Nashville

Whatever you do don't stay at the Hampton...we stayed a night there for all star weekend then switched to the Omni.

Just keep your eyes peeled but rates will prob jump for Omni especially once they actually announce New Years which should be after July 4th

What was wrong with the Hampton Inn?

We will be in Nashville for two nights in January and this time (we stayed in a cabin at Evergreen Farm just outside Nashville last time) we want to stay within walking distance to Broadway so I've been researching hotels and we're considering the Hampton or Doubletree on 4th. Doubletree is $122/night with our AARP discount, or $170/night for a junior suite. Haven't been able to get rates for the Hampton yet for January. I can't even imagine paying $300, $400, $500 for a night in a hotel. I just can't see spending that much just to sleep. We've stayed in a lot of Hamptons and most have been fine, so just wondering why you say not to stay at the one in Nashville.

I'm sure the Omni would be nice but I'm just not willing to spend that much. But being within walking distance to the honky tonks on Broadway would be nice. We enjoyed several of them last time, but didn't enjoy the drive in/back to the cabin.

I'd go with doubletree honestly. The room we had there were several issues with the room from bad beds, not being clean as it should be...just many issues for what we were paying for that weekend wasn't good. We've stayed at many Hamptons too but this was not up to standards of others I have stayed at.

Tin Roof oh man their cheese dip is raved about at least at the original, I haven't tried the Broadway one.

Listening room is actually in walking distance of everything too!

Good to know about Listening Room. That's awesome! For some reason, I thought it was in one of the other neighborhoods. It appears we'll have to plan an early dinner somewhere to get there in time to see the live entertainment, but that's okay. We can go to Tin Roof afterward for cheese dip. :teeth:

I don't have personal experience with either of these hotels or know how close Doubletree is to the honky tonks, but $122 sounds amazing for downtown. I'm pretty sure there wasn't anything close to that price for our dates. As a matter of fact Omni is now $419 for our dates. You should consider booking ASAP, while you can still get an excellent rate. I'm glad I booked, when I did.

Because I have to be planning something :teeth: .......

We have to buy Christmas gifts for over 35 people at last count. Plus, we'll be taking our trip at Christmas. So, DH & I have decided to only get each other one nice gift & spend the rest of what we'd normally spend on the trip. I'm not sure what we'll get DS. Regardless, we'll still need to buy stocking stuffers & I want to surprise DH with a few small gifts, because the gift I want will likely cost quite a big more than anything he'll choose. Anyway, I've been thinking I should get my guys something they can use on the trip. Can you all think of anything for a stocking stuffer or cheap(ish) gift they may not have, but will most likely need for the week after Christmas, including NYE, in Memphis then Nashville? (Remember, we live in South Florida.)Anything for the trip in general that would be fun? It's going to be a long roadtrip.

Do you have a sports store near you? I have seen some them there
Now that you mention it, we pass by a large Bass Pro Shop daily. I wasn't even thinking about places like that. As you can see, I'm not much of a shopper. Most of my purchases are made online. It's easier to hide gifts from DH that way. We basically spend every waken minute together, so he's always with me in stores. Thanks again for the suggestion. :)

How do you know Nashville hotels are expensive?.?.? I was checking hotel prices for our trip to see, if any of them had gone down. (Wishful thinking, as it turns out. ;)) Anyway, while checking Memphis, DH noticed the big Cypress Lodge was in a pyramid. He sees a price of $239/night & says, "That's cheap! Why aren't we staying there?" :rotfl: Evidently, I've talked more about our Nashville plans than our Memphis plans, because I had to explain to him that Memphis is cheaper than Nashville & we booked Peabody Hotel in Memphis cheaper than that rate. After I showed him the location of the pyramid, he decided he'd rather go for the location of Peabody than stay in a pyramid. Obviously, cheap is a relevant term depending on what you think you're already paying. :p

Nashville hotels are more expensive then NYC hotels during New Year's Eve. We have become the it city to visit for everyone.

Nashville definitely appears to be the vacation hotspot now. I'm so glad I didn't hesitate in booking Omni early. You all did me proud on that one. All the hotels have gone up, since we booked. I can't imagine what Omni's rates will be in Nov. & Dec. :scared1: That is, if there are any rooms available that close to NYE.

They updated the vistor's guide on the tourism site, you can view it online or have one mailed http://www.visitmusiccity.com/vgonline
Thanks for the info & links. :) I signed up for the Memphis & Nashville guides at the same time a couple months ago, but we only got the Memphis guide. Nashville may have been waiting for the new edition, since I noted we aren't going to be there until December. Who knows? Regardless, I signed for the new edition & hope to get it soon. :yay:

Welcome! If pattern holds true, next week we should know who plays New Years Eve

Mandy, what site should the NYE info be posted on? I keep Googling a few times a day like a  person. Nothing new has been posted yet. :rolleyes1
