July 2016 Trip Report Thread

So excited that July is upon us. While I am not going to the fort in July :guilty: I will be there in August. :jumping1:. So it's that much closer.

Looking forward to the TRs and Pictures. :thumbsup2

I am jealous of Randy being able to make such short notice plans.... Since we are coming from 1K Miles away, it's not as easy (especially with a DD11 to deal with).

Checked in and setting up in site 1004, thought I would post these pics. I know they are not the greatest but maybe BamaEd can do something with them. I will post site pics later once setup is complete.

Sorry, trying to get the hang of posting with pics from my kindle, hopefully I will get better with time.

proudmomof4, thanks for these.

I took the movie list and posted it in its own thread. But the activities picture is a little fuzzy. Can you retake it and post it over in the new thread?

Thanks and I will go looking for the Net version.

We will be there July 2nd thru the 7th. Stopping for a few days in St. Augustine on the way down, and Amelia Island on the way home. Almost two weeks total...

Not going into the parks this trip. We make it to WDW at least once a year (this year 3!), so a No Park Trip is not a big deal. With the heat and crowds, figured we'd spend our $$ on "other stuff". First time back to The Fort in several years (long story staring busy kids growing up....)
The following is all a surprise for the family, but they don't read the boards, and I have to tell somebody :mic: We are usually park commandos and miss all the extra things. This should be a fun change of pace.

I've reserved a golf cart, which we have never done before. Ordered a big box of 4th of July decorations from Party City. Going to hide the box until we get there and let my girls decorate the cart and campsite. Plan to entry the parade!

Also, reserved a Pirate and Pals Fireworks excursion for the 4th. Looks like fun and and a great way to experience the MK fireworks. Arr! pirate:

We are also going to Blizzard Beach one day. First time to a WDW WP too. They know that we are going, but I've secretly reserved one of the Polar Patio things.... they will think that is a BIG DEAL!

Super Excited!!

WOW!! You sound like us. We'll be there from the 3-7th. We also were going to Blizzard Beach and I rented one of the Polar Patios, but we nixed the Blizzard Beach idea when some of the party members were no longer able to attend and actually moved it to another date in August. We will also be entering the parade, but I forgot to rent the cart for the 3rd to decorate it, so I don't know if I'll have a cart, but the boys will have their bikes in it at least. We also will be doing NO park days.

Well count us in for July. I've been checking online for a week now and this moring I punched in the dates 7/4 to 7/10 and BAM a premium site popped up so I took it as a sign and jumped on it, a few minutes and melting the Disney Visa credit card a little we are book. It's kinda last minute for us, but we're excited. It's just going to me and my DW this time around. So get ready for long lines, hot temperatures and high humidity...we're going to Disney World!

Still debating on renting a cart, so far we know we're planning on dinner at Trails End, and Boatwrights, DW wants to rude the new Frozen Ride and I AM booking us the Behind the Steam Tour, plans won't let me book it back in February.

I'm pulling a @tiggerdad on this trip since we're not travel with family or friends like our past two trips, I'm planning on getting to the Fort at 0800 on 7/4 and getting any available sites they have open, so I plan on leaving home around 2300 on the 3rd. Like I meantion this will be our first trip to the Fort with out anyone following so with no need for fuel stops and my DW will sleep the whole way down, I hope to make it in record time, 7 hours or less.

In the meantime I'm going to sit back and read along with everyone TRpopcorn::

Be safe!! I plan on rolling in as soon as the detailer is done waxing my truck on the 3rd~!

Well I decided on not renting a cart this trip, actually the lady at Time Tee Carts made it for me, they're booked up for July. I knew it was a long shot so we'll be cruising on the bikes this go around.

I wish I could bring my bike and leave the cart behind, but with 2 bikes in the truck already, there's no room for mine :(

Proudmomof4,

Glad you made it in safe and sound. Hey, we always love pictures. Only suggestion, click on the view full size tab that shows up under the picture when you upload it. This way it shows up already enlarged.

Have fun, will be reading along.

Oops, I'm in 1005 not 1004.

I will take a better pic of the activities schedule in a little while.

Tiggerdad, I don't have an option for photo size, I'll have to figure this whole thing out.

Here are a few items from the check in packet, I wasn't surprised by the wild animal advisories but I hadn't known about the work going on at the Meadows pool. And loop 2100 is still missing from the map.

Somebody sneak over to 2100 and take some current pictures PLEASE!

Mom, good looking popup unit (from one pup owner to another). Looks like you got Pop Up Gizmos (Pugs) on the bunk ends? Smart move.

Bama Ed

Yes BamaEd, those are pop-up gizmos, they really do make a difference. I also put reflective sun shades in the windows of each bunk end.

Great site!

Nice walk to the trading post and then over to the pool. I like it.

Okay, I tried to make a covert visit to 2100 but there was a lot of construction traffic going in and out of the loop. I was able to snap a few pics by holding the phone above my head. Judging from what I saw, I think it looks like these will be full hookups.

I walked by the pool but didn't see any work going on there, but the Meadows playground is closed.

The Settlement playground is open

Turkeys

Breakfast sandwich from P and J's Takeout

Travel trailer in 1500 loop

Great pics. I heard the pool was going to have some renovation going on. Didn't know the playground was down too.

Good looking setup Mom. Appreciate the pics. I'm over at Southalabama5er's house this evening helping him with some site decorations.

We'll wish them a safe trip in the morning when we leave, leave it up to you to keep him straight while he and Mrs. Southalabama5er are there (they aren't taking the son so they may not be as inclined to behave).
