Ugh...I've had those nights. I've done a fair bit of shift work myself, plus the horrendous jet lag I get when I fly to work overseas. So I feel your pain...What a crappy night. Got off work last night at 10:30, home by 11. In bed by 11:30 with the alarm set for 5am for the next shift.
This is how I spent my night:
"Midnight... gotta get some sleep."
"12:30.... okay... need sleep."
"1am... might as well read for a while."
"2am... okay. Surely I can sleep now."
"3am... only 2 more hours to go."
"3:30am... puppy's barking."
"4am... maybe I can get an hour."
4:15 - 4:30 finally fell asleep-ish.
5am. The alarm goes off. Oddly enough, I'm still tired.
I get to that point as well. One time when I couldn't sleep, I decided to get up and make cinnamon buns at 5:30 in the morning. And no, not the kind that comes in a tube. I made them from scratch. It gave me something to do for a couple hours at least. Those nights are the worst. I'm impressed you waited for the alarm. Usually I reach the point where I figure, well, if I'm going to be awake, I might as well go do something useful.

This guy only made it as a side to the entree. That's gotta put life in perspective.
Get use to it, it only gets worse
There are at least 10 Canadians or Brits on this thread, just waiting for a syntax or spelling error. It's what we live for. Like Dismoms and a dining plan offer.
No, but our Costco as started to dial down the summer furniture aisle, just waiting for the halloween/xmas early bargains...

Blessed be the name of thy Norm.
Top O the mornin Dads! At airport to head up to Chicago and fly back tomorrow afternoon. Other than tired of airports lately nothing of significance around here. Cheers and have a good one gents.
Hello All. Two weeks until I am in Disney. I was a hack yesterday at the golf course, but it was fun.

Works for me...I have a shed for my push mower and a bunch of other junk that we use once a year. You can have my shed and all the junk in it.

Hack or not, I'm certain it better than being in the office.Hello All. Two weeks until I am in Disney. I was a hack yesterday at the golf course, but it was fun.
'Morning all...
Back to see the surgeon this morning; basically I have the green light to do pretty much anything I want again (except maybe roller-coasters for the next couple months). The neck and back will still hurt for either about a year or from now on (which ever comes first), but most of the nerves are in better shape so I can't complain.
So far I also haven't had to cancel our planed WDW trip for September.
But having had to toss that last two attempted travel itineraries out the window, I'm still only cautiously optimistic.

Oldest dd's relay team didn't make it for the last event, but she came home proud to display her first hardware.
My wife just texted me and told me accidentally put a heat wrap/pillow in the laundry and it exploded
Yeah... I hear you.
It used to be "I can do that!"
Now it's "I don't know if I can do that."
And soon enough will be "I can't do that."
Evening chaps, from a very temperate London evening. 1 bottle of heavily overpriced wine, 2 cocktails (DW didn't care for hers) and pretty much the best steak house in London.
Came back to reality Saturday night and spent yesterday looking at pics and videos from trip. Was a nice family time trip as more and more we just aren't together as a family and this fall both kids will be away at school.
Hey, ain't that CJ's tag line?
Thanks. I gave CJ that tag line, or stole it from someone else here. I figured it was deserving of you in that picture.

Been there done that. I hate the panic when the time is ticking away and there is not much you can do about it.
Reconciled to that fact a couple of years ago. Last week I was going to go on the roof to clear some stuff off and my daughter told me no. I told her I used to do it all the time and she let me know that was before I got old. Thanks kid.

Oh, I know. The other one's 4 years older.
Rules for DD#1. "Don't touch that! Don't do that! Don't look at that!"
Rules for DD#2. "Yeah. Whatever. Go ahead."

Haul it down here and I'll gladly let you dump the whole shootin' match in my back yard.

First kid is a pet. The second one is work.
Not sure how I missed out on joining the DisDads
but we just got home from an offsite trip for my niece's dance competition that wa held at the Contemporay.
Hey all! Been a while since I checked in.
The show The Chew is at Disney this week. Right now they are touring food and wine booths. God I love F&W. Should I just get in the car and drive up there?
He certainly was. And we told him he was the main event, not just an accompaniment to a 500g Nebraska Ribeye. So he was happy. He looks delicious.
It is, but if they do the chimney with Mickey and Minnie coming out of it in September, that sucker is mine.Ours too. Too soon! Too soon!
A place called Goodmans. There are a couple, the one we hit is in Canary Wharf. You kind of fall into 2 camps in London. Dudes who think that Goodmans is the best steakhouse, and Dudes who think Hawksmoor is the best. I remember a meeting last year that was scheduled for an hour and the 6 guys used up about 45 mins on the great steakhouse debate.Where is it?
I know...I'm more of a mushroom man myself. But to counter the argument slightly, I REALLY don't get grits. Spamalot was awesome.Glad you enjoyed London, come back anytime. The Marriot at County Hall is pretty nice, as you say, its a great location. We got married just the other side of the river in Whitehall.Don't understand your beans for breakfast thing though. Hope to get back there next summer.
Saw this on our last day
We would expect nothing less than high entertainment from a Dad with Goofy in his name tag.Well then, I'm should be glad that I'm able to provide y'all with such bright moments of high entertainment.
