Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

I can't believe ROL still isn't ready. When the delay was first announced, I was sure it would be ready for our October trip.
HA! I was expecting it for our August trip. I even booked 2 TH packages just in case! Now I'm not sure if we want to eat at TH twice.

We're on roughly the same timeframe, but still a bit too soon to start packing for us (we're more the day or two in advance type).

Goal for today is to figure out our Garden Grocer order and make a list of non-perishables we will bring down with us.

(One of the unexpected perks of of DVC is how much we actual enjoy breakfast in our villa ... we can get going early as needed, but we're not exactly morning people!)
We'll be away from home for just under a month so we have to be super organized!

Just gotta vent thx for listening. Planning for end of Sept. is super frustrating! Will JB continue or ROL will be ready? (haha). Or nothing? Can't book SW dessert party. It's as if everything is closing down after Sept.5!! Lol
I hear you! We arrive mid-October and I literally have back up plans for my back up plans! FPs are in less than a month and I still have no idea what parks we are doing when since so much is up in the air! SW fireworks will almost definitely continue.....not holding my breath for ROL.

Planning August was super crazy. Party was just released last week and MK hours were updated over the weekend! It seems updates for such are about 2 weeks before the beginning of the month. AS for ROL I think only Maggie knows for sure.

This has pretty much been the story since Spring. Those of us who were planning trips in May & June had to deal with:

1. ROL, JB, whatever....would there be a show....what would it be....when would it be shown....every night...how many shows a night.....would there be FP....would there be dining packages...how much would that cost....when can you make ADRs....etc.

2. Would AK hours be extended....would there be a night time safari....would it be a separate FP.....etc.

3. Star Wars fireworks.....would it still be the old show...would it be the new show....what nights....how many shows a night....would there be a dining package or dessert party...when could you reserve....etc.

4. When would the new Soarin' movie start....when would the 3rd theater open....would they run 2 different films....etc.

5. When would Frozen Ever After open....when would you be able to start booking FPs....etc.

And on and on and on.

Sadly, this seems to be the new normal for Disney planning...or at least for this year. It's extremely frustrating and stressful.

I have backup plans for my backup plans too. Glad we are here for each other. Lol

Never a dull moment with Disney planning.

Yep. We had a late May trip as well, and that drama was MUCH worse than this!!! I just really thought by our fall trip everything would be sorted out...especially since we got NOTHING new that trip, but.....alas, it's not :headache:

Our June trip was the most stressful Disney trip ever as far as planning. Everything fell into place by the time we traveled but it was a stressful few months leading up to it. We didn't get ROL, but at least we got new Soarin', FEA, new Star Wars show, night time stuff at AK, and a few other odds and ends. I need to take a year off from Disney planning to recover.

My dh says the same thing and he does almost none of the planning. He's talking about going to DC and UNI next year and we're going to UNI for the first time in a few weeks. He says Disney is too hard to plan. Well he is the guy who decided he wanted to eat at BOG for dinner at under 100 days out. Guess who stalked and got him it?

Yep, exactly....ahhhh, the memories! ;)

Unfortunately we did the beginning of June, so we got the JB show along with other AK nighttime stuff and old Soarin. But that's about it. I will say I'm glad we got to see the old Star Wars FW and the old Soarin (seen before but it had been awhile). I'm also fairly glad we never dealt with the FEA nightmare that was (when it first opened).

Next trip, we'll hopefully get all the new stuff. Maybe even ROL? Nah, who am I kidding?

Confession time... I wasn't going to book Club Villain for my October trip unless an AP discount came out, but I couldn't help myself and already changed my mind! Headed there on 10/1 now with my DD.
:maleficen

For unrelated reasons, I also had to rearrange my schedule for my conference later this week, so now I have a crazy schedule for this Friday - KTTK tour followed by Savor the Savanna followed by SW Dessert Party! I was going to try to hit all four parks that day, but now I'm going to skip EPCOT and save it for another night.

When we took our family trip at the end of April, I was upset that we were missing ALL of the nighttime AK activities. Now that I've seen the JB reviews, I'm not terribly disappointed to have missed it, and I'm not set on seeing it later this week. I would like to see the Tree of Life awakenings, but that's about it. I'll wait for ROL (if it ever debuts) for the rest!

Just got back. Thunderstorm put a damper on my evening AK activities, so even the best laid plans...

Sounds like an amazing day! SUPER JEALOUS!!! :thumbsup2

Last winter I booked Club Villain the day it came out ..... with no trip on the books ......... then I booked a 9 day trip around it. Now I'm debating doing the same thing. I would LOVE to do it Halloween night, so tempting! I wonder if they will let everyone dress up that night. If they do release the discounts, at least last spring they refunded the difference to those who had already booked.

Edit: Oh my, I'm sitting here looking at rooms for Halloween (great price for Sun & Mon) and CV .......... and I feel like I'm crazy for doing it. Already planned to leave town for Halloween ........ even though my fav holiday.
