be a deadly, horrible hurricane thrown in

This is exactly my thoughts :teeth:

All of them do it, though most airlines don't say "one time". Winter weather, big scary tornado weather (DH got caught in NY 2 months ago in that mess), hurricane-y weather, etc.

Why not? Dress properly, go and have a new kind of fun.

I think the majority of people are more concerned about their flights. I don't care if it rains when I am there. Just as long as there is no delay with my flight.

as previously mentioned, it's not just a normal day with rain forcasted- i.e. rain for 15 minutes then stop. it is a tropical depression. it has been raining non stop since last night here in Tampa Bay area

Orlando area does not have the same forecast as you. Your in the 10+ inches of rain area, they are currently saying maybe 2 inches of rain here by the time it ends. It's cloudy and it's kind of like that seattle rain where it's more of a mist with occasionally more than a mist. Very close by though is double the wind and rain prediction so it wouldn't take much for this storm to shift and be miserable nonstop rain.

What are they saying about Friday? That is my day of concern. (We are driving up at 1:00pm on Friday.)

Oops -sorry! you are completely correct. I didn't think about that. 10 inches vs 2 inches is a significant difference then again you are right again about the shift too.

I posted without thinking thoroughly :) blame it on the rain :)

There is going to be some bands of rain on and off (like normal, just less rain and lasting longer).. They are expecting a normal weekend and talking about some morning and then just after you would arrive rain. the storm is more north and might become a tropical storm. There is flood watch for just west of property but as it gets closer they are expecting that to be most of central florida. Disney is on the wet side of the storm so there will be more rain and stuff but the storm itself will be more north so it'll just be the edge rain if even that..

If driving up means coming from south florida, not too much to worry about. If driving up means heading south to disney then overnight thursday (friday morning) about 2am is when they expect it to hit land..

This narrows down the weather to the theme parks area but the video is the overall video they are doing for the storm so it sounds worse than it's going to be as there are areas not far from theme park land expected to be much worse.. http://www.clickorlando.com/weather/attractions
