It was also announced on the daily fix at 12pm... Just sayin'
Yep, I came home and first watched the fix and went straight to the boards to see all the silly fun response people would come up with. I even pondered how I could come up with a funny response. I'll get to that in a moment. First I want to Thank the team for all the work they put into the podcasts, meets, and the boards. Way to go team!!! I'm sure most of the DIS is busy getting ready to travel for the mega meet. 500 is a lot of people. I'm glad the team is getting some more time to get things done.
Hmmmm I'm at a loss of something funny to say. Some one start please. Pass the popcorn popcorn::and don't feed the trolls.

That is unbelievably rude and entitled of you to say.

I'm actually happy now that today's show got canceled.

::yes::::yes::

I made concessions on Pete being sick on the last cancellation but this should have been announced way earlier than the day of the show.

The dis meet has been in the works for months now. They should be well prepared for the event by now and getting everyones credentials in order

Sorry if i come across cantankerous but I was eagerly awaiting this show for details about the meet, the auction, and recent events.

I don't remember this many show cancellations in prior years.

I just don't get that you can do 5 minutes for a daily fix but Pete couldn't give me like 45 minutes for a show today

Pretty easy 5<45 and 1 body < 5 or more bodies. So Pete left for 5 minutes (or how ever long it was) to film and post the daily fix while everyone else was still busily working on the meet.

Sorry if i come across cantankerous
"Cantankerous" probably isn't the word I'd use.

I'm also fairly sure Pete and the team probably don't give a hoot about what concessions YOU make (or any of us tbh) for them. They didn't have time for a show.
Surely you have other things to utilize your time?
It's one hour in your week for a podcast... There are a million more important things in life to be miffed about.

I had a funny feeling there wouldn't be a show today...sounds like so much that needs to be done. I would have loved one, but i understand and the reality...it helped me get a bit more done in the office today before I GO TO THE MEGA MEET!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!
How exciting Tigger!!!
If you get a chance, track down @disneysteve and get a photo with Flatty Jes!
you too @NeuroCindy and @pjweaver

First of all, I just want to give you huge props for your obviously awesome time management skills. I'm someone who is pretty good at time management, but I will admit that I do fall behind schedule sometimes, and sometimes I don't know if I'll be able to get everything done in time until right before a deadline. It's stressful to be that close to a deadline and realize that you may have to give something up to get things done. So if you never fall behind schedule and you always get things done on time without having to cancel other projects or activities, I'm really impressed. Please share your secret!

I have to admit ... I haven't been watching the show for very long, so I don't know how often it has been cancelled in the past. What I do know is that the size and scope of the mega meet is unprecedented, and I'm not surprised that it's consuming a lot of their time. Also, I get the impression that they've been putting out more content now than they ever have before (including the daily fix, which is only 7.5 months old), and that does mean less time for the "housekeeping" and administrative tasks.

I'm really not sure what you're trying to say about the daily fix vs. podcast. My guess is that the 5 minute daily fix probably takes 20-30 minutes to prepare, film, and produce, and only requires two people (the "host" and producer). The podcast (even a 45-minute podcast) probably takes at least an hour an a half (likely more), and requires more people to be present. In an all hands on deck situation (which I'm guessing is what's going on right now with the mega meet), I'd guess it's a lot easier to spare 2 people for 30 minutes than it is to spare 6-7 people for 1.5 hours. This is all speculation, though - I don't work for the podcast, I'm just making guesses on what Pete might be thinking based on my personal experience with non-podcast-related projects.
Like I said ... I'm really not sure what you're trying to say. Do you mind elaborating a bit? Just trying to understand where you're coming from.

It's not for any of us to decide when there should and shouldn't be a podcast. That decision belongs to Pete and the team. Believe me, I understand the frustration at not having a show, but I also understand that there may be times when things just don't go my way. Unless I'm the one putting the free content out there, I don't have a right to complain when it's not there.

I block out an hour each week for this show just to watch it live.

I spent at least 15 minutes on youtube refreshing my screen hoping there was a delay in the feed.

I would greatly appreciate more notification next time. Please be courteous to you viewers

I usually don't respond to your posts, but your rudeness to the team really has me curious... I do not think I've ever read any positive feedback from you. If the show impacts your life so negatively for various reasons, why do you keep listening? Just wondering what drives you to spend so much time preparing to listen to the show, and if so many things bug you why you continue to listen. You seem to be pretty invested in the team's personal lives.

I'm glad most of the listeners can cut them some slack. I have seen how hard they work to ensure everyone has the right kind of information from their shows, and how much effort goes into these meets that they put on for everyone.

Wish you the best. Just sad to see that listening to the podcast doesn't bring you as much enjoyment as it does to most of us.

I think Pete could have done an extended daily fix or how about a free form show like he use to do on Fridays.
I don't need all the bells and whistles and to be honest I think shows like what i like about segment are overly produced.

I just wanted some info about meet and greet , the auction and little more dis news. He didn't have to bring the whole team in the studio. Maybe just oliver and pete would be fine with me.

I just hope this doesn't become a trend.

I think you're over selling this.
He's done it a total of what? 4 times? Maybe 5?
It was never a regular thing, and never a promised thing.

Complaining about this won't change it.
You won't get a free form show.
You won't get a show with just Pete and Ollie.
You won't get an extended daily fix.

There was no show. End of story.

I may go back and listen to the 8th anniversary show, or maybe Ben's show. Or maybe even the back story show from last year.
Plenty of options to get you through and still get your DIS fix.

In terms of the mega meet and auction, I think most of that info is in a sticky post at the top of this forum, and Pete mentioned the auction on today's daily fix. I'm sure that John will post any additional information if/when he has it.

Also, I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but ... they can't do a Free Form Friday to replace the regular podcast, because Free Form Fridays (which I think actually started as testing new equipment and then became something they did when they had time) can't be uploaded to iTunes (potential content rating issues), and that's not fair to the audio-only listeners. Plus, those shows are probably almost as much work as the regular podcast - cameras and mics still need to be set up and tested, things may need to be fixed in post-production. It's easy to think that all the goes into the podcast is the hour we see, but there really is a lot more that needs to be done for a podcast to get filmed, streamed, and uploaded.

At the end of the day, it's Pete's decision. Personally, I wouldn't call it a trend just because it has happened 2-3 times this year. To me, that's just 2-3 isolated incidents in a sea of awesome content.

As Jes mentioned, you can go back and listen to an old episode for your DIS fix. There's a lot of awesome stuff in the archives. It may not be the most current news, but it's still a dose of Disney and a dose of the team.
