How is Harambe Market?

How do you like the food and what do you get? Many of the choices look good to me and I want to try it instead of Flame Tree BBQ this trip. Flame Tree is okay, but we are from Texas and the ribs at FT are just no comparison to what we can get here.

It's ok. I had a chicken skewer. It was too plain and they didn't have any hot sauce (I found that unforgivable). The pickled veggie side was good.

The ribs are closer to Texas style, though not exactly, but still pretty tasty. That's our favorite dish there.

We ate there a couple weeks ago. We all loved our options.
The Rib counter was not open. Not sure why. We arrived at about 2 hours before parking closing
I had the Gyro, which rivaled the one we get at the Greek place here in town
DGD and Mom got the Chicken Skewer
DD got Tikka Masala and it was really tasty

Good to hear. The Gyro and the Tikka Masala sounded really good to me. Glad you know you liked them.

I have to say, for food options, I was honestly a little bit disappointed. The options are all pretty limited, and for what you get the prices are a little high. The chicken skewer was okay, and that's about my opinion on most of the food from there, more snack size too. I'd prefer to go around the corner & get some fruit & a cheese plate from the cart by the safari!
Now, the watermelon lemonade, YES PLEASE, I could have like, 12 of those!

I loved the curry sausage. Plus, you can get Bibo and Sparberry soda, which were previously only available at Club Cool in Epcot.

We loved it, tried every dish, desserts and drinks!

We had a not so great experience in October. The park was crowded, and we did not have a lunch ADR so we looked for QS. Yak N Yeti QS had very long lines, so we stumbled upon Harambe Market. The lines didn't look long, but they took FOREVER. Plus there was very little shade and it was hot as it almost always is in AK. Worse was that if you wanted two different items (i.e sausage and ribs) then you needed to get in two different lines. So if you have kids you need to make them pick the same thing lest you have to queue up more than once! Once we finally got our food there was no seating in the direct area so we had to walk down the crowded walkway to a little alcove area with our drinks without lids. Not pleasant! I had the ribs and they were OK. The spices/flavoring was kind of bland and salty. The meat itself wasn't the most tender. It was large though for the $13! My sister had the curry corn dog sausage and it did not have any curry flavor and was dry.

After this experience I have learned my lesson and will either make a lunch ADR at AK or try to eat at offpeak times. Regardless, I will NOT be going back to Harambe Market.

Sorry about your experience @goodeats. That is a major bummer that you have to order at different windows. I thought you could get all the selections at one window. And I am also worried about the seating.

To be totally honest that sentence can be said about every meal on property.

No, there are different windows (think a Value Resort Food Court) but not all windows are open all the time. As I mentioned, only 1 of the windows was open during our trip a couple weeks ago.
As for seating, we sat under cover and it wasn't at all hot. But I also don't think AK is hotter than other parks. Epcot yes, it's a concrete jungle but I find foliage cooling. Maybe because it reminds me of living on the mountain. It's always cooler at our house than elsewhere and that's mostly due to tremendous amounts of shade from all the foliage.

@AngiTN, so as I understand there are a few different windows, one for the sausage thing, another for the grilled items, another for ribs. I read a review on the Disney Food Blog that said you did not have to stand in different lines and that you could order any of the items from any of the windows. Is this right? So, if my son wants the sausage, and my other son wants ribs, and I want the Gyro, can I just go to one window and order all those things, or do I need to stand in three lines?

That I don't know. I didn't try to order what wasn't listed at the window we went to. Sorry.
The thing it's most similar to is Sunshine Seasons at Epcot, if you've seen that.
Except they don't have 1 central pay point

Yes, you can order all the items at every window, according to Josh at easywdw. You do not need to go to different windows.
This is from 1/18/16.

He said on 1/18/16, "Each of the menus at the various windows now list every item available." He also says when the menus did not show all the items, "While you could still order any of the other items, you’d have to read a website like this one to know that."

I understand why people think you need to go to different windows, because of course you think you can only order what is listed on the menu. I wouldn't go to the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and try to order lobster bisque. Why they didn't have them all listed on every menu in the first place, when they were all available all along, was probably for authentic themeing.

Yes, you can order at any window. As stated, it has always been that way, it was designed to look like, well, a Harambe Market.
