My very negotiable AK plan. Please tell me how bad it is.

First big family trip. First time making a "touring plan." Family of 4 DS8 DD5.5 Going in May. The week of the 21st.

I'm very clueless to time allotments, but this is what I have come up with. I don't really have to be on a down to the minute schedule, but more wanted to know which FPs to get and the times.

AK Rope Drop park scheduled to open at 9am
1 Safari @ rope drop 900
2 EE without FP 940ish
3 Tusker house ADR @ 1030
4 FOLK @12
5 Kali River Rapides FP @ 1230
6 EE FP @ 1245ish
7 Primeval whirl 115 then boneyard
8 Dinosaur FP @2
9 Finish the day with Its Tough to be a Bug/ Flights of wonder/ etc....

I know the times are not exact, and Im also concerned about Lion King at 12 withput a FP.
Please tell me if this plan is terrible.

I don't think it's terrible, but it may need a few tweaks. I think how you fare on the non-FP attractions depends on when in May and what day of the week. I think you will get into the noon LK show since you'll be coming from Tusker House, but you certainly won't be near the front of the line. So you'll probably end up higher in the stands, and not down close to the floor. As long as you're good with that, I think it's a good way to save that FP.

But from there, I don't see you making that 12:30 Kali FP. That whole theater lets out in a big crush, it's pretty far from Kalu, and the show is close to 30 minutes I think. But I think your order of things after that is pretty logical. Only other warning would be to check the show times for Flights of Wonder--not sure how late they go. But I think you should also work in some time on the trails to look at the animals that you can't see from the safari. Tigers and gorillas!! The giant fruit bats are also cooool. Plus you'll need an afternoon snack somewhere, like a jalapeño pretzel or (or AND!) a rum dole whip ;). There's a good snack stand near the safari and one near Everest. We really love AK--you'll have a great day!

To me it seems like a lot of back n forth....
Between 1 & 2 there's plenty to do on the way. 2 opposite ends of the park. then all the way back to the starting point to eat....

Maybe starting out going to EE 1st, then heading over to Africa...& doing the KS..... Now once that's done you'll be over by TH to eat & FOTLK, immediately afterwards. From that point on, you could either trek back the way you originally came from , or go towards the front of the park , and hit the other stuff ( which is pretty much grouped up ).
Might I suggest the Nemo show,& or The birds (flight of wonder):thumbsup2

Thank you @DizDaD7 the trip to EE was to try and fit in 2 rides. I like your idea of EE then the safari, but do you think we could fit them both in before our ADR without a FP?

It's basically the same 2 rides, in the same time frame, with a heck of alot less walking.... If you RD EE, you'll be on you way over to KS, in no time....I'd guess that the Wait time at around 9:15-9:30 at KS wouldn't be more than 15 mins. or so.

As quick as EE can fill up, I would think the best bet would be single rider for the no fp.

Not at RD though...It won't have that much of a line.... Especially for the first bunch of people in the park..

I see what you mean. I was just thinking about the time to get to KS, if it takes and additional time loading, and the journey after to EE. I have had the unfortunate experience of having two BTGs in the park at rope drop, and it made a bit of a wait for us. Nothing terrible even with the wait though. I was just thinking of the least wait possible.

True, true...

I was just seeing it as Them going to KS at RD, waiting probably the same amount ( as if they went to EE 1st ) then walkin/running from KS, to EE, and then from there, back over to Harambe Village.....Seems like more time waisting to n fro...:confused3

EDIT: B.T.W. :welcome:to the Disboards..

Agree with DizDaD7! You want to try to have a singular route.........zigzagging makes things tough and your plan has way to much of it. You might also want to give yourself more time between attractions.......... a 9am Safari to EE at 9:40 isn't gonna happen in my opinion!

For me the 10:30 Tusker House is dictating your touring plans............I like the Safari at 9am........you could do EE but not at 9:40...........getting back for TH by 10:30 with young ones could be tough.......and exhausting :)

If you could move TH up to say 10:15 (10am if you're on the Safari @ 9).........then you could do the Safari and go to TH next............FOTLK............then head towards EE. Just spitball'in hear :P

In the end have a magical vacation!

Ah, I see now! Good idea with EE first. KS won't be too crazy that quickly after EE at rope drop. Sorry, phone makes it harder to get the whole thread picture. :badpc:

Hahah...No worries... We're all in this together...LoL:grouphug:

AHHHHH Cant I have someone make all these plans for me and just tell what where to be!! I agree that TH is dictating our morning, but it was DS meal of choice. Hindsight I could have booked earlier. Maybe I could change it. What is the earliest you would suggest with being able to do safari first?

Also the morning EE ride is not a must as I will try for a FP for later that afternoon. But, I know DS would like to ride it twice

With Flights of Wonder, you will want to check out the schedule once it's back open after its' refurbishment. It's not a continuous show so you'll need to fit it into the plans when you can. With the ages of your kids, I think it's a must see.
