News Round Up 2016

I like it too, but I'm a big Song of the South fan. In fact, I am such a big fan, that I am going to brave Splash Mountain in March. I have never ridden it, because I can't stand big drops. Gotta have some excuse to overcome my irrational fears:sad2:
It's not as bad as it looks. Enjoy it!

Sort of amazing to me that it took this long. I was noting the existence two years ago when I made a special effort to see LMA before it closed. You'd think if they had a people eater and were not using the space, they'd keep it open just to, you know, eat people. Disney works in mysterious ways.
Yep, well they saved money by it not operating which is probably why it's just sat closed until now.

Darn it someone beat me to it!

Anyways, this proves that the ride will not go outside like originally speculated. This also shows that the ride will be relatively short which isn't good. This ride holds 165,000 gallons of water where as a ride like pirates holds 600,000+ gallon so for water.

I wouldn't use water volume to judge ride length. That depends far too much on flow and depth which we have no way of gauging.

The map does seem... short though.

Based on other calculations I've seen its about 5 minutes at best.

I could be missing something major, but is there an assumption that the track is all on ground level? I'm not an expert at reading plans, but is it possible that the track goes up/down a few levels (like Spaceship Earth?) If so, then maybe the ride will be bigger than ground level foot print?

It's possible but doubtful. There was speculation there would be a small drop but that does down. I think this will be on one level.

Kind of like the Force:yoda:

I don't really like getting my face wet either, so that's not a plus in my book. Are there lockers to store your stuff? DH may or may not ride; he's afraid of falling, not heights:rolleyes: If he rides, then we need somewhere to store the big camera.

It's the best ride Disney has ever built...and the drops are a minor part of it.

I am hoping the drop (I hope there's only one real drop) isn't too bad. I really want to do it though.

I don't believe they have lockers there. I know they do for Kali but I don't think they do for splash. I sat front row in January and my face didn't really get wet but my shorts did.

Based on some overlays on wdwmagic as well its speculated that the ride could be anywhere from 4.5-7.5 minutes depending on speed and such. Also noted that the original leaked avatar blue print showed the boat ride exiting the building which is not happening in this latest permit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we get actual images of the ride's canal outside of the building? I'm tempted to say that this is an old blueprint of the ride.

No that image you saw was covered and would be what is the maintenance bay in the blue prints. The very original blueprints for the ride showed it going outside these new ones do not I believe there was a change but a change for the shorter.

Hmm...too bad they can't fix it so it is any good.

This ride was BY FAR the biggest disappointment when I returned to WDW after a 15 year absence. We went on it during a really slow time back in 2010. I had read how it was one of the most popular rides, and the lines were so long, and everyone LOVES this ride, etc. We got off and I was like, "That was IT?!?!" Thank GOODNESS we didn't have to stand in a long line for it!

Oh, I see. Since you could actually see the track I thought it would be an outdoor section.
