The (Foodie)Force is Strong with Us...a Feb/Mar 2016 trip! THE END - NEW 9/13 Disneyland TR link!

Day 6 Part 1: The most magical "magic" shot and breakfast at Be Our Guest!

It was really nice to be on a monorail resort because it makes getting to MK so easy. We were at the gates at 8am and we were let into the park! We definitely weren't the only ones though as plenty of others had pre-park breakfasts and were strolling down Main Street, but it was much less crowded than it usually is and we took the opportunity to take some pictures with the castle with fewer people around!

The darn crane was really beginning to annoy me. We would have some great pictures if it weren't for the crane, so I decided to PAINSTAKINGLY manually remove the crane in Adobe Lightroom using the clone funcion. I would have used photoshop but my license expired a long time ago when I used to be an actual photographer, and have not used it in years. So Lightroom would have to do for now. It's not the easiest application for this but I think I did a decent job. If you look really closely though you may see where I tried to cover the crane. Just too lazy to do more work on these pictures. I really love how these came out because now I can frame some pictures without the darn crane!

We arrived at Beast's castle and checked in for breakfast. When we entered, we realized we didn't know where to go since we had pre-ordered and didn't need to get on line. We approached the CM standing by the queue, and we said we had pre-ordered so can we sit down? He seemed a bit confused at first but then he found us on his ipad thingy and said we could sit anywhere. So we sat in the West Wing!

I had the same thing I got last year, which I loved. Open-Faced Bacon and Egg Sandwich - Poached Eggs, Applewood Bacon, Brie Cheese, and Arugula on a toasted Baguette served with Fresh Fruit.

It was just as good as I remembered it! I love all the components of this dish... the toasted baguette, melted brie, crisp bacon, eggs, and arugula. They all complemented each other perfectly and the eggs were perfectly cooked with oozy yolks which acted as a sauce for the whole thing. Yum yum yum! I sent a picture of this to my sister and she was super jealous, this was one of her favorite things she had last year.

DH got the Croque Madame - Open-faced Ham Sandwich topped with a Fried Egg, Gruyere Cheese, and Béchamel served with Fresh Fruit. He thought this was good, although it is not the best Croque Madame he has had before. He prefers it when they broil it with the cheese and sauce a bit so that it's golden and bubbly.

We're headed to Adventureland!

Thank you so much for your BOG breakfast review! We have a preopening breakfast there on our October anniversary trip. I have only been for lunch once, and he has never been.

Your pictures on Main Street and in front of the castle are exactly why we are going to do this!

I am going to send the link of this chapter to my DH. I wasn't sure what to order, but I love the look of your meal. I am not wild about super-sweet pastry, and they serve you so much! I think I am going to come prepared with a container to pack away the treats to eat later.

Yay! on getting onto 7DMT without a wait. The picture is a riot, including the couple in the front row!

Hate to tell you, your selfie on Dumbo was photobombed! That dude looks familiar, though...

I love Donald's meeting area. Mesmerizing!

The Pooh meeting is awesome!

Great morning so far- fantastic update.

:woohoo:

Day 6 Part 2: A Date with a Dole Whip

I ordered a Dole Whip Float and I ended up with the biggest float I have ever seen. It was massive! I wonder if it's because of my birthday button!

We decided to head to the Peoplemover again because I can't go to MK and not ride it. On the way, we snapped these PP pics and I also painstakingly removed the crane from the shots after.

It was such a weird and random interaction. I didn't dwell on it for the rest of the day, but now when I see one of those handicapped stalls with it's own sink I'm always questioning myself, do I wash my hands twice, once inside and once outside, or just do the sink outside? #deepthoughts

After PFH we decided what to do for the rest of the day. We had already used our FP+, and since we had such a productive morning at MK, we decided to head over to Epcot, our favorite park ! We'd finish the night off at DHS to watch the Star Wars fireworks again! Sounded like a great plan to me. :thumbsup2

On the way out we took some PP pictures since I was wearing a new t-shirt. I would soon put the t-shirt I was wearing earlier in the day back on...it was just a more comfortable shirt and now that Anna pointed out my gut I felt self conscious and had to keep sucking in during pictures while wearing the Olaf shirt. LOL

Once again I removed the crane in the pictures:

Wow, that is an incredibly big Dole Whip, with mad hula skills!

Great picture of Hook and Pan fighting. I LOVE taking pictures in PPF. I HATE the results!

It was totally worth it for you to take the time to remove the crane. You got some fabulous pictures of the two of you.

What?!? I'm caught up???? Sort of. For now.

I'll have to come back and read about Amish country later, need to get caught up elsewhere first.

:goodvibes

I loved reading this trip report! I celebrated my 40th at Disney also just this past May #ifeelyourpain. I loved the all little ways the CM's made your birthday special. I was disappointed in the response from CMs during my trip but I guess they can't make everyone's celebration special. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of your report. I would write one but I can't seem to figure it out! #fortyyearoldproblems Lol!

Wahh! Well, I hope you get a lil extra pixie dust! Sometimes Disney will surprisingly & miraculously have things open that were scheduled closed or add some EMH.... :tinker:

I hope so! But I am at least hoping that the crowds will be low because of the closurse that week. Hyperspace mountain AND Haunted Mansion closed...two big ticket rides that I won't get to ride :(

I don't think WOC will be affected at all (though it might not run every night?) But they don't do anything Halloween-related at DCA so you should be able to catch WOC at some point.

Cool, I am really looking forward to seeing WoC!

What a bummer about closure timing, but I'm so glad you'll get to at least catch Paint the Night once. I've heard it's amazing! I was at DLR at almost exactly the same time for my honeymoon two years ago, and we missed seeing the Haunted Mansion because it was down for the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. It was still such an awesome trip...I'm sure you guys will still have a great time! :)

Thanks!! I am really looking forward to the trip despite the closures. I guess just being within the Disney bubble is good enough for me afterall!

Hey, I'm doing the Wine & Dine 5k next year for my 45th birthday. I have never done a run either and hate running. DH is going to do the half, since he has done a marathon before. I just want to do it to get into AK without all of the people. I need to train a bit. I am hoping to be able to run most of it. Good luck with yours. It will be a blast. I bet your costume will be really cool too.

Haha, that's good reason enough to do the 5k! LOL. I want to see what it's all about! Although the training part doesn't sound too appealing. Maybe if things go well I will do another Disney Run. We shall see though!

I completely understand about DLR. For us, when/if we do go, it will be a once in a blue moon kind of trip. I mean, we don't even go to Disney once a year and we live 7 hours away. So I would be fairly upset if things were closed. I know there is always a good possibility that something will be closed but I can still be upset about it, right??

Yeah, you know, every year we go to WDW something is closed...one year it was space mountain, one year it was jungle cruise, although none of those rides held as much anticipation for me as Hyperspace Mountain. :(

I think signing up for a Disney 5K is awesome! If I wasn't a teacher and could get time off during the school year, I'd definitely do it. And I'm not a runner either. I have done 5Ks in the past but never on a consistent basis or anything. Currently I am at my highest weight ever, except for when I was pregnant, and I HAVE GOT to get myself in gear so I only wish I could do a Disney 5k. Perfect motivation! :) I think you have just inspired me to add it to my bucket list!

I'm one of those people who never thought of doing a run. I have friends who do 5ks and half marathons n stuff but I was completely not interested. So it's a shock to me that I signed up, but now that I did, it's quite exciting. Although not looking forward to the training.

I think you will still have an amazing time at Disneyland. I really loved it there and want to go back. There are so many things to do, a couple closures shouldn't derail everything.

Thanks! I hope we won't be too bummed about the closures but you're right we'll have plenty to see and do (and eat!) at DLR!

Wow, congrats on another Disney trip and good luck with the 5K. I am not a runner AT ALL, so I'm with you there, but I do really love walking...but I still have zero interest in ever signing up for one of these. :rotfl: I hope you have a great time, though!

Thanks! I hope I survive! I don't even want to put on my sneakers and go outside to train. It's just really hot right now!

I share your pain about Hyperspace Mountain :( We are there from Sep 19th to 27th, and I was kind of hoping they wouldn't do Ghost Galaxy this year since Hyperspace is relatively new. I really don't enjoy the Ghost Galaxy overlay and I know my younger kids will hate it. Our youngest was going to ride Space for the first time this trip also but I'm thinking she shouldn't as I think it will scare her off of it forever!!!

Aww, yeah you and me both. I am not really a Halloween/Ghost kind of girl. Haunted Mansion is not my favorite ride by far. It's fun to ride but usually I only do it once per trip. So I would probably not enjoy ghost galaxy either. Bring back Hyperspace Mountain! Hey, do you think I could start a picket line in front of Space Mountain? It'll only be the 3 of us. "Hail no, we won't go!!" :dance3:

Could you maybe have a day at Disneyland the first day you arrive in LA or stay overnight and go the next day, then stay at DH's parents for an extra day before heading back to DL??

Yeah we're still trying to figure that out. If only they would release the actual closure dates, so we can make solid plans. Because switching our dates around would screw stuff up for everything we booked so far. Plus our sister gets here later than us so she may have to do some solo days. it's just a mess if we do. So still waiting for some concrete information before we fully decide yet. :)

You'll do great. I'm not a runner but am a walker. I walked a marathon and half marathon one weekend. I never thought I'd be able to do it.......but I did. Everyday you are at disney you are walking a 5k, so you've had plenty of experience! Think of it this way, it's about 3 times around World Show Case.....a piece of cake.

Awesome! Thanks for the vote of confidence. And the funny thing is I mentioned to my sister the same thing. That we often walk like 10 miles a day at WDW, so the 5k isn't that bad if you think about it. That argument didn't quite work on her. ARgh :sad2:

It's Saturday night in the summer. Must be time to get a bit caught up on trip reports!

yay!

I always love reading about EPCOT, especially updates where lots of samples of food happen!

Epcot is my favorite park, hands down.

Mexican Donald is really cute!

He is!! I love is sombrero.

The shrimp taco looks veeerrryyy good.

It was!

I want a table with an aquarium in it!

Don't know why it's not standard issue. Seems practical to me.

The Flower & Garden shirt you got for your DH is perfect.

I know!! it was so perfect.

That is really cool that you stumbled on the Disney training grounds for characters.

Yeah, whaddya know, the non-character magnet manages to see a whole bunch, and without Chunkysis either! Woohoo!

I really enjoyed your recap of Behind the Seeds. I did this tour in January. I haven't started writing about it yet, I'm a couple of updates away, and I'm starting to forget a lot of the tour!

We didn't do the spice/seed ID. I would have rocked at that. I cook a lot and I have over 100 different spices in my cabinet, which hangs off my pantry door.

It was a cool tour. I'm sure you would have been really good with the spice jars. They were neat trying to figure them out.

Wow, not too many people on the ride right now.

Yup, definitely lots of empty boats at that time.

Oh, no!!! Major bummer!

It is really frustrating when you are trying to plan and the info is so vague or delayed.

I hope you can work something out for the things you want to see on the trip.

:goodvibes

Yes the DLR Trip that we went because of Hyperspace Mountain and now HSM is down....sad.

I love all of these shots of the castle. The lamp looks like a full moon in the first one. Great photopass picture, too.

Thanks you just reminded me of a picture I forgot to post. I will do so in my next update.

YUM- The drinks sound fantastic. Bet they were refreshing. Sorry the rest of the meal didn't blow you away. Adventurous doesn't scare me, so I was intrigued, but the reviews I have read about Skipper's have mostly been tepid, along the lines of not worth the price.

The drinks and the appetizers were the best. Everything else was just ok....not bad, just ok. Our skipper was fun at least.

YAY for a meet-up with Topdog! I'm glad you were able to work that out.

Yeah me too! An unanticipated Dis Meet. Those are the best!

Thank you so much for your BOG breakfast review! We have a preopening breakfast there on our October anniversary trip. I have only been for lunch once, and he has never been.

Oh it's really cool to get to the rides so early. The breakfast is great too! I consider this a must-do for people who want ot get in early.

Your pictures on Main Street and in front of the castle are exactly why we are going to do this!

Thank you!

I am going to send the link of this chapter to my DH. I wasn't sure what to order, but I love the look of your meal. I am not wild about super-sweet pastry, and they serve you so much! I think I am going to come prepared with a container to pack away the treats to eat later.

It's a great breakfast, served quickly so you're in and out and ready for the day!

Yay! on getting onto 7DMT without a wait. The picture is a riot, including the couple in the front row!

Yes! They are hilarious!

Hate to tell you, your selfie on Dumbo was photobombed! That dude looks familiar, though...

Damn it, that stalker keeps following me around. Gotta go show these pics to Disney security....

I love Donald's meeting area. Mesmerizing!

The Pooh meeting is awesome!

Great morning so far- fantastic update.

Thanks! The meeting areas at the big top are awesome!!

Wow, that is an incredibly big Dole Whip, with mad hula skills!

The dole whip lovingly takes a bow while I eat a spoonful of it. Buahahaha

Great picture of Hook and Pan fighting. I LOVE taking pictures in PPF. I HATE the results!

Yeah they are so hard to capture a good one. You need a camera that works well in low light, and you can can't use flash. It will wash it out.

It was totally worth it for you to take the time to remove the crane. You got some fabulous pictures of the two of you.

Thank you! Exactly what I had in mind. Now we can frame them!

What?!? I'm caught up???? Sort of. For now.
\I'll have to come back and read about Amish country later, need to get caught up elsewhere first.

Awesome!!!Have to catch up on yours too!

Aww, I'm sure you had an amazing time. Happy 40th!! We're in the same club. LOL. I'd love to see a TR you have to start a new thread from the Trip Report Boards and go from there.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm all caught up! I love all your Star Wars outfits!

Thnks Rachel!!! and congrats again! Can't wait to see pictures of him (and they will be awesome of course with photog daddy and mommy!)

A new PTR for a new WDW trip!!

I know I sound really bummed and bitter after the recent DLR news but I have come to accept the fact that we may not be able to ride or see all the things we really wanted to. It sucks, but there is nothing we can do at this point. :sad:I know it's not the end of the world, but it's really me just venting after being let down when the last few months I've been so excited. Well, let's see how this trip turns out. Will it suck? Will it be great? I'm curious too. I guess you will find out in my TR when we return in September! :thumbsup2

On a happy note, I did something that I thought I'd never do in my lifetime, I signed DH and Myself up for the DISNEY PRINCESS 5K in February 2017!! So we're going back to WDW in February!!

party:party:party:

You might wonder if we are runners. DH is a sometimes runner. He's done a handful of 5Ks his lifetime, nothing longer, but ME? ABSOLUTELY NOT. I despise running. I don't even like walking all that much. But I am determined to do this for a few reasons: it seems like a whole new way to experience Disney, I definitely would like to get healthy in the process, I want a Run Disney medal, and well, it allows us to go back to DISNEY WORLD FOR MY BIRTHDAY...AGAIN!!

:jumping1:

I would really like to give this a shot even though I'll be walking for most of it. I never really had much of an endurance for running and I have all sorts of knee and foot pain, but I want to try running at least a bit of it. I guess it is time to lose that belly that Anna so kindly pointed out and get in shape. :rotfl:

I am trying to convince Chunkysis to participate too. I think it'll be good for her. Plus, think of all the characters she can meet on the course! But she is pretty much not interested. I even said we could dress up like princesses! She asked which princess I'd be and I blurted out, Pocahontas! She said she'd think about it. I'm still working on her!

OMG what did I just do...I signed up for a 5k?!?!? :eek::eek::eek:
AND I agreed to run it dressed like Pocahontas???:eek::eek:

I will probably have a little PTR for this at some point because I don't know the first thing about the Run Disney races. If anyone has any tips about Run Disney, or running in general (for beginners) please let me know!

Oh wow, that is fantastic!!! Good for you!!!!! I know I'm so tempted to sign up for a DisneyRun but man....I hate running LOL How 'bout I live vicariously through you and see how YOU do, then I'll decide :rotfl2: But seriously, I think this is really awesome!!!:jumping1:

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement, not only for our Disneyland Trip but for signing up for the 5K! I look forward to writing these TRs! Since we have the 5k next year, and the big family trip that I'm planning for August 2017, I think it'll make sense for us to get some annual passes! Maybe we can squeeze in a few other trips as well. It'll only make the pass more worth it, right? :thumbsup2

Also I wanted to share some PP pictures from MK I forgot to post in my last update. Sometimes the magic shots come later than the regular shots so I forget about them until I scroll through my album further.

This is the first balloon magic shot I got! I was so happy to see it! Funny, it seems to do a good job of hiding the crane!

I spent some time wandering around the stores again, before we headed over to the ferry to DHS for some nighttime shows!

Coming up, some Fantasmic, some more Star Wars, and some Tiki drinks!

Oh the things we'll do to go to WDW... :rotfl:

I actually hate running too, but I won't lie, I have also thought about maybe one day walking a RunDisney race...

Yeah it was one of those things I thought I'd never do, but wanted to do, ya know? But really it's just another excuse to go to WDW... :rolleyes1

I hate running too. I literally get out of breath in about 60 seconds. Plus I have a bad knee. Sigh. I think I'm going to have to walk most of this! But thanks for the vote of confidence!

On a happy note, I did something that I thought I'd never do in my lifetime, I signed DH and Myself up for the DISNEY PRINCESS 5K in February 2017!! So we're going back to WDW in February!!

Oh my goodness! I am running the 5K in Feb 2017 as well!!! Well, me, DH, and DS (16) are doing the 5K. My 12yo DS is doing the mickey mile and 6yo DD will be doing the 200m dash. We are excited! I am not a runner myself. My DH plays basketball, so he is used to sprints. My 16yo is the only legit runner, he is runs track in school but specialized in hurdles and sprints. We have been running around locally doing 3.1m run/walk every week and our best time is 44 mins. Just enough not to get swept. can you tell we are excited???

The currywurst sounds really good right now. I thought about getting it, but I can't remember why I didn't. I will have to remember the chips n guac if I need to absorb some tequila:) Pee Wee Herman dance coming to mind:dancer:

Tiki drinks? yum! Can't wait to hear all about it. Great photos! I love Flower and Garden at EPCOT...it just makes me smile...then add food... a winner for me.

Great updates! I missed the frushi this year - next time!

Thanks for the heads up on PTN and Space Mountain too. We are there 9/1-9/5 so we'll just make it!

Congrats on registering for the Princess 5K!!! :yay: Woo hoo! Princess weekend 2016 was my first runDisney weekend (I've since become addicted. :rotfl:) The 5k is almost entirely in Epcot so there won't be any boring stretches. You will love it!

#DisneyMath - Gets me into trouble every year!!!!! In theory this is the first year in a few we won't be renewing, but we'll see how that goes.....

This is the first balloon magic shot I got! I was so happy to see it! Funny, it seems to do a good job of hiding the crane!

Love this!!!!!!! We did the photo pass for the first time last trip (cause hello free with the annual pass) but only managed to get 2 or 3 magic shots.

We stopped at Germany and got a Currywurst with Paprika Chips from Bauernmarkt:

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! This looks so good. We missed this on our F&G adventure as someone may have drank too much and was in desperate need of carbs (aka pretzel) come Germany

Then we just walked around WS...we realized we didn't catch Fantasmic! yet and we could make an early show and still see the Star Wars fireworks after! So we decided to head to DHS earlier to watch Fantasmic! But first...more snacks!
Score!! I had no idea you could catch both in one night.

Sucks about those ride closures at DLR. Hopefully you still have a magical time.

it allows us to go back to DISNEY WORLD FOR MY BIRTHDAY...AGAIN!!

:woohoo: Anything to justify another trip, but really this is the best reason to sign up for the Princess 5K.

I am most definitely not a runner either, but it would be cool to walk a RunDisney event someday, especially Princess

I think it'll make sense for us to get some annual passes! Maybe we can squeeze in a few other trips as well. It'll only make the pass more worth it, right? :thumbsup2

Absolutely. Makes perfect sense ::yes::

Great Epcot photos by the way.
