Yes you can

Preferred are surfs up and touchdown

I never got that email about the pools
But not an issue as I don't use the pools when I do solo trips


I called Disney today and asked when did touchdown become preferred

CM told me it has been for some years
Told her I have stayed at touchdown the last 7 stays and never charged the extra for preferred

She explained that surfs up is completely preferred rooms
And touchdown has some preferred rooms and some standard rooms

CM said since I had standard room with a request for TD in past visits, I was places there since availability not an issue

Was also told that TD is on my reservation and the scheduler will try to honor it if it is available

Only those that book preferred for TD will be guaranteed they will get it


So I guess that means it is a maybe I get standard room without a view at TD

Now if others call, who knows if they will get a different answer....

For those that booked way before this info was posted here about TD status, the CM told me since the building was already a preferred building for over flow, they do try to allow standard rooms be used in 7 and 10 when possible

It's funny how you get different answers from different CM's. We just left yesterday. I did online checkin and requested TD. We got a text saying our room was ready, but it was in the Grand Slam building. I called and was told TD was now preferred and it wasn't available for our stay(we were willing to pay the extra) When we arrived at the hotel I went to the registration desk. I asked when it was changed to preferred, and she told me about 4 months ago. We were really bummed!

Recommendations on how I should list the TD preferred on the 1st page?
It currently says: Preferred rooms are in the Surf's Up building.

Do I put:
and some of Touch Down
all of Touch Down
your guess is as good as mine
depends on who you ask

Can I ask a question we have never stayed at All Star Sports were staying there in Nov/Dec . We just received a letter in the mail that the one pool will be closed for refurb during our stay. My question is what is the closest standard section to the preferred buildings?

We are the 12th-20th. The email states that the main pool will still be open - here is the email. Maybe it will be back up by the 17th and that's why you didn't get it? Here's hoping!!

Hey y'all!

Staying at sports for the 3rd time this year at the end of August!
Music and movies were the same price but I love that sports gets dropped off/picked up first. Hoping we get touchdown rooms! We stayed in the back side of the basketball section last time and it was terrifying at night! Lord knows what's in that water!!

I didn't but back in January we booked regular rooms and got touchdown due to empty rooms. praying we get upgraded again.

But it's not unheard of to be upgraded to a preferred. We've paid for standard for both of our stays at movies and both times have enjoyed the Toy Story building which is preferred.

Yes I know. I was just pointing out that the person I quoted did not get upgraded in January because Touchdown was not Preferred at that time.

If you have the "modify" option under your reservation on MDE, you should be able to change it to a preferred. If not or it doesn't work (it can be glitchy), you'll have to call.
