Notable Disney Movie Rewards

I've discovered how easy it is to earn Disney Movie Rewards points by scanning ticket stubs when we go to see the zillions of movies that Disney releases.

My questions is what to do with the points. Should I redeem them periodically for cute little tchochkes or should I hoard them and save up for some amazing, WDW-related perk?

I have no idea what sorts of rewards I should be aware of.

We have cashed ours in for a lot in just a few years. $10 Disney gift cards when available, reusable zip pouches, plush toys, Cinderella charm bracelet, Donald collectibles for my dad, several good DVDs and I am sure there has been more. Currently I didn't see anything we wanted except a tinker bell dvd that I ordered but you just have to keep checking back for what looks good to you.

We just keep piling up points for the Disney gift cards. We know eventually we will go back and they don't expire. Can be tricky to nab them though:)

Most recently, I got a full size Star Wars - TFA One sheet back in December and a large Disney Holiday Throw blanket the next day.

I've used them for $10 Disney gift cards (great stocking stuffer for the Disney lover), but some have reported that they limit the number of times you can cash in for a gift card.

This is true. You are now limited to a LIFETIME maximum of 4 $10 Disney GCs. I'm really annoyed because I was saving points for more GCs but now can't get any since I got 4 back in 2014. And you can't transfer your points to any one else. (I had also redeemed for a $20 Disney GC in 2011, so I don't know if the limit will be by denomination or for all Disney GCs. I don't think they've offered anything other than $10 GCs in many years.)

I only redeem for DVDs.
Once upon a time the Disney Gift Card were $20 cards for 750 points. I did get one of those back then. The new $10 cards don't seem like much of a deal so I won't get them.

We buy cute toys that we haven't seen elsewhere. My favorite is a set of 7 plush dwarves that were way cuter in person and much better quality than I expected and 3 years later, DD still loves them!

My absolute favorite are the collectible pins they offer. Most recent ones that come into mind are the 7DMT ride pin and the Disneyland 60th Anniversary pin. I sometime spend them on Blu-Rays that rarely go on sale because I have the points and refuse to drop $30+ on one in store.

We collect Jim Shore figurines but we do not like the price so we have redeemed points for those.

It's true and very disappointing.

I got an offer in the mail yesterday to re-join Disney Movie Club, and I'm tempted to do it partly for the DMR points. Since I'm maxed out on GC redemptions based on the new rules, I want to beef up my wife's account so she can start getting them. We cancelled the Movie Club a while back because I got tired of not getting the emails for featured offers and then being sent things I didn't want. (I was always able to return them at no cost to me, but it was a hassle.) But they are offering me 5 movies for $1, plus an additional movie for $11.95 that will qualify towards my purchase requirement, all with free shipping. I think blu-rays all have 150 DMR points, so that'd be 900 points right there.

Is it possible that the older movies may not have codes that are valid anymore. Does Disney put a time limit on any of them? Not sure about DMR points, but I do know that we've missed adding a digital copy to our Disney Movies Anywhere when we've neglected to do it soon after buying the movie.

I don't think there is a time limit!

I'm saving up for the Walt Disney Studios private tour. 15,000 points!

We always save up for nicer collectable, usually a WDCC. I think the last one we got was a really nice Pinocchio one.

I've used them for the gift cards, movie tickets, movie concessions, Blu Rays etc. There's a new one for a $5 off coupon for a Disney Movie purchase that'll I'll be getting to get the Good Dinosaur later this month.
