Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We are staying in a 2 bedroom villa (6 of us) July 30th-Aug 4th. Hope our room is renovated, also already requested 2 queens in second bedroom. Not sure I will get that request. I think we will be driving from Chicago. Any idea how much the parking by day is? If we want to leave to get groceries or something do they just charge by day?

Free self parking for resort guests

So excited, I just booked a last minute spring break trip March 24-April 2 for our kids (it's a surprise)! They will be super excited and we decided on the Beach Club again. We had an amazing time the last time we went in late August/early September2014 for 12 days.. I'm a little nervous that the crowds are going to be brutal, as we have always gone in September to avoid them, but this trip we decided will be for relaxation and just some fun since we have practically done everything there is to do at the Parks. My kids Loved Stormalong Bay! I think my favorite resort has changed from the Poly to the Beach Club! Any new info. I should be aware of since September 2014?? Please add me to the Be Our Guest List!!

On those cold days Ninja Mom volunteers to jump in the pool and break the ice for everyone. On those rare occasions when the temps hit the 40's or lower they have closed the pool. This is not a problem as during temperatures that low there are no takers for the pool.

Also, when it gets that cold in Florida you can always tell which guests are Canadian as they are the ones still wearing shorts and thongs (Flip Flops).

Heated pools in 40F weather are no problem for us Winter lovers...add a little snow and it would be fine

I will be checking in the YC tomorrow. Woohoo!!!! I will be on a Sunkin Treasure hunt and will find out if they offer the texting service. Any other requests or pics? I will also be on the lookout for signs of construction. :tiptoe:

I am so jealous!! We are very excited to stay here. We are die hard CBR fans but are trying something new this time around.

Hey guys! My SO and I are planning a first trip for my first visit and her returning trip to WDW in January 2017. We have been flipping between resort ideas, but I think we might be settled for Beach Club! Before we book, I wanted to look into more of the resort and I have to admit, I love the new look for the rooms. Very modern and tasteful.

I noticed a lot of the rooms are 2 queen beds at the BC, but there is an option for king room. We are just looking for a standard king room, but how hard is it to request and obtain a King bed room? My SO and I are sharing a Full Size bed until we move to our next apartment, so when we travel, I always try to make an attempt to get a king size bed. Having 2 beds in one room seems crowded for us too. It's silly really. But my only request for a room is a nice King bed to rest in. It's probably very limited at all deluxe resorts?

The Beach Club does have king beds. We had one the last time we stayed there. But they aren't guaranteed. You can request one and see what happens. We didn't request a king bed so we were surprised and very happy to get one. :)

Are the coffee pots in the YC still the kind that take the Senseo pods? The filter pods, not the Keurig type?

And is there good coffee the Brew House or regular Disney coffee?

As a previous poster pointed out, there is no parking fee at Disney resorts unless you are doing the valet parking. You will have a parking fee for the Universal portion of the trip if you are staying onsite.

Not sure what the options for requesting bedding configurations is at the villas- DVC friends, can you help here?

:welcome: back!!!

Glad to add you to the list!

:cool1:

Well, the biggie is that the rooms have all been renovated since your last trip. There is now an afternoon bus that goes directly from the resort to the front of EPCOT, but that is not especially useful. I think it has something to do with transportation to the water parks. Also, Teena the greeter has moved to Las Vegas. :(

I can't think of any other big changes off the top of my head.

Can anyone else think of any changes?

:goodvibes:

ETA: A thread started on the resorts board reminded me... no more towel animal creations at WDW resorts. :(

As Woodnymph describes, there are a limited number of king beds at the resort. We are really not sure how many. There is no way to guarantee a room with a king bed, but you can certainly request one and at checkin, you can ask if your room has a king bed. If it does not, you can see if there is another room available that does, or when one will become available if you are willing to switch.

:thumbsup2

:welcome: to the thread!

Have you booked a trip or are you still in the decision stages?

Yes, still the pod machines.

I'll post a picture of the coffee set up (or you can see it on Page 1, Post 14, I think).

I am a coffee addict, but not a snob. The coffee is okay, nothing to write home about. Not so bad that I have taken the time to find my own coffee pods to bring.

I've been told that there are something like 18 2BR villas that have two queen beds in the second bedroom. The rest of the villas have a queen and a sleeper sofa in the second bedroom. We had one of these 2BR villas on our first BCV stay. I've also been told that these villas are snapped up by DVC members and it is hard to get one if you are on a cash reservation. But I would still request one, no matter what the odds are. :)

The bus to DTD only shares between the YC and BC instead of sharing with all five Epcot resorts. The park buses also share between the YC and BC only. And the Boardwalk bus no longer shares with the Swan/Dolphin. They have their own bus.

Park hours are out for August so that means 3 weeks to our ADR day. Not that I'm overly excited and need to share :dogdance:
Thank you for this :)

I've been MIA. Sorry Stormalong friends. I am booked for end of November at BC GV CL but I am not sure if DH and I are taking a trip or I am going to be like Dee (that should be a tee) Lots of rhymes ;) I might agree to chaperoning my DS15's WDW trip at that time....for now I've been changing away for summer. As of now, right, now I'll be at AKL CL in early August

:coffee:

As Wood Nymph said there are very few 2 BR, 2 Queen bedded DVC Villas. I also believe they are a booking category for DVC members. They are grabbed quickly and seldom available for cash reservations.

Hello Everyone,

Couple of questions for folks who have stayed at BC. We're squeezing in a 3 night stay in late April, which is not going to feel long enough, but we did just do a week at WDW in December, so I can't complain... First time at an Epcot resort, and we're very excited! Question about water bottles: My guess is that the Marketplace sells bottled water, perhaps by the case or gallon? When we stayed at the Contemporary in December, we were pleasantly surprised that mousekeeping left us a 32 oz bottle of Disani every day by the coffee maker. We can't stand the taste of the tap water, so this was a welcome gift and helped in the cost of buying water. Is the BC doing this, too?

Also, regarding Stormalong Bay slide: I've read you can't wait by the end to meet your kids, but I've read conflicting info about whether kids are allowed to wear life vests. What's been your experience regarding this? My youngest DS loved the slide at GF and CR, but he's not a thrill seeker. Is stormalong bay much faster and intense compared to those slides? TIA!

Thanks Guys. I am staying on DVC Points thru my friend. He put in the request so being a DVC member and its his home resort I am hoping it helps.

Reporting live from the YC . The pool hours are 10 am to 8 pm. We got the room with the shared balcony. I really like it. It's very big and so far I'm the only one using it. The room is in excellent shape. The rug and wallpaper are clean and perfect. The furiture has some scratches but nothing bad. Nothing looks like it needs to be replaced. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again before the referb. They do offer the texting service. I love the new lounge. Off in search of a Sunkin Treasure.

I believe his confirmation will tell him whether he got that 2 bedded Queen or not. Ask him if he sees it

I'm curious about this too!

Yes, bottled water is available for purchase at the Marketplace in gallons or a case of small bottles ($6.29 or something like that when I checked in January). They also have individual larger bottles of water and possibly cases, but I haven't seen the cases. I don't recall water being left in the room for use in the coffee makers.

So, I am pretty sure life vests are allowed on the slide. I may have that info on Page 1 in the 3rd post about the Jib Slide. It may also be up to the life guards discretion, but I'm pretty sure most will allow the kids to go down wearing a vest.

You can't wait right at the outlet of the slide, but you can be in the pool several feet (a short swim) away.

ETA: Here's the post from Page 1:

FAQ: Are children permitted to wear a floatation device on the Jib Slide?
A: Yes, subject to the life guard's discretion.

Please note that adults are not allowed to wait at the exit of the larger pool slide.

I haven't been on the GF or CR slides, so I can't compare. The Jib Slide at SAB is probably longer.

Thank you so much for the info! You have been officially awarded minion status for such a helpful report. I hope you found your well-deserved treasure!
