Updated Resort Availability Tool

Do not know if this has been reported yet, I did not see it anywhere, but the tool now allows for you to pick a specific type of room that you wish to see.

This is getting better

Good catch. I had not noticed the change. The points slider is now gone, replaced by a drop down window that allows you to select a room size. Obvious improvement including because I doubt anyone actually liked the points slider. However, I already got an error. Searched for any 2BRs at WDW in late June and it showed for VGF only the lock-offs and Jambo was not listed at all.

I have also noticed that the order that rooms are listed in varies and it looks like the system, for any particular resort, is now listing first those which are open all days of your request, then partials.

I told y'all changes were coming. :) They honestly do listen to constructive feedback.

It should be check boxes, not a drop down that only allows one room type to be selected IMO. For example, since studios and 1BR's sleep the same number of occupants in many cases it's very likely that people could want to search for both types.

In general this was about as minimal of a "fix" as possible but at least it makes more sense than having the point slider. I still don't think they understand what made the original non-DVC room availability search so likeable that they tried to copy after closing it down.

Absolutely agree! I'm looking at booking a split stay with a few days at the Poly (in a studio obviously) and then a few days in a 1BR at VGF. With the original CRAP I could see availability for both studios and 1BRs at the same time making it easier to find availability for a few days in a studio followed by a few days in a 1BR. So count me as UNHAPPY about this change. The slider was awkward to use but at least I could look at multiple room sizes at the same time.

The correct fix is as KAT points out -- we need to be able to select multiple room sizes not just one!

ETA: I didn't mind the slider as much as others did. It wasn't easy to select a point range due to the size of the slider but I liked the concept because I could ask the question "If I have xxx points available, what can I book for my dates?"

Sorting the full availability rooms ahead of the partials may be the bat part of this tweak / upgrade.

I just used the RAT and once again I couldn't find AKV-Jambo House, only AKV-Kidani Village. I switched to online booking and there was availability for Jambo House for the dates I wanted. Both of the AKV resorts are there before I add dates, but AKV- Jambo disappeared when I added the dates. Other times Jambo House is there.

Am I missing something?

It's working for me. I selected Locations: Disney World, Destination Type: DVC Resorts, Check In date exactly 11 months out (also tried random date in May), Room Type: Studio, Number of Adults: 2, Children: 0. Accessible Rooms: No.

It worked for me with the selections above. Jambo House is in the results list.

Disney's IT has been in such disarray for so long, I'm not surprised people are pessimistic. But the team they have working on the web operations now is actually really good. One of them came from TouringPlans.com and used to host the "Betamouse" podcast.

The RAT (old Resort Avail Tool)was still far far better than the CRAP (new Check Resort Avail Page).

Cut the CRAP, bring back the RAT!

Don't click vacation type, just location WDW, and destination type DVC resorts. When you click Vacation type Disney vacations and theme parks, Jambo does not display, but Kidani does. Doesn't make sense, but easy enough to just not click on Vacation type.

I really like the newer availability tool. I have not had any issues with it. I especially like being able to choose the room type and seeing availability across multiple resorts - even ones outside the 7 month booking window

Thank you very much for the fix.

When I use it, I see all the resorts, but the availability only originally displays for the first resort listed.
I then have to click on the blue word "Availability" at the bottom of each additional resort to see availability at those additional resorts.
That is a real pain. Anyone else having this issue, and if so is there a something I can check to "show detail on all resorts"?

If you do not select a room type you will see all room types.

Yes, that's how it works. It's one thing that made the rat better because it didn't require that action to view availability.
