Find Your Own "Directive" - the February Weight Loss / Life Style Change Challenge

I have that shirt in a Tank Top (below) -- I think i'm going to wear it to RNR New Orleans because my corral is not even on the map! :rotfl:

Annnd you guys just found my dark side top because I forgot to submit my proof of time.

hahaha i love it. i may have to get one too. its so good!

with my normal workout gear, its either all or nothing... like i'm either stylish with chic workout gear, or im the opposite in ratty sweats and a destroyed band tshirt. there is no middle ground.

most of my workout gear is grey or black (just like the rest of my wardrobe, honestly)...i used to buy brightly colored workout clothes but then on laundry day i'd end up with a bright green shirt and neon orange pants and a red sports bra. like a traffic cone/light gone terribly wrong.

so this is generally what my gear looks like:

Screen Shot 2016-02-11 at 11.45.38 AM.png

Most of this stuff I got at Marshalls on super sale (like that adidas crop jacket! score!). I really like my adidas rnr sneakers, but I REALLY want these Stella McCartney boosts:

Screen Shot 2016-02-11 at 11.52.56 AM.png Screen Shot 2016-02-11 at 11.53.12 AM.png

I'm kind of a fashion geek so I also want a pair of Yeezy boosts (either moonrock or turtle dove idk) but i might have to settle for a knockoff pair because there's no way im paying $1500 for sneakers.

working out is just more fun when i feel like i look cute while doing it. a little extra motivation :)

oh and @courtneybeth .. as far as costumes go, i don't have too much experience with running in costume but I threw together a couple possible ideas for my costumes for my upcoming races.

Kind of rethinking the chewbacca tank since it's kind of tight and I like to run in really loose tops. and the slippers are a joke (but i'd totally wear them around the house lol)

anyone know how to make images smaller? the "full image" option is huge and the "thumbnail" is not really doing it for me. lol sorry theyre so massive.

OK, I am seriously considering buying a Shefit sports bra. I saw them on Shark Tank, and they almost sound too good to be true. www.shefit.com They're fully adjustable in the straps and the part-that-goes-around-your-back-that-probably-has-a-name-i-can't-think-of-right-now.

@courtneybeth does the Nashville race warrant cute themey outfits?! I will do just about anything if I get to wear anything even close to a costume.

OFF TOPIC: I don't remember who mentioned wanting to see Gentleman's Guide on the last page or so - so sorry! I'm too ADD at the moment to go back and check. Struggling hard today. BUT! GO SEE IT. Holy CRAP it was so good. I intentionally went into without listening to any music first (other than what I've seen on the Tony's) and without looking into the storyline. It's been so long since I've seen a show that was new to me. OMG IT WAS SO GOOD. I was blown away by every aspect of it - the sets, the story, the acting, the dancing, THE COSTUMESSSSS (I love early-1900's period clothing). It was SO FUNNY, too. And one actor plays 9 roles - AND IS AMAZING IN EVERY ONE OF THEM. Wow. It was so, so, so good. I am SO CRITICAL of theatre and I have never left a show in awe of every single bit of it - usually there's an actor I wasn't crazy about, or a song that was slow, or a mic drop or missed lighting cue. It was FLAWLESS. Wow.

Quick hit-and-run for me to answer the QOTD...

Let's chat about your workout / exercise fashion.
Do you have special shirts, pants, or shoes that help bring out your confidence when exercising?

I started out kinda boring ... mostly whatever neutral colored stuff I could find for cheap. Then, when I started doing runDisney, the crazy started, and it was all about buying (or making) clothes for my race costumes. For non-costume stuff, I go with neutral colors mostly just because they match everything. I'm super boring.

Oh, and I'm addicted to Raw Threads. I just can't afford it. I have one v-neck and a hoodie, and I think that next time they have a sale, my credit card will hate me.

Anyone have any advice about running costumes - pros/cons?

We do character-inspired/DisneyBound more than costumes. We can (mostly) wear normal running stuff, so it's a lot easier.
Here's what we did in January:

For the 5K:
WDW2016_Day3_008.JPG
I'm Nemo - the shirt I bought online, and the dress and capris I already had
My sister is Cinderella (but a little darker blue than it should have been - this was just the best we could find) - most of this she bought specific for the outfit, but she needed more winter running gear anyway, so it was good
Minus the skirt, which we bought from Sparkle Athletics, this is all stuff we bought either at Kohls or some other random sporting store.

For the 10K:
WDW2016_Day4_004.JPG
I'm Dumbo-inspired - I made the skirt myself (because I'm crazy), but the rest was just stuff I either had lying around or would have bought anyway (there's also a yellow headband that you can't see - that's Raw Threads, but I bought it because it was $5 and put me over amount needed for free shipping when I was buying something else)
My sister is Snow White - Tank and headband are Raw Threads, long sleeve top and tights are from Target, the skirt I made

It's a lot cheaper and easier than a full-on costume, but it still gives you that fun Disney element.

I'm a huge fan of the double-lined sports bras. I used to just wear two sports bras (when i was in high school/college).. Then I switched to the Lululemon Ta ta tamer - worked really well, but if you gain even a little weight it starts to really squish your boobs into a weird shape. now i have several Victorias Secret Knockout front-close sports bras. I highly recommend them, I can't really imagine switching back to the struggle-to-pull-over-your-head type bras anymore. With all my bras I usually sew the straps so they stay at the tightest fit, and those are no exception.

I just watched a video for the shefit. I love the idea of the adjustable band and straps. this should be incorporated into all sports bras lol. My only complaint is:

The victoria's secret bras that i love have one stand out feature that don't know if i can give up. There is another bra inside the sports bra that keeps your ladies separated. i CANT STAND when they kind of mush together (as big boobs do) in all other sports bras, aka the "uniboob." I cant tell you how much I hate that. It makes me feel fat and gross and sweat more, its just the absolute worst.
static1.squarespace.jpg
The knockout bra has a front closure bra and then a zip cover for reduced bounce. It makes you actually look like a woman instead of a uniboob-ed blob. I love the idea of the shefit. My ideal bra would be a combination of the two of these, i think. but i'm just not willing to give up the Knockout boob separation. I obviously feel very strongly about this lol... running with 36 DD's will do that to a girl. When you wear them under normal tshirts it doesnt look like youre wearing a sports bra (the zipper is a little noticeable though), and it gives a ton of support. my minor irritations with this bra are so worth it (and fixable when i sew the straps tighter) that i would have to be REALLY impressed to give it up.

that being said, I'm interested in the shefit and might buy one just to test it out. i like to keep an open mind :)

EDIT: I had to add, i love the Shefit slogan: "When life gives you boobs, get shefit." That alone makes me want one haha

It's hard for me to do a disneybound or low key costume. my tendency is to really go over the top, but i can't because of, you know, the running. again, all or nothing.

for example, a few years ago i made this lady gaga halloween costume. i either do things like this, or i dont do anything at all. running costumes are hard for me (which is why i made the little vision boards for my other costumes to try to get myself excited about "kind of" dressing up.

UGH I WAS SO SKINNY WHAT HAPPENED.

Annnd you guys just found my dark side top because I forgot to submit my proof of time.
Nooooo. OMG. You poor thing. You'll do fine. You can just.. sneak to the front of your corral and run your intervals. You're FASTER than the balloon ladies and the sag wagon. You'll be fine.

Kind of rethinking the chewbacca tank since it's kind of tight and I like to run in really loose tops. and the slippers are a joke (but i'd totally wear them around the house lol)

That is adorable. I love the idea of this... I'll have to post what I was thinking of wearing.

@courtneybeth does the Nashville race warrant cute themey outfits?! I will do just about anything if I get to wear anything even close to a costume.

You can do whatever you want. I've seen people run in Star Wars costumes to Elvis costumes with inflatable guitars. You just have to wear what is comfortable and allows you to run run run!

You and @pinklmaonade are lucky in that you can wear these tiny-cup bras from Shefit and Victoria's Secret. I had to buy 4 Warcol underwired sports bras for my 34G/GG's! :)

Nordstrom is a great place to get sports bras. Yeah... not sexy at all, but they look good under the cute running tops!

I love this idea. The costumes are super cute and all but for $150 I cannot fathom the expense and not having the comfort. I like running pants and tops, so maybe I can go to Raw Threads and get some cutesy-inspired items and wear that for my next race.

You're awesome. And You and your sis look totally adorable!!!

I am with @SarahDisney I don't go full on costume, more running clothes in colors/patterns/graphics inspired by a character. I have worn a tutu once for sleeping beauty, with a pink tank. I had the Mickey Maleficent ears for my maleficent get-up last year, which otherwise was a black skirt and an "Evil Fairy" raw threads shirt.

rD has also recently tightened up its rules a bit in terms of what they allow. I have seen a few awesome costumes that would now be a no go. I saw three people dressed as Lego super heroes with big cardboard boxes around them to make their bodies square. Now you can't do that. No more cardboard UP house running holding balloons.

Crazy busy this afternoon with the kids, but tomorrow I'll try to find time to post a few pics of my "inspired by" costumes.

It was me! Thanks for the review!!! I've heard nothing but amazing things about this show, so I am going to have to see if it will be touring near me any time soon!!

@pinklmaonade First, the knockout sports bra looks great. I hate the uniboob too-- thanks for the tip! And Second... That Gaga costume is amazing!!!

As for running costumes, I REALLY loved the costumes I made for DH and I for the Jingle Jungle 5K. It was definitely more costume and less running gear (Although, I LOVED the yoga pants I was wearing under the tutu-- I could've kept running for another 50 miles in those things!). But I was still comfy in my base layers with my crazy Mary Poppins get up on top of it. The only thing that was out of control was the hat. I can't imagine wearing that darn hat for anything longer 3.1 miles!!! Never doing that again, but I am a nut, and did not think the look was complete without our hats.... next time I will have to figure something else out in terms of headgear if we do this again.

I am definitely going to do this. Raw Threads tink shirt with some black running pants for the May race. Probably will wear my Baymax shirt again for Avengers.

I LOVE THOSE COSTUMES!!!! Theyre absolutely adorable! :jumping1: im freaking out over it!!!! haha well done.

This is sooooo true! I've never wanted to be at the start of a corral before! New feelings. :scared:

I'm not fancy or overly cute with what I run in. Just some basic capris and tees. For winter I have some thermal tights and longer ones for when it's just kinda cold not crazy cold. I honestly feel like a badass in my winter running gear. As far as costumes go I'd love to get a cute one but right now I'm just not feeling my body enough for that. I think I might get some raw threads tees for my april and may races.

Like I said my running cloths are pretty boring.

Question of the Day - February 12
Let's talk... Favorite Disney Parks Parades/Shows

The clip above is from the original World of Color show at California Adventure - and features our favorite robots Wall-E and Eve.
Were all obviously fans of Disney and Disney Night Time Shows. Let's take today to talk about them!

What is your favorite Disney Night Time Show(s)?
Why do you like it? Is there some special meaning behind it?

Reminder: Please submit your final weigh-in results no later than Sunday evening.
You may PM them to me or post directly in the thread here.

Let's talk... Favorite Disney Parks Parades/Shows

Let's not. Disney Parades was going to be the theme for March.

What is your favorite Disney Night Time Show(s)?
Why do you like it? Is there some special meaning behind it?

World of Color.
It's one of the only things I've ever seen that blew me away from the first moments. The projections, the fountains, the colors ... I love everything about it.
I've tried watching videos online, but it doesn't feel the same. I really want to be there and experience it again. I could probably watch that show every single night and still love it.
(I think my personal theme for the month is "I need to go back to California")

My camera takes terrible night pictures, but here's one of my favorite pictures that I've ever taken:
100_2949.JPG

(This was taken sitting on the ground in one of the wheelchair/handicap sections ... which is a story for a different time)

I am the worst host ever. o_O

You're an awesome host ... you're getting people excited in advance for next month's thread!

YOU DO. You seriously do. Come back to Disneyland. it misses you!

Not as much as I miss it. Seriously. I made myself promise that I won't go back to Disney World until after I go back to Disneyland ... because as soon as I got back from Florida last month, my first thought was "I need to go back to Disneyland." I've done 4 Florida trips in a row ... but Disneyland is my home away from home, and I miss it like crazy.
