Me and the ‘Rents! - A Sept 2016 PTR - TR Link up!

I know I know! I've been meaning to watch them. I was never interested when I was younger. I asked my boyfriend last night (who I think has seen them all except the new one) and we agreed on Star Wars fireworks because we've seen Fantasmic and will see it again later this year. I'm not sure how long these fireworks will last either. But I will try to watch some of the movies before this trip it's on my enormous list of movies to watch before the trip.

What else is on your movie list? Better get started tonight!

I'm more scared of heights than the drops in it, but I still plan to try it next time. Tot is a bad example! I went on it, but I had a panic attack and cried the whole time. I don't see myself riding that again, but I like it up until the elevator part:rotfl:

Whoops! Sorry!!! Bad example. I'm also a little nervous about heights. What helps me on rollercoasters is being on the side that the stairs are on as we go up the hill. On EE that is the seat on the left. Let Josh get in first then you. And maybe consider closing your eyes after you go through the "temple" until you get to the top. Or looking out into the horizon and not down. It's really a great ride - I hope you can gather courage enough to ride!

No shame if you can't, though! I can only rock climb up to a certain height and then my legs literally lock and I can go no further and pushing me just makes me cry!

Mostly rewatching classic Disney movies and even some of the newer ones Josh hasn't seen. Last year a photopass photographer told him he looked like Flynn Rider and he said "who?" while I was wearing a Tangled dress with both characters on it :sad2:

But I also have Star Wars movies, Disney movies I somehow never saw, and some of the movies I haven't seen for Halloween Horror Nights houses on it.

I've kind of seen one haha It doesn't really count, but I saw one of the newer Star Wars movies in theaters when I was a kid because my younger brother wanted to. I don't remember much of it though.

I think I'll do EE this year. I'll just close my eyes if its bad, and I'll sit where you said. I was also sick last year by our AK day so I wasn't feeling as adventurous by then. We went to Universal after that day and I missed a lot of rides there too that I normally would've gone on.

Haha thank you! He knows that's a compliment now but he had no idea what that guy was trying to say. The photographer just pointed and was like he's on her skirt... :rotfl:

Go, Raeven, Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Don't forget to take the obligatory pic at the top of Everest! You won't need your eyes shut here - as you can see, you are surrounded by snow!

Haha I'll try to get one of him maybe when we're near the Tangled restrooms! :rotfl: I'll try and EE selfie although we have photopass so I'll have the ride pic if not.

We're at the 40 day mark!!!!!! :rockband:

Pretty soon we'll be at the 30 day, then the 20 day, then the 10 day and then we'll just have one day...then we'll be there!!!

Here is my FB post today:

Wishing I could wear these to work today! We have 40 days to go!!!

My work would not approve. Which is a little part of the draw. They are so stodgy, sometimes I just want to shake 'em loose and be a little "outrageous" (outrageous for them, not for normal people). Unfortunately, they would not approve nor find it amusing.

Who needs 'em anyway??

Well....I guess I do. Someone needs to fund my Disney obsession!

sheldon&penny.jpg

Yes, it occurs to me to, Sheldon. Now...how to convince my employers to give me more money but not have me work for it....

If any of you figure that out, let me know!

In other Disney planning news, I was reading several blogs about Typhoon Lagoon. I'm pretty sure that's where we are going to go even though we've been there (MANY years ago) and never been to Blizzard Beach. The atmosphere is more vacation-y (tropical) to me. And my parents.

So, on those blogs they mentioned that you really should get water shoes for 1) the scorching hot pavement as you are waiting in line for the slides and 2) the very rough bottom of the wave pool. I don't remember a lot from my last visit to Blizzard Beach but I do remember the rough bottom and getting scraped up.

Naturally, I had a moment of panic. Would I be able to find any water shoes at this late in the summer when all of the retailers are switching over to back to school????

The answer?

Yes.

Whew!

I picked up a pair for me, a pair for my mom and a pair for my dad. They were pretty picked over for the women and somewhat for the men. There were some $10 shoes on clearance and I thought to myself, "Hey, you're only getting these for a day at a waterpark. No need to spend lots." But then I saw the Speedo ones which were WAAAAY cuter than the other ones. But also almost 3x more expensive.

I called my mom up and asked her what was more important. Price? Or looks? I sent her a pick of our options:

upload_2016-7-25_11-53-58.png

We agreed. The Speedos for sure. After those the DBXs look just blah.

We did get them for my dad, though, who won't care at all.

Our new water shoes!

upload_2016-7-25_11-55-13.png

I put those up to take a picture and Sirius could not let them be without investigating them first. I tried really hard to get him out of the pic but he just wasn't having it! So, let me introduce Sirius Black, Inspector of Watershoes.

Watershoe crisis averted! Whoo hoo!

Next I need more camera batteries, memory cards, and a blue summer dress for my Belle outfit. That might also be hard to find. Tally ho, internet!

Did I mention that I have only 40 DAYS TO GO????

So jealous I'm at 52 days!

Cute pic! I want to wear mouse ears to work too! The most I've gotten away with is a Stitch scarf. My boss is awesome about giving me the time off I want, but (I'm about to utter a sentence I never thought I'd say about anyone)he hates Disney :sad2: (that just doesn't compute to me). We actually have no idea why! A lot of the employees in our company do Disney for all vacations, and he has 3 kids but just doesn't like Disney? One time he told someone who goes "I don't get it there's only 3 rides there" but he also told me he doesn't like the company. So either he's very misinformed or he's just not very fun. (And he loves ESPN which is part of Disney).

We bought watershoes last year and I never even used mine. I got then cheap on Amazon but mine were more expensive than Josh's because for some reason the pink ones were most expensive :rotfl:oh well you have to have cool watershoes.

Typhoon Lagoon would be more choice too it does look so tropical and vacation-y.

But then I'll be the one so sad when I'm back and you get to go! (Never mind that I just did a ton. It's all about me. :upsidedow )

Fun hater. For sure. And super uninformed. I think that a lot of people don't like Disney because it's too "corporate". I sort of understand what they mean. Disney is a big corporation and it makes big corporate decisions. Someone once told me that WDW is all "manufactured" and nothing is "real". Like, duh. Why would I want to go somewhere that features mass shootings, environmental catastrophies, political mud slinging, and hate? Cause those are all real things that are happening. I don't even have to leave my house to have those things slammed in my face! And, excuse me, but my feelings of joy, wonder, and excitement are very real. Which do you think you would choose? I can have all the real I can stomach the rest of the year. This year, I'm taking two weeks off! (sorry. rant over.)

Did you not need watershoes? Was the pavement hot at all? I've noticed lately that I am really sensitive to hot/warm pavement. We'll bring them regardless but I am curious.

Haha aw, not being at Disney is so depressing. You'll just have to relive it with a wonderful trip report. Then when I get back a week later we'll both be sad and writing trip reports :rotfl2:

Did I make you feel better? Because I think I just made myself depressed.

I think it's part he sees it as a corporation or "the man" or something. He also seems like one of those people that complain about everything, and think it's cool to hate what's popular and well liked. He went on his own vacation recently (obviously not to Disney) and complained about paying for food on his vacation. It was almost like he was glad to be back at work :crazy2:

We didn't end up going, we still have the tickets! But Josh used his when we went to Discovery Cove. I just wore flip flops there and no shoes in the water although the bottom was a little rocky there too.

My SIL is like that - it's cool to hate the popular stuff. Drives me crazy. Well, I guess I'm glad he doesn't like Disney because I would hate to run into him at the parks! :scared:

Haha yes no Disney haters in our parks! People who are miserable at Disney must be the worst. :crazy2:

My manager actually got demoted this morning and doesn't work in this location anymore which kind of surprised us all. Hopefully our next manager will be nice and like Disney! Luckily I think our vacation approvals go through a corporate office so their aware of my upcoming vacations.

Whoaaa!! I didn't think that ever happened. We have some crazy, not good managers but they never get demoted, they just get reassigned or promoted.

I'm crossing my fingers for you and your new manager!

I've seen it happen a few times when I worked in the mall, and I guess this counts as retail too (although my job is administrative). They send someone to a different location and take them a title down if they get customer complaints/stores doesnt come back with good enough percents during inventory/doesn't get along with someone on staff. We don't actually know why my boss was demoted but it might be a combo of 1-2 of those.

For awhile we might be without one because they are so slooow with hiring/promoting here but I'm waiting for some good news. We heard it's going to be someone already working for the company so there's a lot of nice people they can choose from.

Holy crap!!

I just got an email update from Touring Plans about my crowd tracker and they are upping the crowd levels at AK on Sept 4th from a 6 to a 9!!!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I know that it is just a guess-timate mixed with some math and they could be wrong but still. YIKES!!! I am so glad that I decided to go with my gut and get those two FP+s for KS and EE that evening. Just in case it does end up being true. I am hoping that the evening won't be as crowded as maybe the day would be but c'mon, it's last few days of 11pm AK. Everyone is going to be there and everyone is going to be staying up late. Plus, I just found out that they have a DVC after-hours event that night so, it's going to be crowded.

I'm glad that I know it could be a possibility ahead of time. That way, I can make extra sure that I pack my patience and that I maybe modify my expectations. My goals are to:

1) Ride KS at dusk.
2) Ride EE at night (hopefully several times but I'll be happy with just one....maybe...yes, just one!...or two...two isn't much to ask, is it?? Okay, okay, one. With an extra bonus one. :hyper:)
3) See the Tree of Life "show"

.....4) Maybe Discovery Island Carnivale, if it works out.

So, with those goals in mind, I really think that it's really do-able. And just enjoying walking around AK at night will be a huge plus. I'm going to really try not to focus on the crowd levels and just relax. 'Cause that's what this trip is all about. Relaxing. Taking our time.

Maybe if I repeat it to myself 100 times a day until we go, it'll finally stick.

It won't. :lmao:

38 Days to Go!!

38 Days to Go!!

We are at AK the day before. I think we have a late start that day... maybe a break before dinner and then hopefully going back for the night show depending on if that break takes place.

For me...my trip is all about NOT BEING STUCK AT WORK!!!! It has been hellacious and we are losing over half of our staff the week I leave... we have trained no one to replace the ones leaving and I am the one that usually picks up the slack when others are gone... Going to be a long 2 weeks for those there....

I got the email too for my September and December dates! September ones aren't too bad except our last day but we aren't doing much besides our 3 FPs and an ADR. But one of our December days when we planned to hop to MK at night to see Wishes (because it's always a party time of the year when we go) was just raised to a 9  I might have to change some plans around when we find out if ROL will be running by then.
